  the message resource is present, but the message is not in the string/message table

  I don't know how to fix it. It was working fine yesterday. Nothing has changed. Or has anyone experience this problem and have a solution?

• Workstation 8 vmware-workstation-server works not not on Ubuntu 11.10

  Just, I have upgraded my Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.10 and replaced VMWare Server 2.0 with Workstation 8.02.  It seems that the vmware-workstation-server service is not running.  I'm unable to connect from a web page and the application vmware itself is not able to connect.  When I try to activate the dialog application vmware service I get the following messages in the terminal window where I ran vmware:

  If I believe that the service is running, but not doing anything, even though I do not see a specific process for this and there seems to be a vmware-workstation-server executable in/usr/bin.

  Not very well where to go from here.   I tried to uninstall and reinstall the workstation and even using a different port number for the Desktop server, but without any result.

  Suggestions welcome.

  Are you running other services on port 443 on this host?

  I'm having a problem with my server vCenter 4.0. Less than an hour of a reboot, the VMware VirtualCenter Server service stops. If I restart it... It works for about an hour, then stops again. The following event is logged in the system event log. The VMware VirtualCenter Server service stopped with the error service special 2 (0x2).

  I'm SQL2005 Express is using a virtual machine, windows 2003 Std, 1vCPU, 4 Gb RAM Tomcat and SQL use a lot of memory.

  It is a similar problem to the responces you find on google - but not the same thing. My service will stop about an hour after a reboot clean and efficient.

  Ideas?

  So yes, you have exceeded your environment.  Still doesn't tell me if you looked at the SQL Express newspapers, because I'm sure that's the problem.

  Whenever I have begin to collect data, vcenter service stops or restarts, if I stop data collection and to disable the agent, vcenter service again and works well.

  It is a known issue, relating to the collection of historical data being enabled (nonzero) in the properties of the VMWare Agent on the Agent status screen.

  Change to 0 to disable/re-enable the agent and it should fix the problem.

  Please open a ticket of level 1 with telephone support if you need more help.

• Cannot start the VMWare host agent service

  I worked on this issue for awhile with no resolution.  Initially, I had a problem running VMWare Server Home Page so I installed the VMWare Server Console and the error when trying to launch the Console VMWare Server on the same server VMWare Server is installed and connect locally:

  501 command overall GLOBAL Server-vmdb targets no host agent not supported.

  Came to the conclusiong that it was the result of the function of Agent Host VMware is not able to start.

  Environment:

  IBM BladeCenter HT chassis

  IBM eServer HS21 - 8853AC1

  NetXtreme Broadcom5704S

  2 x Quad Core Intel Xeon E5440 2.83 GHz

  Initially, I installed VMWare Server 2.0 and then upgraded to 2.0.1 to see if that would solve the issue but always without success.

  Event Viewer message:

  Host VMware Agent service terminated with service specific error 4294967295 (0XFFFFFFFF)

  Not tried so far:

  1. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times without success

  2. Tried to manually start the VMWare host Agent

  3. Tried the upgrade to VMWARE 2.0 VMWARE 2.0.1

  4. Tried to uninstall and reinstall

  5. Tried to launch the service as ADMINISTRATOR

  It is the only VMWare Server service that does not start... I Googled, and I can't find a resolution to this problem.

  BTW. If IIS is installed and running, try to stop and start the vmware agent

  Please someone explain to me clearly the basic function of the vMware vcenter inventory services.

  See you in you inventory vcenter. A lot of guests. And every time you log into the Web client (Inventory service works only with the web client) and try to see an entity it what will do the vcenter? It will enter into its database and rethink the entry for you?

  vCenter inventory service acts as a cache. It stores all recent or entities of the stock near the most used web client. When you access a parameter in vcenter now. vcenter service won't go to its database for the entity. It will be given by the inventory service. This way the load VPXD is reduced to a minimum.

• Host Windows system restore back up virtual machines the VMWare Workstation?

  Is it save to perform a restore of the system on a Windows host running VMWare Workstation 9.0.2 with the premises of virtual machines? I just need confirmation that the VMs will be still functional after restoring the system.

  Welcome to the community,

  System Restore should not touch all personal documents, what configuration file and virtual disk are in reality. However, a restoration of the system can change the parameters of the application Windows for for example VMware Workstation. Anyway most that should happen is that you have to reinstall VMware Workstation in such a case.

  As Vmware Workstation/server doesn't have a Mac (in the list when you create a new operating system). This is why I would like to know that all versions of Mac leopard and Tiger can be installed via VMware Worksataion/server on Windows XP host computer.

  The answer is 'nothing. '

  It is a violation of licensing/EULA Apple to run OSX on non-Apple hardware.  Virtualization only allowed Mac OS x is currently Leopard Server as a virtual guest on the OSX OS - then only under VMware Fusion on a Mac.

  No, at least not by us.

  Open a hard drive for some reason any at all can be done in special
  laboratory as parameters. Something else will destroy the disk.

  There are companies trying to recover data from broken disks,
  and they are sometimes successful. And who knows, maybe they
  sometimes use methods such as what you describe.

  But if you plan to use such a company, know what they
  are all very expensive. It does not for most people.

  For the future, if you have files you want to be sure are not
  lost, make sure to have in place a backup procedure on a regular basis the
  external media player.

• How can I stop the VMWare Workstation reset "enable sharing"?

  Whenever I have turn on sharing in the preferences, whenever I restart my host, VMWare Workstation computer resets this return to the 'people with disabilities sharing' so then my virtual machines that are supposed to start automatically, never start.

  This is a very serious flaw of VMWare Workstation. How should I report this?

  I'm not a regular user of Windows. so, it's memory... Try to go to control panel and find Services.  The list of services should include the service Server of VMware Workstation .  Check that the service is not configured to be disabled... IIRC, it will have to be set to start automatically.

" I've used ColdFusion 8 with no problem at all adding ODBC data sources. I uninstalled ColdFusion 8 before installing ColdFusion 11.

• Installation of VMware workstation in a machine with vmware server 2.0 is already installed?

  is it possible to install the latest version of vmware workstation (I guess that's 6.5) in a machine where vmware server 2.0 is already installed? where possible there at - it something I should know before installing vmware workstation (eg. problems known, network suspends etc.)? in particual I am a little concerned network mangement (eg. both vmware server and vmware workstation in fact add virtaul adapters: is a possible trouble caouse?). The host of the virtual machine is vista ultimate x 64 with 8gig of ram and a quad core cpu.

  I did a little research, and from what I understand, this was not possible with vmware server 1.0 x.. as the situation has changed with vmware server 2.0?

  (in case you are wondering why I sholud be willing to do):

  I worked with vm ware Server 2.0 for about a year, but now I miss some of the features that are only present in vmware workstation: multiple snapshot and clone VM vm ware server... However is much more flexible when you don't have physical access to your VM host... so I was wondering if it is possible to get the best of both worlds : I would like to use vm ware workstation allows you to configure virtual machines and manage snapshots and vmware server to remotely manage virtual machines, I've created with workstation. Is it not possible?
