Steve

If I were you (and my computer) I would opt for 64 bit for several reasons.  No doubt, it's a pain, but not a recurring.

Yes the parameters is a simple gesture.  Since firefox is 32-bit, it will work either.

Dependent on 32-bit level

Earn 8 a Metro and regulaer of the office.  You can easily switch using the key of the 'victory '.

You can pin, have lists of shortcuts and virtually everything that you now on win 7.

Don't get me wrong, it's different and you will love it or hate it.

Good luck.  (BTW I used it as my only OS since February)

If you have a retail copy of Ultimate, you can use the button to do an Anytime Upgrade - all files and programs will remain on the computer.

Upgrade Express using a key of already purchased the retail Pro/Ultimate

In Windows 7 Home Premium, type Anytime Upgrade in search programs and files box on the start menu, and then click the Windows Anytime Upgrade.  From there, you can enter your product key for Windows 7 Professional/ultimate retail (full or upgrade) and perform a simple upgrade. Online Anytime Upgrade is not available in all countries. All programs and files will remain on the computer, there is no drive necessary and it takes about 10 minutes.

If you have a full key or upgrade of retail it will work with any time to upgrade. If you have an OEM key, academic key or Volume license key will not work with the Express upgrade.

  • Several activations phone for the upgrade (reinstall) Win7 32 bit to Win7 64-bit, then run the patch to get Win10 64-bit? Adviser says no need!

[Subject title changed to take account of the answers and expert advice, the original title was 1 or 2 time phone activation? Failure of the mobo, replace & reinstall Win 7 32 bit (1st time), reinstall as Win 7 64 bit (2nd time?)]

My mother Office card failed recently, it is installed with retail 32 bit Windows 7 Home Premium and family (3 users) Office 2010 package. Two Microsoft products have product keys.

My understanding is change of motherboard: computer transfer. While the retail Windows 7 allow to reactivate by phone, but to reactivate Office 2010 will depends on a license agreement (which I haven't checked: 2 installations on computers, died 1 single installation still work left.) Will need to contact the family member to read).

My 2nd understanding is I can try to connect my hard drive to a new motherboard and let it go through for direct start startup repair. Is better because I don't have data because of the sudden failure of the motherboard (for example bookmarks for the browser explore, can only log into the existing facility backup).

But being upgraded to the new motherboard (and the new quad core processors), certainly I wouldn't keep running 32-bit system in the future.

I would reinstall under Windows 7 64-bit later, then a free update to Windows 10 64-bit. (Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor reported that I can not direct implementation installation upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7. Must pass through the new Setup again.)

Whereas for the 32-bit Office 2010... I could continue to use it as it is if it is allowed to reactivate on new motherboard.

Now, my question: to reactivate Windows 7 32-bit (and 32-bit Office 2010) with phone, later when I finished the backup of the data and do clean install Windows 7 64 bit (and 32-bit Office 2010), do I need to do to activate by phone, again? Or simply key in the original product key from the license of Windows 7 and Office 2010 already recognized the new motherboard?

If I need do activate phone 2 times, I might as well direct own to install 64 bit Windows 7 now (despite the loss of some data).

There is nothing worse you could install on your system than McAfee.  If you have it installed I would like to reinstall Windows it's a Goner.  The uninstall tool likely will not solve everything.

I'm not "understand why, you need to install Windows 7 64-bit just to make a less than 10 Windows upgrade when you have a much better install directly Clean install Windows 10 Upgrade , then activate directly with the product key Windows 7."

As to reactivate Office, wait until you get 10 windows up and then make the activation of the phone to help build just to install an Office (or 3 If you have a 3-pack of office, also).   Otherwise, you will have to redo the reinstallation of upgrade.

  • Considering the upgrade to Win7

Since the upgrade to Win7 for my new computer, I bought in Italy, which has Windows Vista installed with Italian language settings. Is there an option during the upgrade to get the English version of Win7?

    Hello

You cannot change your language in Home Premium. It is only possible in Ultimate and Enterprise.

MUIs are exclusive to Ultimate and can be found via the option Update updates Windows.

Run Upgrade Advisor before you begin the installation.

  • Can I use a key to upgrade Windows 7 32 - bit for the upgrade to Vista 64 - bit, 7 64-bit, with a 64-bit upgrade disc?

It's a bit complicated, but I appreciate all help.

