The upgrade from XP - Pro 32-bit to Windows 7 Pro questions

I'm working on a T3400 precision with XP Professional. I believe that when it was purchased in January 2010, it's a PC running Windows 7 Pro and he ordered with an installed XP Professional downgrade. The sticker on the Tower Microsoft says Windows 7 Pro.

In any case, it is on the "Compatible with Windows 7" list of Dell, but I'm under Windows 7 Upgrade advisor to check that there is no problem. (It worked for at least 3 hours now...) We did no change of material from the purchase - just different programs.

I read the guide from Microsoft for the upgrade & I understand I have to perform a custom Setup out of the upgrade disc. Which means reinstalling all my programs. Which is a pain but nothing I can't handle most of my programs. Except that I am concerned about programs that was already installed on the PC by Dell. Namely my Adobe Acrobat & Microsoft Office 2007 programs. Did I lose those? Or I'll be able to download & reinstall the wrench off the Microsoft sticker on my tour?

We have not bought a disc yet. I guess that we need Windows 7 Pro upgrade disc. Anything else I should know?

In the United States, you can request a Dell installation disk:

support.Dell.com/.../backupcd_form

Alternatively, you can also install using retail media, then activate by phone from Microsoft (not Dell) using the product on your COA key:

www.heidoc.NET/.../14-Windows-7-direct-download-links

In regards to Adobe and office... you should have received license for those cards.  If you have lost, you can probably recover with Magic Jelly Bean or similar, get support for retail, then activate using the keys.

  • Upgrade from Vista Ultimate 32 bit to Windows 7 Home Premium

I'm running a GM 5424 Gateway System I bought with Vista 32 Ultimate on it.    A year ago I bought the dvd of Windows 7 Home Premium at Wal-Mart.    Can I do a upgrade in place without having to reinstall all my programs application?   I understand the Win 7 Upgrade advisor a few programs may not be compatible and is not a problem.

I was wondering if the upgrade in place is available for this combination or to I need to do a clean install (which I am dreading because it means at least a week of work to re - install everything what I really need.)     Whether it is a new installation or an upgrade in place, I also know that I have several days of Windows updates for Windows 7 until the current patch level, since the OEM Win/7 disc includes only through SP 1.    I have other computers (laptops) running Windows 7 and 8 to win.

My PC has a 500 GB drive and I've upgraded to 8 GB of memory in a couple of years (I realize the 32 bit OS does not use everything), but I want to go to the 64-bit version of Win/7 since my CPU and hardware will support it.   I've already replaced my NIC with a compatible card Win/7.

I already intend to have at least 2 backups made to two different USB 1 terabyte disk drives and also will have all of my data backed up online via BackBlaze.

    Please notify.  Thanks in advance!

Yes, no problem, as long as you stick with 32-bit Windows. And almost
all the programs will be compatible.

or that I must do a clean install (which I am dreading because it means at least a week of work to re - install everything what I really need.)

but I want to go to the 64-bit version of Win/7 because my processor and hardware will support it.

However, it is not possible to change the number of 'bits' of Windows, of
32-bit to 64-bit or vice versa. The only way to get there is what you
    Dread - a new installation.

Another point: Windows 7 is now two generations old. As far as I am
concerned, she brings more much sense to upgrade to a young person of these
Version. I recommend going to 10 Windows instead.

I have Vista 32 bit Home Premium. It does not support Windows Mail.Which is the best operating system to upgrade from Vista? Should I buy Windows 7, 8 or 8.1? I do not have a touch screen system, my system is five years old.

    Original title: upgrade

    Hello WilliamPopat,

If you want to buy an another operating system, you would do better to buy the latest version, i.e., Windows 8.1 it doesn't matter that you don't have a touch screen like Windows 8.1 will work just as well on a desktop PC / laptop normal.

However, before rushing and buying a copy of Windows 8.1, I suggest that you look at this link http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/11885-windows-8-upgrade-assistant-download-run.html the link above shows Windows 8 Upgrade Wizard you can download (free) and allows you to check that your PC is compatible with the latest version of Windows.

According to me, one of my office machines is around 5 or 6 years and Windows 8/8.1 works fine on it.  However, it is best to check your own machine with the wizard upgrade just in case.

  • The upgrade from VMware Workstation 12: can I install above?

So I just bought a license to upgrade to workstation 12. Now, I noticed that it is (finally) 64-bit native. However, 11 Workstation is native 32-bit. Can I just install VMware Workstation 12 top like I did the upgrade from 10 to 11? Because the 10 and 11 were native 32-bit.

