Thickness of Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 HDD; Replacement of SSD

Hey guys,.

I own a Z500 IdeaPad with a ST500LM012 HN-M500MBB 500 GB HDD by Samsung.

I would like to do an upgrade with a 1 TB of HDD, I would put in the HARD Drive Caddy (replacement CD/DVD drive).

And I also intend to get an EVO 840 Samsung SSD, I place in the main HARD disk location.

BUT the HARD drive I have now is 9, 5mm thick. And the EVO 840 is 7 mm thick. I have problems in the main HARD disk location?

And are there opportunities that I can fit a 12, 5mm disk in the location of main HARD drive or the HARD drive caddy?

I'm terribly sorry for my English is not my mother tongue.

Thanks in advance.

Answer: Page 71 of the Hardware maintenance manual provides 9.5 mm hdd/sdd can be used. If you have the Player 7.0 mm it can also be accommodated.

Answer: For the housing of the primary hard drive, the cage hdd/ssd mounting is designed to 9.5 mm, so a 7.0 mm or 9.5 mm hdd/ssd will fit. However, a 12.5 mm will not match. The caddy, you see the caddy if it can accommodate a hard drive of 12.5 mm. You may need to check the side of the caddy against the STRANGE to see if it will fit in the odd-NUMBERED slot.

It's a possibility that you have a problem starting. This does not mean that the hard drive is dying, but it's just the operating system could not be started.

  • Expand the partition of drive C on the IdeaPad Z500

    Hi guys,.

I have a laptop of series of Lenovo IdeaPad Z500, that came with a 60 GB drive C for storage/parition.

I'm running out of space and was trying to extend the partition using the tools of Paritioning but I don't get the option to extend the C drive, after creating an unallocated partition (say 10-15 GB). I try so to make my partition of the drive C was around 70-75 GB after the extension of the C drive.

One thing I noticed that I have a score of 300 MB (approx.) just after the C drive. It does not resemble an OKR partition but another thing that I already have a 25 GB of partition OKR.

I'm suspecting that this 300 MB of partition is coming in my way to extend the partition on the C drive, but I'm just guessing. I could be wrong as well.

So, I'm currently stuck here and can't seem to find a way to extend the drive C partition without messing up the configuration OKR.

In addition, I'd appreciate really if someone could tell me how to do a factory default operating system image backup, so I can't run in case my system fails to start at somepoint in time.

When I open the app OKR, it gives me two options: backup & restore system.

I'm also confused here if the backup of the system would make the backup of the complete (with all applications at this stage) operating system? If this is the case, then how can we restore that image in the event of a boot failure?

    Overall, here are my questions:

#How to extend the C drive without affecting the OKR/partition configuration?

#How to restore the backup system image (saved using "Backup system" option OKR App) when the system does not boot? I have to write to a disc or save it to another partition would also work?

#Is there a way to default value of the image image factory so I can use it to install the new OS, in case I have problems with the operating system in the future?

If necessary, I can share the screenshot of the partition table to give you an exact idea how my drive is partitioned.

I would appreciate really no answer on that.

Looking forward to hear from you.

    Kind regards

    Nick

"Therefore, the procedure you mentioned on Page 7 of the post, I should be able to recovery of default of origin of the USB Image and not the 25 GB partition that has already been created for this purpose." Is my understanding correct? »

Comments: The key USB OKR erase everything on your hard drive and recreate the partitions including the operating system. So, it will be as you receive your unit of Lenovo. So don't forget to make a backup of your personal files.

"In case the OKR on laptop breaks because of the re-parititioning of the C drive, I still have the USB for it?

What actually flash as recovery disk, if for some reason, my OS is corrupted and I am unable to start my OKR has messed up too, I would still be able to load/install operating system to factory image on my laptop? »

Comments: In case that spoil you the partitions, you can restore to factory State (actually you can now decide what size of drive C).

  • Help! Need to find a way to replace components of Lenovo Ideapad U300s!

I bought a new 5 GHz Intel Centrino wifi PCI-E card to replace the 2.4 ghz card that came with my Lenovo Ideapad U300s. Unfortunately, I can't access the PCI-E location to Exchange on the chip. I can disassemble the laptop and go to the bottom of it, part but the PCI-E slot are available in the part superior of the laptop (which is the upper part of the PCI - E slot is directly under the keyboard, but I can't just to disassemble the laptop from the bottom).

Someone else had this problem? Looks like it might be impossible to swap the PCI-E card without disassembling the laptop world. Thoughts?

  • Replace Digitizer Touch IdeaPad Z500

Hi all. My laptop screen is currently heavily cracked because of my clumsiness, but I noticed that it's just the glass on the LCD digitizer. My problem is that I can't find a straight line to the top of the spare part to swap on the old cracked glass. Any help finding one would be great. Otherwise, I found the digitizer for a U350 that looks identical dimensions; would it not possible to use instead?

Laptop is IdeaPad Z500 Touch as shown in the subject.

    Sincere friendships at all.

  • Lenovo Ideapad U310 speaker problem

    Hi all

My U310 of Lenovo Ideapad has had problems of speaker,

The headphones work correctly, but the built-in speakers that are Awefully located inbetween as the hinge and the base of the screen do not work.

I first thought it was a problem with the headphone jack that could have cut the circuit internal speaker because of the incorrect removal of the headphone jack, but it is not true because I've noticed that its a problem with the angle I keep tilt of the screen.

On the passage of the screen at any angle above 90 or 100 degrees, the speakers cut in and are activated once its below 80 degrees.

I'm a little worried about the words on it?

    Kind regards

    raisedadead.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE!

    Thank you Alaa,

The problem is now solved, mainly the mobile hinge was obstruction in fact the thread that connects the speakers, according to the service technician. Need to replace the wiring had been damaged by the hinge. A manufacturing problem small on the wire does not correctly connected to the hinge. Thank you

  • Lenovo IdeaPad Y400 evolution Options

    Hello

I plan to buy a Lenovo IdeaPad Y400 in the coming days.

The shop I bought it from has the following characteristics:

    i7-3630QM

    -Windows 8

    -8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM

-1 TB SATA HDD (5400 RPM)

    Modular DVD drive

    -NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 2 GB GDDR5

I noticed that the HARD drive is certainly going to be too slow for me, and I therefore intend to improve, among other things.

I will be performing the following improvements:

    -Windows 8 Pro

    -16 GB of RAM (DDR3 1600 MHz CL11 Crucial 8 GB x 2)

    -M4 CRUCIAL 128 GB MSATA

-WD 2.5 "SATA 7200 RPM 16 MB black 750 GB

My upgrade plan works with the Y400?

    Thank you.

    Hello
The upgrade of the operating system will not be a problem. However, this could ruin a key recovery.
The specification of the ram is the same that mentions critical, then ram won't be a problem either
The msata must fit and hard drive would also not much of a problem,

  • Lenovo Ideapad y510p - memory upgrade

So since Christmas is coming, I thought it would be cool to upgrade my 8 GB RAm 16 GB my question is: what type of card Gerard, I need my lenovo ideapad y510p? and what I have to change my old memory card aswell if im buying a new?

Also is it easy to change the RAM cards?

The worst thing that can happen is that memory does not work with full 1866MTs, but it will certainly work.

The first is a 2.5 "drive, so you should replace your hard drive with it. The other works, but not as a cache. If you do not want to buy a form mSATA SSD, it is best to install the top OS. Kingston is not the best brand when it comes of SSD. Discover Crucial, Samsung, Plextor. It would be a good idea to read some current reviews and comparisons of the SSD. always keep the highest priority on reliability.
