  • Built in Administrator - "access denied" when you try to install the drivers

I have a problem with the built in Administrator account. I connect as administrator and try to install a device and the driver and get failure because of "access denied." It's probably NEVER supposed to happen because the administrator is supposed to have TOTAL control over everything. To be clear, I am NOT as a user with administrative privileges.

The installed operating system is Windows 7 Enterprise edition and was part of a domain, but is now independent. I hope that all field controls have been removed, but these should not affect the functioning of the administrator in terms of right at all?

Relocation is not really an option because we cannot save data - because the device driver for the external hard drive can not be installed - Access denied.

Someone should be able to help! I'm desperate!

I suggest you try to disable the driver signature when starting and start installing the drivers.

  • I forgot my windows XP administrator password and the returned solutions "access denied."

I tried all of the following without success.

Since your account invited > start > run Type "cmd".

    Once command prompt opens type

NET user comments / add an administrator

    Press enter

It works on computers pretty much all that I tried, it elevates the guest account to Administrator status, where you are free to edit and change things, that you must change.

    OR

Since your account invited > start > run Type "cmd".

    Once command prompt opens type

NET user administrator (or the name of your administrator account) *.

    Press enter

You will now be able to enter a password for this account. Confirm the password and Voila! You should now be able to log on to your account with the password that you set.

    OR

System startup and when you see the home screen, press ctrl + alt + delete twice and it'll show a connection box. Now type administrator username and leave empty Pword. Now, press Enter and you should be able to open a session.

Now you can reset your password from the control panel and user accounts.

    OR

Enter SafeMode to restart the computer and press f8 repeatedly until a screen somes up which gives you a few options, use the arrow keys to the forts of the 'start windows in safe mode' when you start windows in safe mode, you will see a new account on the login screen, titled administrator , click on it, there is no password (unless you have changed it).

  • Impossible to update of Windows Media Player and Microsoft Security Essentials and the error is "access denied error 80070005."

Apparently an involuntary change of administrative privileges or permissions (Windows XP Pro, SP3) keeps me updated Media Player version 9 to 11 v. and updated virus Security Essentials definitions.
For Media Player, wmsetup.log reports access denied error 80070005 and UpdSpAPI.log reports access denied for the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding\LowRate registry key. In regedt32, I'm blocked from display HKLM\...\MediaPlayer\Settings and below, and "are allowed to view the current permission settings, but... can make a change." Except that I can't. I can enter the change but get «...» Access is denied"trying to apply them. So this is the first problem that I need help.
But of course it's more than a registry key and the subkeys, because MSE too is affected and will download but not install virus definitions. WindowsUpdate.log reports: failed to install with error 80070643.
My user account (it's the only one!) is part of the Administrators group and all that I tried to verify administrative permissions is positive. This is a new issue. No virus/malware, according to MSE, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, MalWarebytes Anti-Malware.

    Hi Fmicaeli,

Thanks for posting on the Community Forums of Microsoft Vista.

Have you tried to run the command at the elevated command prompt?

However, you can first try to allow the default administrator on your computer and try to run the command in elevated command prompt and verify if you are able to run the command successfully.

To activate the default Administrator account, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type CMD in the start search box

    2. right click on CMD in the list and click "Run as Administrator"

    3. type the following command: net user administrator / Active: Yes

Restart the computer and you should see an "Administrator" account

Access administrator account and follow the steps 1 and 2 and try to run the command.

Also let us know if you are connected to a network or domain.

    It will be useful.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Some files have transformed a 'green' color, others are the normal 'black' - access denied to 'green' files

Some files on my external hard drive (MS office files) are suddenly inaccessible - I get an 'access denied' and the files are "green." Not all the files have changed. I have not changed all permissions. I have home access to the full administrator on this laptop.

I use Windows Vista Home premium.

Can someone help me with this please.

