The upgrade on Pavilion 9667ea hard drive to SSD

I think the upgrade my computer laptop 9667ea Pavilion by replacing the first hard drive of 160 GB with an SSD, as the Cruicial M500 240 GB SATA 111, or similar.

Could you tell me if there are problems in doing this, because I see no other posted messages it may be according to the model of your laptop?

I advanced and bought the SSD (Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB), which has been installed on the HP Pavilion dv9667ea. Everything went well and I used the Samsung software cloning with the SSD drive (I backed up the C drive beforehand). I have power and data cables, so I need just the package base. The new 250 GB SSD drive replaces the original 160 GB hard drive, I decided to take out the other drive so hard 160 GB. The laptop is much faster at startup and is also faster by using the programs on the laptop. As there are now no hard drives on the laptop, there is now virtually no fan noise, which was inconvenient.

Thank you for your advice.

  • The upgrade of Inspiron 9300 Hard Drive not recognized

I bought an upgrade of my Inspiron 9300 laptop hard drive:

Old hard drive: TG754 Hard Drive, 60G, 9.5 MM, 7.2 K Hitachi, Moraga, unleaded

New hard drive: 250 GB SATA 3 Gb s hard drive 16 MB 7200 RPM 2.5 IN. w o free fall Scorpio black

    TG754 Hard drive, 60G, 9.5 MM, Hitachi 7.2 K, Moraga, unleaded

I don't know I installed it correct (just slide in and screw it) but my problem is that my laptop does not recognize the new drive.  When starting it complains that no hard drive is, and when I boot my Windows XP it also said that no hard drive is located.

I followed the upgrade recommended Dell so I do not know why it does not work.  I read that the SATA drives require additional drivers, but I'm sure that my old drive was already a SATA drive, so I don't understand why he is not recognized.

    Help, please.  Thank you.

The 9300 has been performed in two versions - the vast majority were EIDE.  The last execution of production used SATA.  Yours is EIDE.

Readers are physically the same size and made the same carrier - but does not connect the SATA version to the motherboard (check the back both discs and you'll see why).

The EIDE version has a limit of 120G BIOS - it means not that you can not use this drive of 160 G, but the results can be unpredictable, sudden loss of all data.  Keep backups if you try a 160 - it is much safer to use a 120G.

No, a 5400 all else equal will be slower than a 7200 - but you don't have a choice, because all manufacturers have stopped making 7200 RPM EIDE (PATA) computer laptop some time ago.

  • Speed up the options for an old HP a1224n. The upgrade possible CPU or HARD drive?

My a1224n is stuck in programs such as Rhapsody and ITunes run.  I have 4 teenagers with mp3 players, and it seems that more they get, slow tracks of the machine.  Under XP SP3, motherboard is 3 goldfish with a LGA775 socket.  I have all the RAM pushed in there, I can get.  It is not a problem of spyware, I clean, degrag and regedit regularly, firmer all the essential background programs.  It was a long introduction to my question, which is: would changing the CPU or install a higher speed of disk HARD save me, or am I wasting time?  If so, what limits me on the selection of a CPU?  This is a speed of frontside motherboard, socket or something else (I know heat load and the processor speed max are issues).  ... Change my hard drive or install a second hard drive?  I would replace the current 200 GB 7200 rpm HDD with a 600 10 k RPM HARD drive, or simply add a second HD and empty all my media files?  A lot of questions, can't find someone who knows the answers.  Need help.  Here are some indications of the fact sheets: processor Intel Pentium 4 519 (P), 3.06 GHz, 533 MHz front bus, Socket 775.  Motherboard: ASUS LRTP-(3 fish red-GL8E), the front bus at 800 MHz, chipset northbridge 915GV, southbridge Intel ICH6.

    Hello:

If you have installed 4 GB of DDR PC3200, then if you install used without work, processor Pentium 4 650 3.4/800/2M I think you will see a notable improvement on your current configuration.

I can't guarantee this will work, but I'm sure it will, based on the information below.

If you don't have PC2700, your memory performance will suffer with the 800 MHz FSB P4 650 processor.

