The Tab key no longer works for allows me to go between the text entry boxes

After updating to the new version of Firefox the Tab key is no longer work when switching between the text fields to enter information such as shipping address, name and stuff like that where a simple TAB could sail between the text boxes.

Hello benpierce25, try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button

    click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

The user.js file does not exist by default. If you create the file, forget it, if you don't have not create the file, and then remove the User.js file, to see if the problem goes away (some programs create and write to the file also).

Thank you

  • Tab key does not work for text input areas in Captivate 3

I'm building a software simulation of training where I am using text input boxes.  Some use the enter as a shortcut key, some use the tab key.  Those who use the keys work well, failure caption works by forced entry when you press Enter, it advances to the next screen.  Those who use the Tab key does not at all.  The legend of failure does not work and the Tab key does not advance to the next screen.  I compared to those that work and those that don't work and I see no difference.  I set the text entry box to pause at the end of the slide so that it should not be a problem here.  I even tried to have the action 'to success"to be continue rather than go to the next slide and use a click box using the Tab key as a shortcut to move to the next screen - nothing helps!  Is it possible that the Tab key could have been turned off somehow?  I'm totally at a loss, please help!

    Thank you!

  • Captivate: Keep the cursor in the text entry box

I would limit the cursor on the input text in a slide area, regardless of where the user can click.

I am doing a project of training for an application interface text, and I simulate the application entry field by placing a unique text on the slide entry box.  Although the cursor starts in this field when the slide is displayed, if the user can use the mouse to click anywhere but the text entry box, the cursor disappears and the user can enter data until he or she clicks on the text with the mouse input box.  This problem occurs in both the preview and the. Output of the EXE.

I tried to activate and deactivate the 'click' option under select key... in the parameters text box properties.  I also tried setting the action on the lost update to allow for the text control, or make her display a legend that says "click in the area of selection."  Apparently, remove the cursor of the box isn't enough to trigger the event "has lost the Focus.

While this isn't a complete show-stopper, it is an irritation that I'd rather not have my users deal with.

    I am using Captivate 4 v4.0.1 build 1658.

Thanks for any help you can give...

    Hello

I was able to do the following.

Insert a box click programmed object to go to the last slide when you click it.

Insert a text entry box and configure it so that it does not keep the text.

Insert a blank slide just before the slide with the TEB, then once it is longs.1 seconds. You should also give the same origin as the slide with the TEB. Otherwise, you will see a 'flash', as the previous slide is visited.

The way this works is that the user clicks anywhere but the BER and transport action click on box to the previous slide. But this slide is really super short. .1 second if it is visited and the read head again enters the slide with the TEB.

One thing to be aware of, is that if you plan to view the Captivate 'as a whole', which means that you have no idea what browser is used to view it, you must consider the insertion of a button object on the first slide that requires the user to click on it. This way is is moved to the Flash sitting inside the browser object.

    Hello

    http://gumbo.flashhub.NET/keyboard/

It is a small example of a 'virtual' keyboard that will enter the text into a textinput/textarea component selected. Capslock and shift key States really aren't quite right (really need control shift/cap lock combo), but there is a simple tab and backspace (delete) and enter the function key.

    hope this is useful

  • The text entry boxes reset

    Scenario:
I am using branching. When they get to the end of a branch and click the close button (click the button), it loops back to the start screen where they can try again, using a different path.

    Problem:
When I click on the close button, it goes back to the start screen - but captivate seems to remember what I did the first time and the fillings in my boxes of text from my previous attempt.

Is there a way to reset the screen when I get back? I'm not familiar with javascript, so I don't know if there's some code avaible that.

Thanks - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your information are a little sparse, so let me rephrase your question and tell us where I'm wrong, OK?

You generate output SWF in Captivate 1.0.1. On the last slide in the project, you placed a click-box or is configured to return to the slide #1 the movie even when the user clicks the button. The problem is that - after his return to the slide #1 to start again - the "answers" to the text entry boxes are already completed, and you don't want them to be. Your knowledge of Java-script is limited, so any solution that involves this language should be gradual. Subject of law?

I'm not an expert in Java-script is but to refresh the data, you must refresh the movie. One way of doing that would be to access the URL for the film (HTM document) instead of jumping to a previous slide. Have you tried? Another way using the command Refresh () - Java-script, but should do the trick for you - experiment a bit to see if it will work if the idea of "jump to URL" will not do for you.

  • Adobe Captivate 8 - responses of synchronization in the text entry box

I would like to limit the time to answer a question using the text entry area, but there is no option in the properties of the input box. I know that I can use the question slides (short answer) because they have an option of limitation in time, but not much can be changed there design wise so I need to use the text entry box.

You can use the hourglass interaction or the time. It allows you to display a message and go to another slide when the time is up. However, if you are talking about seconds, it is not very accurate.

  • Reveal the correct answer in the text entry box

    Hello

I am a novice Captivate user (Version 5) and I would like to ask for help on the following question:

I need to have a screen with multiple text entry boxes. When entering text in each box and confirm by pressing "enter", learners only need not comments correct and incorrect, but also the correct text in the text entry box. Is this possible?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

I searched for an easier solution, if you can live with the fact that the user must follow a certain sequence of complete ETB.

    • create as many slides (duplicates) that you need text input boxes + more to show the final result after the last TEB has been filled
    • on the first slide, the user fills out the first BER; choose these settings:
      • validate user input so that correct legend of success or failure appears
      • do not turn on "keep the text.
      • Choose "Go to the next slide" as well for success with regard to the action of the failure
      • write the properties of the ETB: character (police/size/color), size and position
    • on the second slide, you will make the second TEB with the same settings.
      • Create a rectangle with the same size and position of the TEB on first slide; do the 1pt STROKE and black and white, the fill value or if you have a white background, you can simply set Alpha to 0%: this rectangle will be to mimic the BER of the first slide
      • in this rectangle, you can put the text (double click - No need to caption text): put in the correct answer with the same font as in the ETB properties; given the right answer appear as well to correct regarding the wrong answer, it will be OK
    • on the third blade, you do the same to mimic the second TEB and you put the third TEB

Really think it's the best way, no use of variables and advanced actions. The user will see the legend of failure or success, and then to the next slide with the right answer.

  • How to validate the number of characters in the text entry box?

    Hello

I have inserted a text box entry and assigned a variable (UserName). Now, I need to limit the entry of a number, maxinum of 20 characters. In other words, how can I validate the number of characters in the text entry area and provide feedback if it is more than 20 characters?

I think that you should study the Jim Leichliter widget that allows you to use regular Expressions to validate text input.

    hope you can help me.

    Thank you

To check if the user didn't write anything, you will have to compare the value of the associated variable of the TEB or text box with a v_null user variable. You must create this user variable and simply leave it blank.

Take a look at my blog:

    Where is no good?

You create the custom with standard objects question slide. There is a widget mail included with Captivate, but did not try if you can insert the value of a variable by an email address.

  • Is there a fix for the icons in the text entry box yet?

The box where you type what you want to say feels super crowded, now that they have decided to transform the icon of the trombone in four separate icons. It is quite difficult to read what you write when there is also a small space to write. Has anyone found a way to reverse the icons separated without reverting to an older version of Skype?

As soon as you start typing in the chat window, four distinct icons should reduce the paperclip icon.