I've never heard of a file becoming green before - it may be a security program or another program third-party (I don't think it's Vista).  The best thing to do is to check and change the permissions and if necessary take possession of the files/folders.  Do you have a third-party suite (or anti-virus program) security or firewall program (if so, what name and which version)?  Here is an example of a program that causes the problem to deny access AND lights up green files: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-encrypt-your-computers-hard-disk-data-and-files-for-free/.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can keep them in read-only to other users, customers and administrators even (although they can support themselves and access, if they wish, and it is really not that you can do to stop it except protect the file with a password by using a 3rd party product.)  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • Problem with the files offline - access denied

I solved this problem, but I was unable to find the answer directly, so I wanted to post it

I have a Windows XP laptop that had files offline works suddenly stopped working. the error popping up was "access denied."

The user has had plenty of sharing and security on the network share permissions. They could create files on the share, but could not in any way make a folder available offline

The question has been localized to this laptop

The problem has proved to be the encryption of offline files. Once I turned off the power, the denied access had disappeared. Everything works perfectly

  • Permissions of the user - administrative permissions

As it goes with all Microsoft products, I was an alternative to get away the illogical people at Microsoft.  In this case, their insatiable desire for everything do so difficult and unstable that when a problem occurs, there is no answer or solution.  I lost from one day to the next my permission on a computer on which I built using Vista Ultimate and it basically makes your computer of all the unusable data now or in the future.  As with most Microsoft problems their illogical security permissions and the absence of instructions on how to set permissions for a single computer at home are par for the course.

How to bring back once the operating system Vista deleted the administrator administrator rights.  What I said is that I cannot and it will lose most of the items on the hard drive, unless I have spend a fortune to download these files on another computer.  Microsoft staff, of course are never available to fix call or help their product, just to sell and would not consider any warranty claims they can get.  What a monopoly.

  • The files offline - access denied

    Hello. I have this problem.
I have Windows 7 PRO and when I try to do a few directories available offline, I get the messge in Sync Center - access denied on almost all files... then I can't access those files... I can't open or copy, move, delete these files (it seems that I don't have permission to this topic (, but I got it). So I tried to fix it (several hours).

    I only managed these solutions:
1 / when I disabled offline files in Sync Center, and then I restarted OS, everything was OK. I can open, edit, delete, copy, etc... all files. BUT I do not have these files oflline. O :)
2 / I tried many steps, like remove completely offline files or that I deleted the CSC on the windows... file folder but nothing... whenever I've enabled offline files and a few direcotries on the server I have made available offline, there was the same problem... ACCESS IS DENIED

I tried to find the solution on many portals but nothing (I found problems with this problem on Vista and there was a repair KB, but isn't for Win 7...)

    Please help me.
Is - this officially bug on Windows 7?
This problem on PC or server (I think it's problem on Windows 7)? We have these problems on all the PCs in our company...
We have Windows Server 2008 R2.

    Thank you very much

    Hello!

I have never used these forums before so please shoot me if I'm doing something I shouldn't.
(Edit: just to find I've used them before, well you know)

I know this is an old post, but I found the answer!  I've spent 2 days looking for a solution to this problem covering along the way:

I stumbled upon the answer to a question of the exchange of Experts , simply disable the encryption of offline files:

    1. Open Sync Center - Start | Accessories | Sync Center
    2. Click on 'Manage offline files' on the left hand side
    3. Click on the tab "encryption".
    4. Click "decode".

For me I just changed my settings of group policy for the domain to the title of computer management > policies > administrative templates > network > offline files > encrypt the offline files cache.

For this setting to take effect, I think you need to re - initialize cache (offline files store) client-side.  In Windows Vista/7 you must do in the registry as the old method of holding WHAT CTRL + SHIFT when you click "Delete temporary files" does not work:

    1. Navigate to the location next to the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Csc\Parameters
    2. Create a new DWORDValue called FormatDatabase , set to 1
    3. Reset (the new key will be deleted after reboot with the offline cache)

You must modify the /etc/pam.d/vami-sfcb file to change the reading of the line "auth required pam_succeed_if.so uid eq 0' to succeed/deny rule change.»

For example, you can change the line to read "auth required pam_succeed_if.so uid > = 0' and then allow any user with a UID of 0 or more to connect to the console of the web."
