ThinkPad R61 Fn keys do not work in Windows 7

Greetings!

I have the following problem - after the upgrade to Windows 7, I only work volume controls, but not the combinations of keys Fn + Fx.

The details are:

(1) Fn key physically works - he worked on Vista

(2) in order to have the volume control work that I had to install the redistributable Visual Studio 2010

(3) my version of BIOS is 2.24, tried downgrading to 2.23 as well

(4) System Interface Driver is installed along with Hotkey support

(5) power Manager is installed

(6) older drivers I tried Vista

Please help - the question really is dirving nuts me!

I'm sorry for the inconvenience - the keyboard was just simply not properly attached (I replaced the motherboard recently). I still wonder how he could be so just that one key does not work, but in any case the problem is now resolved.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Fn keys does not work with Windows Vista

    Hello

I own a Satellite Pro A200-PSAE7E and a license to retail for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition (with SP1) is installed.

Before installing Vista, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available on the Toshiba site ([http://it.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/vista_drivers.jsp?service=IT]).
BIOS version is now 2.20 - WIN32 contained in this file: [http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20080404121735.zip]

After the installation of the operating system, I installed "Value package" ([http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/vap-20080109135106.zip]) that contains the "utility Flash Cards". In my understanding, the installation of the "value added package" should allow the use of Fn keys.
This doesn't seem to be true or not true.

    Here's what's happening.

-Prior to installation of the 'value-added' package, all Fn keys did not work.
-After installation of the "value added package", if the process of TCrdMain.exe is running, all Fn keys do not work.
-If I remove the startup TCrdMain.exe and I restart the PC, only a few keys Fn function (Fn + ESC, Fn + F1).

There is no way (or I have not found a way) for all keys Fn works.

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance,

    mme000

I am not sure, but it may be because of the SP1. I installed Vista Ultimate on A200 and stuff all listed (drivers, tools and utilities) from Toshiba support page.

Contains your Vista DVD facilities SP1 or you install on your own? If you install Vista Ultimate Edition (without SP1) and all the stuff on the Toshiba support site order Instructions of facilities.

  • Re: Satellite P200D - functions FN keys do not work on Windows 7

Recently, I installed Windows7 ultimate 32 bit for my pc, but the function FN key does not work. I installed the VAD latest version 1.4 (for windows 7) as also the utility of the memory flash card (for vista than windows 7 does not have) as suggested in other threads, but the button still refuses to cooperate with me. The flash memory card are current running ok but only with the mouse. to all my startup programs are running ok and I also try Msconfig restart the map flash several times.

    What other driver must try?

Once my configuration is complete (hopefully soon) what can I do I have recovery disk, I don't have to spend all those torture?

In my opinion, you've tried everything to make it work. What happens if you try to install Vap for Vista (not for win 7, as you have it installed)?

  • Satellite A210-S14 - FN keys does not work on Windows XP

    Hello

Please excuse my bad English-school ;)

I bought a laptop A210-S14 and it downgraded to Windows XP, because I own the components that are not running on Windows Vista.

The XP installation went very well, I found drivers as appropriate for each component, except the fn keys.
I couldn't get the keys (Fn + F1 - 12) work, regardless of the drivers, I tried to use.

Cannot install the 'Hotkey utility' I can download it on the Toshiba site because it says, this clever support my Windows Version.

The search for a solution, I read a lot of google pages and in many forums, and to sum up I realized that I need driver-various parts.
Regarding most of the pages, I need the 'Hotkey Utility","driver Toshiba component","Toshiba controls"and the"fn-esse ".

The problem is, I can't find any shortcut keyboard-utility or fn-esse, who works with my laptop.
Each version of fn-esse, I tried, could not be installed because the version of the bios could not be read.

    The graduations of keys work.

Could someone please post some links here, where I can download a version of the fn-esse apropriate?

Does anyone have a solution for me, how can I solve my problem? Do I need to install the drivers in a special sequence?
What drivers do I need definiteley?

    Thank you much in advance.

    Greetings,
    Tobias F. | StarGeneral

If I remember well a lot of people here have noticed the same thing. Here in Europe, Toshiba has solved this problem with BIOS update for Windows XP Home edition. Then visit Toshiba support and download page and check if WXP BIOS update is available.

If your laptop is supported WXP this BIOS update should be available.

  • Satellite A200-1FL (PSAE6) - FN key does not work on Windows 7

I have just installed Windows 7 on my laptop and I can't do touchpad Fn key works. I tried to install the drivers from the Synaptics touchpad, but it does not work.

