The update is ready to install? Every day, day after day?

Every day, I get a message saying "an update of stability and security for Firefox has been downloaded and is ready to install." Every day, I said to restart Firefox to install. I'm not a computer genius, but every day? makes me suspect something is not installed.

The update process is stuck. Go to http://www.mozilla.com and download the full version the most recent is 4.0.1 in 2-3 days it will be 5.0

After downloading, use Ctrl + J to make appear the downloads, and start the installation, when the installation starts down Firefox (be sure it is down in the control panel).

At the end of the installation don't let not the installation start Firefox for you instead stop there and then start Firefox to your habit - this way, you do not create a new profile and add confusion.

Or you can wait until 5.0 comes out June 21 (upgrade to look at 22), I think it would be a full download means less chances of getting stuck. There will be no change to the interface of all add-ons should be automatically improved from 4 to 5. "Do not follow request" will be moved to another place in the options.

  • "The update could not be installed." What should I do?

Whenever Firefox try to update I get a message that says "the update could not be installed. Please make sure that there is no other copy of Firefox running on your computer, etc... "The task manager says there is no other copy of Firefox running, and there are not yet all copies of Firefox running on the anywhere network. When I click on X or OK it just runs through the same cycle and I get the same message. This happens to every update until I have download the new version and install it on top of the current installation. I continue to wait for the bug with the next update, but he continues to be. How to stop this behavior, or can I just give up on Firefox and the use of Chrome or something? It is becoming a major pain in the neck.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Software Update doesn't work does not correctly)

Delete the files in the folder updates\0 and updates:

    Vista/Windows7:
    C:\Users\ < user > \AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
    (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates)

Do a clean reinstall and download a new copy of Firefox since http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before installing this copy of the Firefox installer.

Do not remove personal data during the uninstallation.

It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.

You can skip the step to create a new profile, which is not required on this issue.

  • Same update is installed every day

    I run Windows Vista.

I realized that each day there was 'new' updates to install. Today, I checked the version history and all the days from 29 September until today, there have been at least (over several days) an update with the same title "'AMD - graphics card - ATI Radeon Graphics Cards' status is indicated that installation went well, but the updates keep coming. As I type this I checked and there is already a 'ready to install this update.

Could someone please explain me what is happening?

    Thanks in adavnce

If there is no problems with the monitor or video display adapter, then you should simply hide the update.
A search in the Microsoft Update Catalog using 'AMD - graphics - ATI Radeon graphics cards' led to this link:

You mean that it maintains itself? You can turn off the Service of Maintenance of Mozilla and see if that helps. This page explains how to:

  • MS Windows XP Update KB 286 2330 has installed every day - last 2 weeks - guard reappear to update again! Why?

keep to receive the update of ms KB for 286 2330, have removed this piece and re-installed. However, he returned for the last 2 weeks? Why and how do stop this repeated Ms. Update!

Finally, here is what worked for me:
Go to: Start-Settings-Control Panel - Add or remove programs.
Once the list fills, scroll to the bottom of the list a KB2862330 discovery.
Remove this update, as well as all this that followed and that just before KB2862339.  Some of the pop up windows will have a small check box asking if you want to do not restart the computer after you remove the update.  Check the box so that the computer does not restart until you are done to remove these updates.
After you remove the, shut down the computer, wait 20 seconds, and then restart.
After this restart, go to: start Windows Update and let it pick up and reload the updates.

If this does not work, try again but this time not to restart the computer.  Just remove the updates and then go to Windows Update.

    Good luck.

  • Suddenly are not install updates to Windows XP. Question started with 7 automatic updates on 7/12 and every day since, without success.

I have tried to download Fix - It Microsoft .NET Framework but had msg: this product not supported by X 86 operating system.  What?   Can anyone suggest what is the problem, why suddenly updates do not occur.  Thank you!

I guess that we are talking about updates .NET Frameworks then since you did not say which ones fail, etc.?

A common problem with .NET updates. To do this...

If it's updates of .NET 1.1 you speak:
Uninstall the .NET Framework 1.1. Then download the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool
In the drop-down list box, select 1.1 and clean.
    Reinstall .NET Framework 1.1
Download and install. NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
Visit Windows Update or Microsoft Update and let it install the rest of the 1.1 updates.

If it's updates to .NET 2.0 you speak:
Uninstall the .NET Framework 2.0. Then download the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool
In the drop-down list box, select 2.0 and clean.
    Reinstall .NET Framework 2.0
Visit Windows Update or Microsoft Update and let it install the rest of the 2.0 updates.

Check if they install and report.

I don't think updates for 3.5 where released this last patch Tuesday, but not 100% sure. If so, do the same for them.
