Searching this forum I found a psot as follows BUT Jose for a laptop T-200.
I suggest forget you turbo memory. Intel stop talking about and they have not released a driver since 2009. It is 2 years before service pack 1 has been released. I made some tests and I could never measure an improvement with an installed card. As far as I am concerned, it of just something to break and interfere with other components.,.

Where can I buy a replacement of the Thinkpad T61 fan?
Where can I buy a replacement of the Thinkpad T61 fan? I looked everywhere in the Lenovo site, and I can only find the referenced part number, not a place to buy it.
When I opened my Thinkpad, the fan, he said:
Lenovo-P/N 42W2461
FRU P/N 42W2460
Everyone here has already tried other merchants successfully (eBay, etc.)?
(I am out of warranty and the fan is noisy when it is hot, unlike when it was new, and I sometimes "Fan Error" at startup in the BIOS).
Parts of IBM in the United States sells these fan parts, many fans on ebay are refurbished or from broken machinery (the fan should work fine).
I think that IBM sells the fan for about 50 to 80 USD, including delivery by mail.

ThinkPad T61 random BSOD with VISTA SP1
Hello everyone, I'm new to this Forum.
The reason why I joined the community is because I'm going to random BSOD followed to stop and restart my T61. It started some time earlier this year when I installed Vista updates with the system update utility. It seems Vista Business SP1 related somehow. Well, I could not solve the problem, I did a clean install of Vista Business SP1 with all up-to-date drivers and software from the Lenovo Site. The problem still remains, and I couldn't find a solution.
I installed the Windows Debugger tool und just managed to use the tool and get a report (I am inexperienced). Here are the specifications of my ThinkPad and a snapshot of the debug report.
Any hint is appreciated with the best regards from Switzerland ;-)

In the meantime, I found the solution to my problem. My ThinkPad T61 is anchored to a mini advanced docking station. When you use four USB ports, the system blocks at random resulting in a BSOD. Since I use only 3 USB ports no BSOD more.
Take care and have fun with your ThinkPad

ThinkPad T61 supervisor password
Hello community,
It's a ThinkPad T61 6457-BK3.
I bought it a month ago and there is a supervisor password in the BIOS. I don't know the password and the company where I bought it from - does not know the password. How can I reset the password? I read many things in the internet about the opening of the motherboard, looking for a smart... and so on — but I don't want to lose the warranty. Is it possible to send it to Lenovo? And how it would be to reset the supervisor password?
Thank you very much.
Kind regards
You can't reset the password without knowing the password first. Sorry we can't tell you the procedure even though we know it (which we don't have), as it is against the rule of the forum.
If you want that Lenovo to reset the password, they just replace the motherboard, which will cost more than your laptop is useful.

Modernization of the Lenovo Thinkpad T61 i3 CPU.
I have a Thinkpad T61 and I wonder what kind of processor i3 current is compatible with my laptop?
I need a processor that can handle older games like Morrowind with ease, I currently have a pathetic Centrino processor.
Goodegg says:
I want a current i3.Well, it's just not going to happen.
The fastest CPU, only one of these cards will have X 9000, which is a 2.8 GHz Core 2 Extreme. It is also $ 200-250 depending on his luck.
If you need a current CPU, you will need to get a more recent/current machine.

ThinkPad t61 brightness resets
I just bought a refurbished thinkpad t61 and he took advantage of that day. Only problem is every time I have the brightness, that it will always return to the definition above whenever it restarts. I tried adjusting brightness in the power plan settings and save but it will always return to the default each time I have to start again. Is anyway to fix this?
Hey there pszet0,
I found another thread with a question similar to yours. Its solution has been updated to four specific drivers, and the machine started to save the power plan settings. Here's a link to the page of the pilot and a list of driver does it reference. As always, make sure you back up before you start on this path. It can be the path that will lead you to find resolution.
Start here because I think it will be more likely involved:
Power management driver
Your display driver there
And then these:
HotKey features integration pilot

ThinkPad T61 T61p radiator upgrade.
Hello
My Thinkpad gets uncomfortably hot in programs such as Photoshop, Dream Weaver and some games. Update the old heatsink to a T61p radiator would help to reduce the time. I clean the portable regularly (every 2 months or more) and run TPFanControl but he gets up to 80 c time.
Data sheet: Core 2 duo T8300 2.4 Ghz / RAM 4Gbs and the legendary Nvidia nvs 140 m chip.
Thank you.

Renewing the thermal paste would be my first recommendation. And it's a case of AS5 ;-)

Larger and faster hard drive model T61 6458-CTO
6i would like to know which is the hard drive bigger and faster that I can buy for a T61 (6458-CTO).
It has a 80 GB hard drive, 5400 RPM and SATA interface (1.5 Gb/s).
Can I buy a SATA II (3 Gb/s, 500 GB and 7200 RPM) for this computer?
Thank you.
Jon
> Buy a SATA II (3 Gb/s and 500 GB 7200 RPM) for this computer?
Yes, you can, however, due to limitations in the T61, there only a SATA I interface. This isn't really a problem because the drive itself is unable to transfer data at the maximum speed of the interface.

Hello.
I heard that the Thinkpad T61 will soon be obsolete ot. Is this true? If this is the case, what models to replace them. Also why can't I shop online on the website of Singapore/Malaysia?
The first question. Yes
T61 will be replaced by T400/T500
T61p will be replaced by the W series.

No Protection Active Windows 7 x 86 or Vista x 86 Thinkpad T61 model 8897-02U software?
There is no software Protection active for Vista/Windows7 on the Thinkpad T61 model 8897-02U on the support Web site? Not support Active Protection?
The version of the APS for T61 is the same as X 250, T450, etc.. I don't know why APS is not marked as a model of support for T61.; We will check into it. For now you can get APS from the driver download page for 250 X or another model.
What is Jerrycq said in another thread that APS has been removed from the system update for Win8/Win8.1. It is a completely different matter, having to do with system update internal and not APS.

Want to upgrade ram for my Lenovo ThinkPad T61 6463 - B45
Hello
I want to upgrad ram for my Lenovo ThinkPad T61 6463 - B45 actually 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) instead of 8 GB (2 x 4 GB). I found some in my next computer store 4096 MB-DATA Value SO - DDR2 800 MHz. But I don't know if the PC2-6400 (800 MHz) would work in my notebook.
Can someone confirm if these would work? Issue in this page , I found the following information:
Yavuz, welcome to the forum,
Looking at the specs you should be good to go, but have not personally tested, I can't be 100% sure.
What really works, as I installed it in my T61p is Corsair VS4GSDS800D2 G.
