There is Airfoil and Airport Express, latency/delay time?

I want to be able to direct the output of my iMac "end 2014' 5K (10.11.6) on my stereo system (ParaSound P3/A23) using AirFoil 5 with Airport Extreme > Airport Express."

But the audio output should be "real time." in other words, no delay or latency at all. Both are in the same room!

I use notation software (Sibelius) and need to hear what I write immediately. Unlike streaming where I think there is an acceptable delay (2 seconds?) for the buffering?

Is this possible please?

If it isn't with AirFoil, any advice on how welcome :-)

I want to be able to direct the output of my iMac "end 2014' 5K (10.11.6) on my stereo system (ParaSound P3/A23) using AirFoil 5 with Airport Extreme > Airport Express."

With AirPlay (or Bluetooth), there will always be a form of delay or latency with streaming audio.

In this scenario, an audio stream (on AirPlay) will go first to your iMac to AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express Terminal.

To help understand why there will be delays, let's look at high-level "behind the scenes" about how works AirPlay:

For the AirPort Express (AX), audio input is provided mainly by iTunes. Of course, it can also get feedback from other sources as you know, as of Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil.

For streaming, iTunes or wing does most of the work. What is app reads audio content standard (AAC, MP3, audio books, Internet music streams, etc., it decompresses these file formats and creates what is essentially a raw, uncompressed audio stream.) This stream is compressed using Lossless Compression of Apple (via a QuickTime codec), encrypted with AES 128 bits and then listened (airplay) with an AXE. The stream is buffered for about 2 seconds until the stream is sent. The AX deciphers the flow, decodes and exports in a digital or analog PCM (using a built-in DAC) flows to its audio analog-to-digital versatile optical port.

So, with the above, you can see that the tone does not simply move source to the destination without much more things. You will not be able to entirely eliminate the delay. Sorry!

Just moved into a new House and this is what I install.  I have 7 Port wired into the House.

    • Airport Express
    • netgear switch 8 ports
    • It works pretty well.  All my wired connections work fine.  Wireless is quite good but cove not enough of space in my house.

Think about adding my airport express capsule of time in my office - plugged into one of the hard wired connections.  Who works AND let me wish the WIFI?

    Thank you!

Yes fine, assuming that first test you the Ethernet port in the office by connecting a computer (with WIFI disabled on the computer) using a spare Ethernet cable runs to ensure that the computer can get a good connection in this way.

Put the airport Time Capsule to create a wireless network that uses the exact same wireless network name and password in your existing network. Apple installation "Wizard" automatically configure airport Time Capsule in the correct setting of the Bridge Mode for the device.

  • AirPort Extreme and airport express bought in Europe will work in the United States?

AirPort Extreme and airport express bought in Europe will work in the United States?

Airports will work on 100-240 Volts and 50/60 Hz, so they'll work wise power, about anywhere in the world, assuming that you have a power adapter to change the European plug to a US plug.  A voltage converter is not necessary.

European wireless operated from 1-13 and the United States channels 1-11, so you will need to make sure that you use 1-11 If you want other users to be able to connect to the wireless signal.

  • Printer Samsung CLP 320 and Airport Express

I have a laser printer from Samsung, model CLP 320, and I would use it not connected via USB to my Airport Express, but... no signs of life. How can I solve this problem? Thank you!

It works when plugged into the local computer by USB?

We need to work locally before it can never work on the network... I think you will find that there are no more drivers for it. And you have to press earlier drivers to see if they will work.

  • Time Capsule and Airport Express keeps disconnecting

I have a problem setting up the network at home. I have a Time Capsule that is connected to a router Huawei, the Capsule is set to 'Create a wireless network' and router mode "Off (bridge mode).

It was great to all workers and I get 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz networks.

Today, I bought an Airport Express so I can extend the wifi signal in the new section of the House, I tried to connect it to the time Capsule because 'Extend a wireless network' for a while, it would connect and everything seems fine and then begins the two TC & AE drop and reconnect again and let down once again , the led starts between green and amber shifts from time to time and keep doing that... The WiFi keeps fall signals and reconnect!

I'm not sure what the problem... ! tried to set up two or three times but nothing seems to work. But once I turn off the AE, the TC begins works very well!

Here is how my network configuration must be:

    Wall -> RJ11 >- Huawei -> Ethernet >- TC ... > WiFi >... AE

Note: when I connect the AE to transport CANADA the 1st time, this pattern was shown in Airport utility:

    Internet > TC > AE

but it would be still lower, after the reset of the AE several times and tried to configure several times, now what I see is that both are connected to the Internet icon somehow!

    Any help!