    What can I do?

    Hi navarone_1,

This means that the work of FN keys and you can t use the pad touch, right?

Well, in this case I think that the touchpad is disabled with FN + F9 key combination and therefore, you must install the Toshiba tools to activate the FN keys.

You can find all the drivers and tools for your laptop on the Toshiba official European page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

You need Support Flash Cards of value added and utility package. These two tools should be released for Windows 7. For Windows 7 32 bit, you can find package of added value but Flash cards Support utility you must download it from another laptop, e. g. Satellite P500. It should work on your model too.

Last but not less than first installation package of added value and Flash then cards support utility.

  • Qosmio F50 - FN keys does not work after Windows 7 upgrade

    Hello

After installing Windows 7 my 'FN' key doesn't work anymore. The big problem is the upgrade to Windows 7, I turned off my touchpad using "FN + F9". Now that my FN key work and I cannot turn my touchpad.

Is there a way to reverse without using the "fn"? And is there a way I can fix my FN key? Accessible from start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > accessibility does not work. Is somehow connected? What can I do?

Feedback and assistance is greatly appreciated.

If you must install the package of added value and utility to Support Flash Cards, but you must choose a version that is available for Windows 7.

  • Re: Satellite A350-ST3601 - Fn keys do not work on Windows 7

    Hello

I installed Windows 7 x 64 on my Satellite A350-ST3601 laptop and I have a problem with the Fn keys... Simply, they do no more work...
I updated the BIOS via ACPI BIOS Flash version 2.20 to the latest version of the BIOS, installed all the drivers from Toshiba Support page material and installed the Toshiba value added package (PVAT) for Windows 7/Vista (64) v1.2.27_64 and nothing.
I uninstalled PVAT and installed the new and nothing. I even tried with the Driver Support and registry Patch utility for devices and printers, and nothing yet.
I even tried to "Restart flash card" solution with no result.

Can someone help me please? I'm hopeless on this issue because I use the Fn keys a lot?
    THX

    Hello

After the installation of value-added package, you also install the Flash Cards Support utility. Do a search on the Toshiba page for this tool.
You can also search other models of laptops, but he must be released for Windows 7, I know that the old version for Vista will not work.

    Check this box!

  • Satellite L500 - 1 EV - Some FN keys do not work on Windows 7

    Hello

I bought a new laptop Toshiba Satellite L500 - 1 EV. Now I'm with Windows 7 32 bit OS, and I noticed that some of the shortcuts - espacially the "fn + F8" - to turn on and turn off the adapter wireless and "Fn + F9" allowing you to alternate between the mouse and touchpad of entry do not work. After I press FN + F8 wireless adapter still works and the light always. After pressing Fn + F9 system keeps the receiver input mouse and touchpad.

    Am I missing some driver?
    Thank you!

    Hello

Have you installed Windows 7 yourself or was it is preinstalled on your laptop?

AFAIK for the FN keys you need Toshiba Value added Package, and Flash Cards Support utility. In your case, I will try to reinstall the two of them, VAP first and then Flash cards support utility.

Consult the Toshiba site, where you can find these two tools! :)

  • HP Pavilion 1318ax g6 Fn key does not work on Windows 7

    Hello

I downloaded all the drivers for HP Pavilion g6 here 1318ax

However my Fn does not work IE all the keys of the action like Volume, brightness, which can be accessed by (Fn + F3) etc do not work. Please help me out here.

    Thank you.

Hello EternalChaos.  I appreciate that you try to get your function keys to work.

The function keys work?  What happens if you just press F3?  You get the F3 or the function key action?

If you press the F3 key and get the action of function, you must disable the key Action Mode in the BIOS.  Try the following in this case.

    1. Restart the computer and press F10, until the BIOS screen load.
    2. Go to the section 'System Configuration '.
    3. You should 'Action key Mode.' Make sure it is off.
    4. Go to the section "Exit" and save the changes.
    5. Restart the computer and check that this solves the problem.

If this does not resolve the problem, I want to check that you have received all installed software.  You must not only drivers, but the specific elements of the software for these buttons to work properly.  They have the software frame HP and HP Quick Launch applications installed?  I also propose to install HP Support Assistant.  This application will scan your laptop and make sure that no software or drivers are missing.

I would like to know if any of these solutions work for you EternalChaos; I will keep an eye out for your answer.  If you think this message is useful be sure to click on the White Star under my name to give me congratulations!

    Have a great day.
