In any case, I'll venture a guess that you have a problem with some Add on Firefox which is an obstacle to the normal behavior of your Firefox. Have you tried to disable all add-ons (just to see) to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, make sure that it's not one of your modules installed, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do this easily and cleanly, start Firefox in safe mode , and then select disable all add-ons. If the problem goes away, you know that it's an add-on.
