The tabs in Firefox 4 are hiding my browser themes. Can they be placed UNDER the address bar as it was in Firefox 3?

Firefox 4 has placed the tabs above the address bar, rather than below (as if it was in previous versions) and the legs are block and hide my browser themes. Is it possible to move the tabs UNDER the address bar? I love being able to customize my browser with a variety of topics, but if I can't see them, then, the purpose of Personas is defeated. I think also, navigate between tabs is much easier to be at the top of the browser window. The address bar must be the head, not the tabs.

Right-click on a toolbar, and then click the entry "Tabs" at the top to deselect the it.

  • How can I open a new tab and enter automatically in the address bar and not in the Firefox search engine?

When I open a new tab I see Google search smooth with large beautiful Firefox logo on the top center of research, and makes me automatically type in this research. Is there a way to automatically enter address bar when a new tab is opened? Just moved to Firefox and it's quite annoying.
    Thanks to all the advice.

Looks like you have set browser.newtab.url to Subject: House which opens the default home page in each new tab. The simplest thing to do is to reset this preference so that instead of the new tab page:

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press ENTER.
    2. To ignore the warning, press the big button "I'll be careful, I promise!
    3. In the search box, paste browser.newtab.url
    4. In the search results, click browser.newtab.url , and then choose reset.

    Otherwise,.

    1. Custom installation tab.

    2. Open the modules (Ctrl + Shift + A Manager; Mac: Command + shift + A), then the Extensions category.
    3. Next to the new custom label, click on the Options button.
    4. The value of any page you want to open in each new tab (topic: newtab is the value default; about: home is the default home page) and make sure that "Focus in the URL bar" is not checked.

  • I hate where the window tabs are above the address bar in FF 8. Move back on top the windows themselves?

My old FF had the tabs on top of the windows windows. It's embarrassing to me where they are in 8 above the address bar. Having the tabs on top of the windows is editable?

  • I can't stop firefox opening a new tab when I type a URL in the address bar.

I have the ability to open windows into tabs and I love it. My problem is when I type a URL in the address bar, rather than load him on this page, it opens a new page. No matter what type of page I made this. When I CTRL + T to open a TAB, and then type in the address bar and it opens a new tab the TAB Leaving previous, I opened intact. I would like to just so that it loads the page on that I entered.

You have this problem when running in Firefox SafeMode?
    A troubleshooting mode.

You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu. Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox to open it again.

  • When I open a tab and start typing a URL in the address bar, my goal is switched to the google search field while I type.

When I open a new tab in Firefox, usually the first thing I do is start typing a URL in the address bar to the new tab (normally that uses AutoComplete to sites that I visit a lot). The new tab usually displays a google search page which is fine. It's there if I need it.

Lately, however, has changed the behavior of firefox when I open a new tab. After that I opened a new tab, my goal is taken from the address bar in the google search box. I mean not the Firefox search box either. I mean the search box on the google page. This occurs after I already started typing if I get the first letter or 2 of what I type in the search box, while the rest began to appear in the google search box. When I type a URL I want in the address bar. Not in the search box.

On reflection, I think that there are a few extensions that try to block or reverse this behavior of the Google search page. If you check your extensions, are one of them suddenly disabled or missing?

You can open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then check down to the disabled extensions.

  • Open in a new tab when you drag the url in the address bar

    Hello
When using Firefox on a Windows system, I can get a url (no hyperlink) open in a new tab by dragging the address bar while pressing the Alt key on the keyboard.
Now I use Firefox (latest version) on a Linux system (Linux Mint 14, specifically), but I can't do the same thing. is there a solution of reproduc this behavior?

    Thanks in advance

Dragging the URL/text next to a tab should open in a new tab. It does not?

You should be drag text to the area shown on this screenshot.

  • When you open a new tab, placing default text in the address bar, a way to change to the new page (like Google)?

When I click on the 'plus' for a new tab, which automatically takes me to google.com so beautiful, but the cursor is in the address bar. It seems that the cursor is in the google search box, but it's not.

When I click on "Home" the default cursor, the search field, which I think is correct. Is there a way to have FF does not by default the address for the input text bar when you open a new tab?

I doubt it. Google controls their research and their browser and they integrate features. But you can use "Ctrl + K" to place your cursor in the search bar"in your Firefox toolbars. By pressing the key TAB a little is a waste of time since there are a lot of links before you get to the entrance area.

There could be an extension, if it bothers some, but I don't see a valid compromise to justify the use of an extension of something that seems trivial to me.

I really have problems with using eye of the new presentation of Firefox. What I'd really like to do, is to move tabs so that they are under the address bar.

If this is not possible, is there a way to move the bookmarks bar in the address bar? Please don't direct me to the toolbars of edition, I would like to change their location.

  • Can not get the address bar with Firefox - one or the other button

With the toolbar options configured with the menu bar, bar nagigation, bookmarks bar and tabs on top
I have no Firefox button, a full menu before the address box layout.
If I uncheck the menu bar, I get the firefox button, but no bar address and a blank line between the tabs and the bookmarks bar

Unchecking the navigation bar removes the empty line between tabs and bookmarks.

I deleted all the incompatible modules and searched just likely culprits in: config without success. Any suggestions?

Looks like you added the address bar and other icons of the toolbar in the menu bar and have an empty navigation toolbar.

Use the method in the following article to drag - move the address bar and other icons on the Navigation bar - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

You can also use the method of "Reset bars, tools and controls" as described in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Back+and+forward+or+other+toolbar+items+are+missing

  • I wish increast the font size in the address bar, cession bar and tab headings do not see how

I would like to increase the font size or make the "BOLD" font, so I can read them better for the address bar in particular, but also for the entries tab, the menu bar and the bookmarks bar. Is this possible?

    Thank you

I don't think that there is still a setting for this in Firefox. You can, however, install the addon address bar font size bigger your version of Firefox to adjust the size of the font of the address bar.

Let us know if it works for you.

  • Firefox automatically clears the address bar and leaves the cursor in the address bar whenever new web page is open

whenever I have open a new tab, or open one of my favorites in an existing tab or new, after a second or two, the address bar is completely cleared, and even if I clicked on a new text box or you press the space bar to scroll, I believe that it would start typing in the address bar. It started just past today after I restarted my computer.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
