ThinkPad L520 CD/DVD drive recognize or write to disks

Hi all. I hope that as a beginner I'm posting in the right place and not on a topic already discussed. I had my L520 for over a year now and had not already need to burn stuff on the disc, so I don't know if my problem is new or old.

Essentially the Player recognizes the disks when they are inserted and correctly displays the files already on the disc, but it gives space null regardless of the disc or the size of the existing file. In addition, if a blank disc is inserted it says that the disc cannot be read and try to put shaped. Pre-formatted standard discs, I use. Help, please.

Written and finalised discs do not seem to have any capacity left, it's the way the system of files on the CD.

Regarding the empty disks, they are just empty, not preformatted. It seems to me that you need an application of disc burning like Ashampoo Burning Studio free or CDBurnerXP, which are free for personal use...

If it worked about two weeks ago, you could try a restore point to return the parameters of your system they had previously, by using the system restore. It is in the startmenu, all programs, system, SYSTEM RESTORE tools. Choose a point of older and not the most recent. Alternatively, right - click the icon for your drive and make sure that the recording tab is there, and that registration is enabled on the computer. Its possible that the cd/dvd drive does not, it can happen. Try a lens of dvd/cd cleaner to see if that helps.

Make sure you have the latest drivers and software installed for the reader, if they are damaged, they may have to reinstall.

Im having a problem with my dvd. I tried to burn my movies, music and my files on a dvdr or cdr, I tried DVD - RW and CD - RW but I do it every time gives error "d:\ is not accessible incorrect function". but when I try to watch a dvd movie or use my music cd, it does not work. Hello

Satellite M40X sounds new enough to have CDs of feature writing. Seems to me a HW question but you can try:
1 - Clean the blank CD with a cloth dry
2 - blow to the goal and do not forget that there is no dust
    3. you can uninstall the driver from
    -> Panel-> system-> hardware-> Device Manager-> DVD - RAM-> (right click) properties--> driver uninstall-> restarting your laptop.

  • HP Pavilion p7-1234: functional CD/DVD drive will not boot Clonezilla disk recognize

Have three HP p7 in small desktop running Win 7 64 bit. (Avast free version)

None of them will recognize a bootable Clonezilla ISO or Zip, whether on CD/DVD or USB.

    Measures already taken:

BIOS set to boot from CD/DVD

In turn the BIOS configured to boot from USB

Have used any compatible version of Clonezilla downloads based on my operating system and the processor, including the generic i686 ISO and Zip. (and makes bootable USB drive)

CD/DVD and USB function perfectly well otherwise. Able to access the other disks and USB media with no problems.

Also able to see the Clonezilla ISO when I look at the CD/DVD drive.

It starts simply what whether Clonezilla.

If someone has encountered this, I would like to share your experience.

    Thanks for your time.

    One rookie mistake.

    Problem:

Bad, I carved the Clonezilla ISO to CD/DVD disc.

    Solution:

    1. download the ISO Clonezilla appropriate for your computer, on your desktop.
    2. place the disc in the CD/DVD drive
    3. "right click" on the Clonezilla ISO on your desktop.
4 Select "Burn Image" and follow the default values.

Now you have a proper boot Clonezilla disk.

    Next:

    1. make sure the BIOS is set to CD/DVD is bootable.
    2. place Clonezilla disc in open the tray of the CD/DVD drive.
    3. restart the computer and close the CD/DVD tray
4 put your finger on "F9" key and now wherever the blue HP screen appears, press "F9".
    5. boot Menu loads.
    6. move arrows down to the first line indented under "ATAPI CD/DVD DRIVE...
SATA2 or SATA3 will be according to your system.
    7 hit ENTER.

    Clonezilla immediately, boots and loads.

I hope it works for you.

Use Nero! It of much better! I also use it and I m very happy.

I noticed that Roxio modifies the registry key, and so sometimes the CD/DVD drive cannot read or burn some mediums.

    If necessary:

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  • To replace the DVD drive with the second HARD disk on the pavilion DM4-2000

    Hello

I would like to remove my laptop DVD drive and replace it with an SSD. It seems that the DVD player does not use the standard format of pins SATA for hard drives, rather than use a slightly smaller connection. Is it possible to connect a laptop SATA drive this in any case and if so, how?

    Any help appreciated,

You need a car adapter. Your laptop uses 12.7 mm optical readers and you need this card:

    Here is the Service Manual:

See Page 45 for replacement instructions.

You place the additional hard drive inside the adapter, then swap the front to make look it good.

The DVD player may require cleaning with a cheap kit that you can buy at any place that sells computers.  I had good experience with my readers DVD LG, not to mention my LG TV that I love.  One thing you can do when you are trying to burn DVDs would be to reduce the burn speed.  I usually use the software Roxio or Nero to burn DVDs - they have always worked well for me.

Relative to the backup, use one of these big drives for backup and you get a good 3rd party backup program like the free Easeus todo backup free of charge that you can download from

http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm .  Better yet, you get an external hard drive.  You can buy these days 1.5 to ones for about $90.

    Good luck.

  • CD/DVD drive do not write!

I have a HP Compaq 6735 s with a TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS - L633L ATA Device and during the last few weeks, he was not able to burn discs. It seemed to happen from one day to the next, I tried various different software and have concluded that it is certainly something to do with the player.

Each software States that the CD/DVD has burned successfully however, the CD/DVD cannot be read by anything, not even the computer, he wrote of.

Someone at - it solutions? I've looked everywhere and can't find any similar problem?

    Hello

Download ImgBurn , and use this to see if you can burn a disc successfully.  If this does not help, try to run the process below.

First, try the automated Microsoft fixit on the links below.

    Windows 7

    Vista

Check if the drive will now burn.

If the drive does not, in the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.  Right-click on the first channel and select uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When uninstalled repeat the process for each channel.  Also, if an ATA controller is listed, right click and uninstall it, once again is not removing the drivers if requested. Then, open the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives.  Right-click on the drive and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.

Restart the computer and let Windows reinstall devices.  Check the disc again.

If it still does not work, re-run the fixit automated Microsoft at the link below.

    Windows 7

    Vista

Then, in the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the CD/DVD-ROM drives.  Right-click on the drive and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When the device has been uninstalled click the icon 'Search for hardware changes' (usually just below help in the toolbar).  Let windows reinstall the disc and see if it now Burns ok.

    Hello

Its not unusual for the same problem have an impact on both drives, in fact its very common.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.
