the Windows Installer appears after each start up, then disappears. If I try to install anything, he stops and tells me to wait a gift install is complete.

Windows Installer appears after my start, then he explains the preparation of the installation goes. When I try to install or to uninstall it tells me to wait until a current installation is complete.

I'm totally lost on this one.

    Hello Lowki11,

You can also try a System File Checker to see if you have corrupted system files.

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any violation of the integrity and repair any damaged operating system files.

    Reboot your system.

    I hope this helps.

  • The Windows Installer appears when not claimed after you install the new printer.

I installed a Canon S400 printer and now when I open a folder, file or no matter what shortcut (either by double clicking or right click Open) MSI is trying to install one of the two applications PDF I had already installed. After canceling the installation program, the file opens. How can I fix? I am running Windows XP SP2. Please do not say reinstall applications, I have uninstalled them because they proved to be useless junk.

If you don't want to reinstall applications, then use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove these entries.

  • How can I empty the Windows installation on my hard drive?

How can I empty the Windows installation on my hard drive, please?  I was going to re - install, then I changed my mind.
Now, every time that I reboot, instead of launching Windows XP Pro, it try to run Windows installation.  The installation program appears as a second menu item under "Windows XP Pro" on the black screen at launch.

How can I remove it from the startup screen and flush it out of my system?

    Any correction, automated for this?

    Thank you.

It is difficult to determine what you did, but the symptoms you describe can be eliminated by editing the boot.ini file (you can also make things really difficult if you make a mistake when you edit the boot.ini file, so be careful).  Will not be "flush out the Windows installation" of your system, but it will stop the menu from appearing at startup time.

    See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022

Your boot.ini file probably has a second line in the [operating systems] section.  Make sure that you delete only the line that points to the installation routine.

You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.

  • Please can someone explain why the windows Installer keeps appearing when nothing is installed? Any way to stop this?

Why the Windows Installer keep popping up, either on a web page or an e-mail to the office when nothing is installed.  No way to stop that... ?

The desktop of your computer, click on the tab "Start", usually located at the bottom left of the screen (on Vista, it's maybe the windows symbol instead of the word 'Start').

Now, find and click on the program title 'run '. Vista users can locate this program by typing "run" in the area of research at the bottom of the menu 'start '.

Once you open 'Run', type 'MSCONFIG' in the empty box and click 'OK '. This will open the System Configuration utility.

With the open System Configuration utility, select the tab "Services".

Scroll down the list of services (it may be advantageous to click on the 'service' column to sort the services by alphabetical order) until you find the program "Windows Installer".

Now, click on the checkbox next to the name of the Windows Installer and click on the button 'Disable' at the bottom of the Configuration of the system.

There was NOTHING on the internet that has helped me. While I thought, on the permissions, and I thought of my C:\ (main one with what you have).

Here's what I did to fix (this applies to all versions on Windows):

    (1) right click on C:\ (or E:\ whatever one holds your stuff)

    2) go to properties

    (3) under Security, click SYSTEM

    (4) ensure that the SYSTEM has all the permissions on ALL

NOTE: When you do that on that day will be "cannot give permission to C:\boot (for example)" that's fine, just click continue until it's over

    Substitute:

Unregister Windows Installer and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. in the menu 'Start', click on ' execute:.»

    2. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

    3. in the menu 'Start', click 'run '.

    4. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec/regserver", and then press ENTER.