    The question is moot.
Upgrade has always meant uninstall the old version, install the new version.
If you do it yourself, you have more control, but the results will be the same.

The safest option is: uninstall manually - reboot - check registry for services that have not been removed - if necessary, repair registry - restarts again and then install the new version right after the restart.

  • The upgrade from 11g to 12 c

    Hello

We intend to improve our databases of 11g (11.2.0.3.11) to 12 c (12.1.0.2). We would like to know what are the steps that we need to upgrade the position.

    (1) all 11 g AWs automatically updated to 12 c? or do we rebuild US 11g AWs on 12 c after the upgrade? (We had to rebuild AWs after upgrading to 10g and 11g)

    (2) are there accessories performance in 12 c, which will apply to only AWS built on top of the 12 c?

    (3) we have an AW 10 g 11 g-based. Is it still compatible with 12 c AW?

    Thank you

    Dietsch.

    Hi dietsch,

    My answers are online.

    (1) all 11 g AWs automatically updated to 12 c? or do we rebuild US 11g AWs on 12 c after the upgrade? (We had to rebuild AWs after upgrading to 10g and 11g)

The upgrade from 11g to 12 c requires no AWs to rebuild.

    (2) are there accessories performance in 12 c, which will apply to only AWS built on top of the 12 c?

He might have a few new optimizations that have been incorporated into the version of 12 c of the AW you will not have access to until you rebuild the AW, but that does not prevent you from using the 11g version of the AW of 12 c.

    (3) we have an AW 10 g 11 g-based. Is it still compatible with 12 c AW?

Yes, 12 c is backward compatible with an AW 10 g.

In addition, once you upgrade it has some new features that you can use for OLAP.  The display below describe some of them.

  • Since the upgrade to first Pro CC 2015.1 version 9.1.0 (174) version all my media is on hold. How can I fix it?

Since the upgrade to first Pro CC 2015.1 version 9.1.0 (174) version all my media is on hold. How can I fix it?

I've been using the last verisions and upgrades were OK. I recently allowed my computer upgraded to Windows 10, all right. Organization worked OK, until the update of the week last in the latest version. the first project that I opened was to be converted (normal), but all media is pending, including in the media browser.

    No media has been moved.

    How can I fix?

If I've been using this for a life I would be quite upset now.

Imagine if I were to dig trenches Friday with my shovel Catapillar and cat updated engine on Saturday and Monday I find that it will not dig more... :-(

It seems that I fixed it myself, but I do not know what part was fixing.

I found the menu to clean the cache, Edit > preferences > Media, Media Cache database and click on clean up. Who did nothing immediately, so I stop the program and restarted.

During the restart of all media is now here.

Why have I not to do... Grrrrr.

I just want to know how it happened to one of our producer/Editor. It is his story. "She hung the three hard drives to 9 from FCP, has opened the program from Premiere Pro and created a new project file. Then she dragged the files, .mxf per season per show in the Premiere Pro project file. To organize additional files in labels and others per show per season, she decided to redo the project file. She highlighted the files on the window of Premiere Pro and click on delete. She then tried to repeat the move but this time, the program could not read the file type extension. One of our Publisher checked raw materials of the external hds but unfortunately the files is no longer there. Our question is how it happened because according to her, there is no prompt that it will be deleted in the external source files. Please help so that we can avoid it in the future. Hoipng for your immediate response. Thank you

First does not remove the files. The option to delete files from the hard drive only appears when you perform offline files in the first project window.

The editor is sure that she has deleted the files in the window of Premiere project and not on the hard drive itself?

    >>

Better is not not to drag but to import or to ingest via Media Browser in the first.

I'm guessing she files deleted from the hard drive.

Hello, I have an old Dell Inspiron E1505, I bought in 2006, which I have upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 Pro last an online purchase that came with a product key of designertechsoftware.com in April of 2014. Months later, the hard drive has so I replace w / a 60 GB one and replaced the RAM w / 2-1 GB cards. I don't have a disc of Windows 7 Pro but I got it work using the old XP dics, originally, it came with. Can I use this disc to enter the product key code that I got online for Windows 7? I see there is an upgrade option that comes up when I run the XP disk once it's been installed on my laptop. Thanks in advance for your help in my question. Not sure if it has been already answered the previous question.

Your best option is to ask a backup copy or to borrow the corresponding edition, you have a license from a friend. Ensure that it is a upgrade disk or any retail version is authentic.