Attached are the specs of your motherboard:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00361570

I have a dc7100 with the same chipset, so I'm pretty sure that a P4 650 will work in your. I have a P4 640 (3.2 GHz) I got it for free, so I installed which instead of the 650. If I were to buy one, I would have bought the 650. I installed a P4 650 in a Dell Dimension 4700 with the same Intel 915 chipset. Works great! I upgraded the Dell of a P4 520 to 650 2.8/800/1M and this was a significant improvement. You would increase by nearly 400 MHz and 266 Mhz FSB speed.

HP has drivers for PC for Windows Vista and Windows 7 64-bit. The only processors that can work with an OS that is supported with the chipset 915, 64 bits are P4 6xx processors. So, I guess that your PC supports processors P4 6xx up to 3.4 GHz, as shown in the plug from motherboard.

You can get a P4 650 used but works for less than $25 on eBay.

I do not see an update of the BIOS that requires support new processors, so you should be good to go.

If your HARD drive is less than 60% full, I see no need for an additional HARD drive. I don't even know if the computer supports a 10 K rpm HARD drive.  I don't know if your machine's HARD drive controller supports SATA II HDD's 3.0 GB/S transfer speeds. I don't think he does.  So no matter what HARD drive you buy would go to 1.5 GB/S SATA transfer speed and you could you jumper the drive for this work.

The main disadvantage that I see on your PC, it is impossible to install a PCie graphics adapter. Your integrated graphics (GMA900) will not work the graphics of Windows Aero in Windows 7 or Vista. It is not a show-stopper, but a lot of people have improved their PC / laptop computers equipped with the integrated GMA 900 graphics card just for this discover later and were very disappointed. If you were able to install a PCIe graphics card, say a cheap 8400GS 512 MB fanless nVidia card, it would have released a memory embedded amount and you would have noticed an improvement even more.

So, for an investment of $25 in a P4 processor 650 you could squeeze a few more horses (no pun intended) out of it.

Other than that, I would look to buy a new PC / opportunity made from 2008. They should all be able to Windows 7 because they would have been Windows Vista capable in 2008.

    I hope this helps.

  • The old hard drive SATA SSD upgrade

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I have another question which may be useful for other people doing the same type of recovery.

I ordered the recovery CD for my laptop HP 2000 only today.

To improve performance, I also think to replace the installed at factory 320 hard drive (HDD) with a 240GB solid state drive (SSD).

QUESTION: Should the OS recovery CD/DVD drive must be the same size - 320? Of course, WIndows will adapt very well to a 240 GB drive. Is the recovery process re-create the recovery partition and part of the restoration process?

Thanks for your time and advice.

It is advisable not to go smaller on the replacement drive. SSD are pretty inexpensive for 500G at the moment. You don't want to go smaller. It doesn't have to be the same size, but it must always be greater anything smaller. Resumption of the factory will create AS since the configuration partition and recovery of factory if you use the factory recovery media.

  • Replacing HP Pavilion-e070sl hard drive with an ssd, how to re - install windows 8 64?

    Hello

I recently buyed a Hp Pavilion-e070sl delivered pre-installed with W 8 64 and I need to know how the name of God how can I reinstall the operating system, since there was no installation dvd disc in the box? Or better (if we exclude the recovery manager and windows recovery disk), if somehow the hard drive does not work and I can't revive the laptop only by replacing one damaged by a new, how do I re - install the OS? And no, I want to order and pay twice.

    Any idea will be useful.

    Thanks in advance.

    You are the very welcome.

Try to do the recovery with your old hard drive first media and see if it would work.

If this isn't the case, then I guess you have nothing to lose to see if the English version of the W8 will be install and activate it, but I don't know if you can change the language.

    If you can, great.

I m not very well what HARD drive you have exactly, but in the case of the password disk HARD unknown could be deleted, so I guess that by using such software.

But I'm afraid, this is not possible and if yes, then secure files could serve more than m.

I say it in a different way: password protection would be useless if you can remove any unknown or forgotten password. Don't you think?

    DAY

If there is any life left in the drive, it is usually possible to recover some of the files. The simplest method uses a hard drive USB enclosure or a card. Then you plug it into a usb port on a computer to work and can browse the disc hard as internal hard drive. Copy files to the hard drive of the host computer.

There is no practical way to do it.

If you do not enable iCloud Drive on your Mac, you can upload files to iCloud by car via the web interface at https://www.icloud.com

But you can access the files from the web interface and won't icloud drive as drive in the Finder.  You cannot use the Finder to access the files. You need to download it to use.