Begin by looking at the location of the AirPort Express to the TC Terminal. It is in the same room, another room or different floor? Another room or floor, if that it the basic construction building materials used in the walls or the ceiling in your home?

What exact models are each of your base stations?

  • Failure of the Airport Extreme and Airport Express

Airport Extreme not to talk to the device POE from the antenna of radio after a thunderstorm (lightning).  Plug the POE ethernet cable directly into Mac works.  Airport Express lights.  Airport Extreme appears, but there is no internet connection.  A port can be fried on the Airport Extreme?

Yes, but unfortunately the port that will blow is that ethernet is plugged.

If it's WAN then you do not have a way to use the airport as a router... only a bridge device.

  • AirPlay and AirPort Express

Bottom line on the front: My AirPort Express (N) (former model with a single ethernet port) is not listed as an AirPlay device to my iMac (2011) and MacBook Pro (2011).

    QUESTION:

The EPA is connected to a stereo system in the same room, but away from my iMac.  I'm trying to use the EPAS to play my iTunes from my iMac to the stereo library.  When I click on the AirPlay icon in the menu, I see the ATV listed, but not the MONKEY.  If I use AirPlay on my drives to iOS, I noticed that everything (EPA and ATV).

    BACKGROUND:

The iMac (as well as all my other Macs) are running El Capitan.  I have FiOS and my iMac is wired (ethernet) to my router from verizon, as is the Time Capsule, which transmits the WiFi to all my devices (all of my devices are newer running iOS 9.3.1) and my MacBook Pro.  I have also two AppleTV connected to the network.  My iMac and MacBook Pro (and iOS devices) see the AppleTV and can AirPlay for them, but only the iOS devices see the AirPort Express Terminal.

RESOLUTION OF THE PROBLEMS SO FAR:

My utility AP sees the MONKEY (and the TC) and I can handle it without problems (name change, settings, etc.).  My iPhone has no problem to see and using the EPA.  I troubleshoot-made the MONKEY by connecting to my network via ethernet (failed difficulty). reset of the MONKEY (failure of difficulty), turned on my iMac (no resolution) wifi, restarted the network and wifi (impossible difficulty), restarted my iMac and Mbps (failure of difficulty).

What can I do else?  Thanks in advance.

I understand in your current network setup you have the cable to the Capsule Time (TC) to the router provided by Verizon. I assume you have the AirPort Express configured to use a wireless connection to the wireless network provided by the TC.

    • What is the brand and model of the router provided by Verizon?
    • Is - this wireless router and it provides a network of Wi - Fi with the TC?
    • The TC and the Verizon router, both configured for a network of itinerant type?
    • The Express is configured to join or extend a wireless network?
    • Are the TC & Express configured as bridges?

  • Extend the reach of the WiFi with airport Time Capsule and Airport Express

I want to extend the range of my WiFi network running on a Time Capsule with an Airport Extreme airport. The Internet, ADSL, signal goes from the cable box in a closet and has two Ethernet cables connecting the box. I installed a simple Ethernet switch and ran inside, with both Internet cables Ethernet Miss and in two rooms in my apartment. I created the Capsule of time like the WiFi router, then the Express in the other room in Bridge Mode to extend the range of the WiFi network and enable AirPlay. This configuration works well for a while, but after a certain time has problems. The Express seems to go back to the creation of the WiFi network on its own and I saw the problem of the conflict addreses DCHP.

What seemed to work correctly using the Express as the "pivot" and I fell straight Internet on it and an Ethernet cable to connect the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode. It's far from ideal for me, however, because I like the Express to be in another room to extend the range of the WiFi network in this part of my apartment and be able to use it for AirPlay.

    Help, please.

If you could let us know what operating system you use on your Mac or PC, we'll give you a configuration suggested for the AirPort Express, which will allow the Express and the Time Capsule to connect to the Ethernet switch and perform correctly.

We assume that the switch and the wiring will function properly in your current configuration, as well as the time Capsule, is that correct?

  • Airport Express had not cooperated and TC?

I got my TC and Airport Express for a few years now without any problems.  Recently, no known changes, I could no longer connect to my wifi/internet. After that everything in that I can get troubleshooting, it's when the TC and AE are physically connected to my my wifi internet network and stop working.  When I have either connected by themselves the internet and wifi works very well.  My setup as follows:

Router & Verizon Fios Internet Service

Airport Express hard wired to the Fios router

Time Capsule hard wired to the Fios router

I have updated firmware on TC and AE today and no luck.  Any ideas on what might be the cause?

    Thank you!

Reset both the TC and Express to plant and restore the configuration.

Make sure that both are in bridge mode... and get IP address valid for the FIOS router.