    I have the following:
    1. access to a genuine copy of Windows Vista 64-bit (regardless of the version I want) through IEEE Computer Society.
    2. a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit upgrade disc purchased through a program of student software in 2010. Shortly after using the disk and the key, the laptop I was using died due to hardware problems.
    3. a drive to upgrade Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit bought via the same pattern of student software, including an unused key.
Student software system only allows users to buy a copy of each version, so I can't buy it simply another copy of the 64-bit version.
I wonder if it is possible to use the key of the 32-bit version with the version 64-bit upgrade disk to upgrade a 64 bit Windows Vista installation to Windows 7? If this is not the case, unfortunately, I'll be stuck with Vista.

    Hi Paldor

Windows 7 Professional 32 bit product key will attempt to activate the Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installation. The only condition, in this case, is that the (Professional) edition is the same.

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop came with VISTA 32/64 Bit HOME PREMIUM system (DOUBLE).
So, you can use Vista 32 bit or 64 bit

Just to clarify this: you used Vista 32 bit in the past and updated the Vista 32 bit to Win 7 32 bit. Right?

Well, if you want to use Win 7 64 bit, you can upgrade to Vista 64-bit for Win 7 64 bit, or you must be a new install of Win 7 64 bit using a floppy Microsoft Win 7 64 bit.

  • X61T overheating slightly after upgrade to win7 64 bit

    Hello

I just upgraded my X61t with a new SSD and Win7 Home 64 bit. But I noticed it's running more hot (temperature displayed by CoreTemp) than the previous Vista 32bits. While Vista 32 was about 60 with a maximum of 70 degrees, Win7 64 bit is mostly 70 with a maximum of 85.

Is this normal? What worry, anyone seen this symptom with Win7 already? Maybe I should stay with 32 bit?

What is the operating system or some driver missing?

    (I have the BIOS 1.25)

    Hello

After that a few days on Win7-64 is still no update from Windows Update, don't know why. Finally, I went with Win7-32 and updates quickly popped up, installed all the + all the stuff from Lenovo and it works ok now. It still runs hot sometimes (about 80) when the CPU is at full load, but otherwise seems normal.

  • The upgrade of ot 32 - bit 64-bit?

    Hello

I ask this question to my friend. Its operating system is Win 7 32 bit. He has heard that 64-bit is better and he asked me later is is it possible to change from 32-bit to 64-bit? As I am not aware of this, I write this question here. What is this 32-bit and 64 - bit? I read about this on Wikipedia. But I didn't understand anything... !

Is it possible to change a 32 bit OS to 64-bit?

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • To use SQL Developer 4.0.1 (4.0.1.14.48) on the operation of Win7 32-bit; but no JDK provided with the 32-bit download?

For some reason, my IT Department installed a 32-bit Win7 on a laptop capable of 64-bit (HP ProBook 6460 b).

I want to download and use SQL Developer 4.0.1 but see there is no 32 - bit download of it delivered with a suitable JDK.

    What are my options here

    (1) anyone can provide a download link for the appropriate JDK, and then what I do with it? I can place it in the same folder as the SQL Developer? I don't have administrative rights on my laptop by the way...

    (2) can I ask my IT dept to reimage my machine with Win7 64 bit rather than the 32-bit Win7?

Here are the specifications of my laptop. Because it seems to be able to address up to 16 GB of RAM, I suspect 32 bit Win7 was installed as the laptop has only 4G of RAM in it. And without having to address more than 4 GB of RAM, it was perhaps the deciding factor to install a 32-bit version on Win7. Frankly, had not realized, he had nothing, but a 64 bit version of Windows 7:

What is the least disruptive option / path of least resistance here?

    http://h10010.www1.HP.com/wwpc/pscmisc/VAC/us/product_pdfs/HP_ProBook_6460b_Notebook_PC_Datasheet.PDF

You must inform your IT Department, you want a 64 bit OS.

Then tell them you want to double your RAM.

    Trust me on this one.

If they say no, then ask them to install Java 32 bit 7 on your machine, and you'll be ready to go.

    I have a Tecra M11 - 17z with the pre-installed OS 32 - bit Windows 7 Professional.
I want to change the 64-bit operating system.

For this I have to do a 'clean' custom install the 64-bit system.
As this is a new laptop and the software bundle that came with the laptop can be downloaded I don't mind to do this.

Do I have to buy a new Windows 7 Professional to clean install 64-bit?
Where is the best place to go for the software needed?

    Ideas and help very appreciated.

    > Should I buy a new Windows 7 Professional to clean install 64-bit?
I guess the image pre-installed on this laptop contains just 32boit version of Win 7.
So yes, you need to buy a Win 7 64 bit Microsoft Disk in order to install the 64-bit version.

    > Where is the best place to go for the software needed?
You can purchase Win 7 64 bit across most of the stores online like Amazon is a hotel and I think it would be the easiest and fastest way to get to this
