  Yesterday, on August 13, I installed - as guest - a number of updates to Windows Vista on my laptop. It seems that most of them is security updates. There are 16 in total, of which 9 are titled "A security update for Windows Vista". (For reference, they include KB978886, KB982214 and KB2079403).

  Since the completion of this facility, I can't access the Internet using this laptop. I have a wireless router that works very well. Our other two laptops families (using Windows 7 and other Windows XP uses) are the two beautiful connection today by using the wireless router, so I know that the rest of the installation is fine.

  Immediately before installing updates, everything worked very well; Since then, the problem exists. I made no other changes of configuration, facilities or any measure that might have caused this.

  Please tell us how I can remedy this problem. So far my best idea is to uninstall all updates. I really don't want to do it, because I guess they are important!

I've grown using the spare to WAG 160n and installed the adapter connect pc wireless in my spare pc and was pleasantly surprised to have a connection to the internet after uncheck wireless network connection before the windows firewall in the Security Center. It was not a solution before I couldn't even connect to the internet then. The only difference was that the spare wheel was recently formatted and free from any clutter.   1-make sure you have intel network driver I installed your windows it pc. Download (on any other pc and transfer and install in it) and install it in your pc respective windows 8.   You, of course, this done from another machine and using some external media to get it back to the laptop.  You can get * just * wired or wireless network drivers if you wish - you can then use the Internet on the laptop again to get the rest.

• Unable to connect to the Internet via a Linksys Wireless card

  I used a Linksys BEFW11S4 for several years with no problems.  A PC is connected via a network cable and the other (Dell laptop) used a wireless adapter Linksys that plugged into the laptop (model of Linksys WPC11 ver (4).  All my computers using Windows XP with the latest service packs.

  I plugged the Dell laptop to the router via a cable to transfer files faster than the network B.  Then, when I disconnected the cable and reconnected the wireless card, I was unable to use the Wi - Fi connection to connect to the internet.  Wired works very well, is not wireless.

  Windows reports a good wireless connection to the router, but the machine is unable to connect to the internet using the wireless card.  It can connect to the internet when using a network cable, however.

  Pings what either using the Wi - Fi connection failed (expired).

  I used another laptop (a more recent Toshiba with a wireless card built-in) to connect to the router and it works very well with the connectivity wired or wireless.  No problem switching back with this machine.  So, the problem is not with the router or the router configuration.

  I was through the forums and seen a LOT of people seems to have the same problem with these Wireless Linksys routers.

  I tried to use the Easy Link software to configure the machine, but: (1) Linksys updated web site is not valid, and (2) with the www.linksysfix.com/ela site that directs users to the software is also invalid.  Linksys technical support seems to be lacking.

  I went to the usual network setup menus and two laptops seem to be configured the same way, again, we're working wireless and we do not.