If you are roaming network then both TC and Express needs to create a wireless network of the same name and same level of security / password.

If you still have questions, post screenshots of the installation.

  • Best config Time Capsule - Airport Express

    Hi all.

My home network at present are as follows:

    -My ISP, with a disabled Wi - Fi router;

-Mac and PC connected via ethernet cables using the router's LAN ports.

-Airport Express (WAN port) connected by ethernet to a LAN port of the router that gives Wi - fi in the House: note that the router and AirPort Express are in different rooms (router: bedroom, AirPort Express: living room)

I want to add a time Capsule to my network, but I want to put in the living room, where the Express is at the moment. I don't have a single cable ethernet connecting the bedroom to the living room because there is not enough space in the walls of two sons.

    What I would do is:

    -Time capsule in the living room, connected via an ethernet cable to the router, generating the signal Wi - Fi;

-AirPort Express connected by ethernet to a LAN port of the router, which extends signal Wi - Fi in the bedroom.

This configuration can work? And how? Should I use the same SSID?

If this is not possible, my only option is to connect the Time Capsule via ethernet to the router and then connect the WAN port on the Express to a port of time Capsule, right? Would not be my best installation in the House, but if it's the only one that works, I'll go with it. If I didn't have the problem of the single cable connecting the two rooms, everything would be super easy. Extending Wi - Fi wireless is not in my case, having this second wired option.

    Any other suggestion is appreciated!

    What I would do is:

    -Time capsule in the living room, connected via an ethernet cable to the router, generating the signal Wi - Fi;

-AirPort Express connected by ethernet to a LAN port of the router, which extends signal Wi - Fi in the bedroom.

This configuration can work? And how? Should I use the same SSID?

Of course, it works very well. Download Time Capsule set up and running using Apple "Installation Wizard", and then reset the Express back to the settings by default and set up using Configuration Apple "Assistant" as well.

The wizard will affect automatically the same SSID and password to the AirPort Express, which uses the Capsule, so by default, you will have what is called a "mobile network". For the configuration, I would recommend that you temporarily connect the Express to the time Capsule using a short Ethernet cable to spare before you run the installer... no matter how long will do.  Connect from a port LAN <>- on the Time Capsule to the "O" in L'Express WAN port. Once the Express is set up, you can move it to the location of the router to establish Ethernet connection here.

If for any reason, you want the AirPort Express to use a different SSID as the time Capsule, you can use AirPort Utility to go back and change the SSID (and the password as well if you want) on the AirPort Express Terminal.

  • Airport express - is no longer the network extension

For six years, took the extreme of the airport, with two Airport express network expanded throughout the House provision.

All are online and update - 7.6.7 is later / current version.

Airport express kitchen spent all-day orange with the warning - "unable to extend the... wireless network." "flashing

I tried to restart - power off/power on, then a reboot via Airport utility.

Then I completely reset the device to factory settings and reconfigured back to expand network through the Airport on Mac utility.

I still have the same problem!

Tried to contact Apple support, telephone support is obviously expired but still difficult to write, call, or buy an extended support, I am stuck in a loop with: "we're sorry. We are unable to respond to your request at this time. Please try again or come back later.15696390-8f63-4da2-816e-f58a820d350d'

Would appreciate some advice from the community? Could avoid resetting the Airport Extreme that I didn't have to go to the length of the reconfiguration of the entire home network and services... !

    Thanks in advance.

Powering two devices of the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express

    Wait a minute

Turn on the AirPort Extreme and run a full minute

Then, turn on the kitchen Express and run a full minute

    Check the network

If no luck, repeat the same procedure as above, but perform a hard reset on the Express before attempting to set up again

If still no luck, the age of the Express can come into play. The average useful life of the Express is about 3-4 years.

Try the 'other' Express in the kitchen. If it works, then you know that your "old" kitchen Express must be replaced.

  • How to connect my Airport Express to Linksys WAG120N?

I recently bought a Linksys WAG120 + 2 Modem Router ADSL. I have a connection broadband ADSL with PPPoE. I want to use WAG120 as modem only & Airport Express as main WI - FI router. Please help how to configure my modem and Airport Express?

Executer run through the installation wizard, select bridge mode.

It should be a simple option available from the installation... but I don't have to say.

    http://downloads.Linksys.com/downloads/Userguide/1224645029534/WAG120N-160Nv2-32 0N-EMEA_UG_C-WEB, 0.pdf

Bridge is explained in the manual... always an interesting place to look for instructions.

The express for PPPOE in the Internet tab of configuration... Note that this is not reliable for many people. Your ISP MUST also support PPPOE.

The network tab is then configured with DHCP and NAT. the rest is pretty much automatic.
