  • Satellite Pro U400-11V - charges only battery when the computer is turned off

Following a reformatting my hard drive of the computer, my laptop recognizes only the AC/DC power adapter when it is turned off. When the computer is turned on, it does not recognize the AC adapter.

Changed the power supply ac and it made no difference.

Have also tried an update of the BIOS (3.0), I am running Windows Vista 32 bit.

    Hello

I doubt it has something to do with the software or the operating system. In my opinion, that this looks like a hardware problem, because the battery will be always charged if AC/DC adapter is plugged in. That's why it of not necessary to enable this setting in the configuration of the software.

If your BIOS is already updated, contact an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your laptop and maybe the motherboard needs to be replaced.

  • Tecra A5 - charges the battery only when the computer is turned off

    Hello

For a few days, my Tecra A5 has started to beep and stop it (like when the battery is low) then that it was connected to the power supply adapter.

I finally realized that when the computer is plugged in, the battery discharge and does not use the power supply to recharge.

On the other hand, if I turn off the computer, the battery starts to charge.
I replaced the battery a few months ago, so I think it's still OK.

The charger would be defective? Seems strange since it can always recharge the battery when the computer is turned off.

Thanks in advance for your contributions.

    > The charger is defective?

Theoretically; Yes, but could also be electronic supply on the motherboard is affected, but on the first stage of the AC adapter should be verified and laptop needs to be tested with AC adapter new, good work.

  • Laptop battery does not load when the computer is turned on.

    Hello

Yesterday, I was using my laptop when I noticed that the battery was going down. It seemed to be a card problem, because there are two lights on the laptop.

A: light connection light signals that the power cord is connected.

B: light Charge light signals that the battery is charging.

The two lights were turned off.

In my school, we have the same adapters for small Netbook computers. I borrowed one of these Chargers with the consent of the School technicians.

When I plugged in the charger again, my cell phone was off. Light A and B are on. I tried to turn on my computer, but it would not. I unplugged the adapter and the battery and hold the power button for a minute. I plugged my charger, but it won't always turn. I plugged my battery as well and noticed lights B. The battery is being charged. I unplugged the adapter and tried to turn on my laptop. It worked. Fires had been arrested, the battery was in, and it worked.

However, when I plug in the adapter, A light lights and light B does not work. When it connects, the battery symbol changes for charging symbol, but only for a few seconds. He then returned on the normal battery symbol. When it shows the symbol plugged, it is said "plugged in, not charging."

When I stopped or do it in mode 'sleep' - the operating system is not running, the light and B turn on the adapter with the battery connected. When it lights up, the battery has increased significantly in charge.

Can someone help me please? I can't run for more than 2 hours at a time - and it's after 1 hour charge.

  • How can I configure Thunderbird opens automatically when the computer is turned on

Use Thunderbird 38.0 Beta and try to set the program to start automatically when my computer is turned on without success.

The biggest problem is Thunderbird boot tends to be of the I/o intensive, and therefore Windows startup. Add to the incredible run antivirus software and you have a recipe for much longer boot time of Windows (non-linear). The typical question, most users encounter in this situation is Thunderbird delay and giving warnings of Script is unresponsive.

You're overthinking this problem.  Simply configure tasks planned to inform you of missed tasks .  If the date of scheduled backup has been a weekend or a holiday with the computer off, the next time you turn on the computer you will get a notification that "some tasks did not run."  At this time, manually start the backup job.

  • Backup cancelled in Windows 7 when the computer is turned off.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.

Periodically, the Action Center will display a message saying that I have to do a backup, what I do before turning off the computer. However, when I reboot the computer, I discovered that the backup has been cancelled.

I have searched the web but can't find information about how to make the computer shuts down automatically once the backup completed successfully.  Does anyone have a solution?

The backup has been working in the past?

Have you ever attempted an upgrade to Windows 10 and then back to Windows 7?

For example let's say you have your backup scheduled task to run at midnight...

If your computer is stopped at midnight, the backup does not - because the computer is stopped and the task was "missed" because the computer has been shut down.

If you have the backup task configured on "Run as soon as possible after a regular departure was missed":

When your computer working again missed backup task starts automatically.

If you have your scheduled backup job to run at midnight and your computer is in "Sleep" mode, you have the task configured to wake the computer to run the backup:

This won't work for wake up the computer if it is in "Sleep" mode  It will not work if the computer is in hibernation or if the computer is shut down.  As you can be awakened from sleep, the computer can be awakened from sleep, but you can't be awake if you're dead (stop).  You have to sleep to being awake.  You can be awake if you're dead or hibernation.

The 'problem' with this approach is if the computer wakes up and runs the backup it will continue to function and you don't want that.   You can the computer to wake up, run the backup, and then click Stop (or to go back to sleep) when the backup is complete, and you can configure to occur in two different ways.  If that's how you think you want things to work ask the question in the right way, and describe how you want things to work.

If your computer is in hibernation or stop the scheduled backup will not work until the computer working again and realizes that he has missed a task... then the backup will run - if you have the task set to do as the first example.

Depending on certain factors that have nothing to do with Windows there are ways to make your computer start at a certain time of the hibernation or shutdown (mean 23:55) so it will be quick and then the backup will take place at midnight but will continue to operate your computer unless you include an additional step to stop the system again when the backup is complete.  These things are not exactly automatically built into Windows, but there might be ways to do things the way it works.  If that's how you think you want things to work ask the question in the right way, and describe how you want things to work.

Find how to solve is often a matter of the question or stating the problem clearly there is no guess, no things difficult and none of these proceedings of the wild goose.

What is the problem with the way your backup works now?

What part doesn't work the way you think it should work?

How do you think this should work?

    How it works?

If your computer is turned off (off) do you want that it to wake up itself, run the backup and then stop when the backup he fill?  You can do it if you want, but it takes an extra effort and has a few requirements outside the Windows operating system.

The task of the example above is set to run every Monday at 09:00.

If my computer is running at 09:00 on Monday, the backup will start and run Monday at 09:00.

If my computer doesn't work at 09:00 on Monday, the backup will run as soon as possible after the computer restart us and that's fine with me.

I do not use sleep or Hibernate so I don't have to worry about how get the copy backup to run under these conditions.

After I ran the diagnostics, he said that all tests passed but and if I wanted to continue with more, I said no and we say "Error" "SYSTEM_ERROR this system is not recognized as a Dell PC support. I don't want to run this disk and then was not the driver for it and she will not be able to surf the net or something like that. If anyone has an idea please let me know. Thank you!

    Hi Maddy,

This problem may occur if the Windows startup files are damaged or missing.

If your computer has integrated system recovery options, you can try to perform the Startup Repair and check if it helps.

If it fails, you must have a Windows Vista installation disc and try to parade Startup Repair boot from the disc.

If the problem persists, try the steps in the article to rebuild BCD, boot from the installation disc.

Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

Because you replaced the hard drive, you can also get in contact with the Dell helpdesk for assistance.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • When the computer is turned off to stop is no longer the Vista 64 external USB Drive (SeaGate/Maxtor)

Vista 64 - bit SP2. TB external Maxtor OneTouch 4 drive, worked well, now he wants to run continuously. The USB disk drive does not stop when I go through the steps to Remove material for it, then shut down the computer normally. Or the last step of the computer stops the disk external closing. Now the external hard drive keeps spinning, I don't know about the heads of read/write being parked or not and the white light comes on. This disk is used for the storage of photos; 30 backups; and several databases. I can't wait to have the drive platters turning 24 x 7, and I can't confirm that the read/write heads were parked safely. The error message associated with this question is below in bold. The player is now like the rabbit, continuous running.

Diagnosis of Maxtor for this drive have been executed successfully.

Maxtor check driver indicates that the driver is the most recent.

Device driver Vista says the car is fine. I checked that the drive can read and write. Different backups have been recorded on this disc. I have not tried a restore because of this problem.

Maxtor says that there is not any change in firmware pending for this drive.

Seem like a command to close jammed somehow being sent on disk.

Apparently the Maxtor One Touch USB Device, property, to optimize for quick removal of the external drive, you just completely shut down the computer and the external hard drive finished last (no need to use the hardware logic safely remove). The other option here is "optimized for performance (you must use the material logic safely remove) to turn off the player."

These flags are defined in the Device Manager-online records-online Mass storage Drive L:

Anyway, you try to stop the external hard drive, it will fail with the following error message:

"Windows can't stop your 'Generic Volume' device because he's busy." Try again later. " Or a statement to this effect."

The only software running when the error is Vista 64 bit and the logic of trying to stop the player.

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer. Bill Sullens

    Hi Bill,

    Thanks for the detailed explanation

I you suggest to activate the clean boot and then test to see if this works very well as expected

Step 1: Put the computer in a clean boot

Follow step 1 in the link below,

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.

After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software.

Important: n ' forget not the computer to start normal follow step 7 in the link.
