  • ThinkPad z60m hard drive upgrade

Hi all I have a thinkpad z60m I bought for a price very low. When I bought the laptop, it has been configured with processor 1.73GHz PM, 256 MB RAM and 40 GB HDD. I've already updated the memory to 2 GB to speed it up and it works well but I am now running out of space, and I want to switch the hard disk. Does anyone know the maximum capacity that can handle this laptop? It says in the manual that it can handle a maximum of 100 GB hard drive. But I came across this site Web offers a 160 GB HDD at 7200 RPM which is supposed to work with z60t z60m and t60 thinkpad. I cannot more than 100 GB for the main hard drive? Anyone here has tried to install a larger than 100 GB HDD main to a z60m? It work? I know I have a lot of questions, but I hope that someone could help me. Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forum!

You can install a HARD drive larger than 100 GB to your machine, no problem. The reason why you see a limit of 100 GB in release documents is the fact that it was available at the time the largest HARD drive...

    I hope this helps.

  • Re: 2529-FKG R60 W7 facility

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/IdeaPad-S-series-netbooks/possible-problems-with-different-type-of-beeps...

I installed W7 on this R60 on two different HARD drives. I get beep type 5, reinstall the operating system. It occurs when the R60 is re set, that is to say during the installation process. I can start it "manually", then it starts very well. Never seen that before.

    Any clue?

  • Windows is slow

Hello. Obviously, I have a thinkpad z60m 2529-HFG model. I have created a dual boot with Windows XP Professional and openSuse 11. I don't know why, but windows is very very slow. Or better, the beginning is normal until I have enter my password. Then, everything becomes slow. I need at least a minute to launch Firefox, and I need some time to open the control center. I defragmented the Windows partition and installed a new anti virus (Norton). No results. I don't have virus, and after defragmentation, it is as usual: slow. Why? What could I do? It is true that I have only 512 MB of ram, but previously it was not so.

    Thank you. Bye,.

    Davide

You need to upgrade RAM and get rid of Norton... hop!

My $0.02 and I hope that find you them useful...

  • memory for z60m

Hello. Sorry for the question. I have an Ibm thinkpad z60m with a ram of 512 MB. I know I can improve up to 2 Ghz. What type of memory I need to get? And where can I buy it? I would like a 2 Ghz module.

    Thank you. Bye,.

    Davide

    P.S. I live in Italy.

My initial assumption was correct, do not hesitate to go ahead with up to 2 GB PC4200 or 5300 laptop RAM.

    Configuration of soft, incidentally.

    I hope this helps.

  • Operation of fingerprints

I seems that my security system does not work with fingerprint recognition and I get this message "cannot connect to the Passport. An internal error has occurred (bl: bio-bl-mtsi-tbx-not-impl). »

The fingerprint works when connecting the BIOS, but not on turning the tension or auto pasword manager. I deleted and reloaded the software of fingerprint and used the backup but got no change at all. Any ideas on how I can find fingerprints noral windows mode setting.

The system is Z60m 2529 3 FKG 8388 running on Windows XP profetional Bios 1.24 with embedded controller version 1.18.

    Any ideas?

Have you done the following steps?

    (1) uninstall the RPF of Add/Remove Programs (Control Panel)

    (2) restart the BIOS (F1 key at startup) access unit

3 BIOS) go to the security-> fingerprint-> wipe fingerprints data

    (4) F10 to save and exit

    (5) reinstall RPF using ThinkVantage System Update (or search this document on the site of Lenovo-> RAHUL-66948)

Let me know if it helps

    Kind regards

My Windows experience index is 1.0, so I tried to lift it up, but each time, I get the following error message:- "the current video card can support Aero with a compatible with Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) driver. Contact the manufacturer of your computer or your video card for one Driver WDDM compatible.

I went through the Lenovo Web site for two days, without a clue to this problem.

Please note that I've upgraded to Windows 7 Professional to Windows XP Professional.

I will be grateful if you help me to solve this problem.

  • Z60m / T60 HDD upgrade

    Hi all

I offered to upgrade the HARD drive in a T60 opportunity bought by a friend of their son, on my advice. The HARD drive is 40 GB and his sister has a portable HDD 500 GB on her new computer, imagine how it feels!

I've been putting it for a while because of the cost of readers of IBM, which I suppose should be used. Reading that it is possible to upgrade using purchased Besides hard drives and seeing that the cost is less than half of those of IBM, I decided that I might as well update my Z60m at the same time.

In any case, the point is that I'm concerned about compatibility issues. I saw, in a thread, a link to the firmware of the HARD drive updates where there was a list of supported hard disks and found two Seagate drives in the list that I can buy relatively cheaply. Before seeing the list I was going to buy some Toshiba drives that were a bit cheaper than the Seagate ones. I am to be more careful or my way of thinking just that it's a 'safer' bet to buy Seagate drives in the hope that they will at least work out of the box, even if the firmware updates cannot. Are Seagate drives as good as any other compatible? I see that people go to the Hitachi drives but they are more expensive still.

    Sorry for the hike.

    Thanks for your help.

As long as it's a laptop SATA drive, 9.5mm/2.5' format, it will work in your ThinkPad (s) without any problem whatsoever.

    Enjoy the upgrade.

  • Cannot move the Favicons in toolbar - it just won't let me, even if it works on my identical thinkpad. On this laptop, it turns into a new tab.

Although it works on my other thinkpad (which is identical to this one), yet when I try to drag website Favicons to the General on this thinkpad toolbar to use as a shortcut, a circle with a diagonal line displays, and when I try to drop the toolbar, a new tab opens to the top, instead of display the mozilla.org Favicon.

So why it works on my other identical thinkpad, but not on this one? I bought two of them used. Obviously, certain factors on this thinkpad is not allowing it. Note that this laptop has AVG like antivirus, instead of MSE and perhaps also other differences of software.

I think that it only works if you drop the site in the bookmarks toolbar. Despite its name, the bookmarks toolbar can be on its own line or can drag them to another bar. Maybe it's that it has been customized differently on the two installations of Firefox.

  • My Lenovo ThinkPad(red scroll) scroll function does not work in the new Firefox 4. It worked very well at point 3.6. Can you please fix this because it is a very important feature.

(Middle button) scroll feature does not work on the new firefox 4. For this reason, so I need to move the scroll bar to move the page. It's very irritating problem, if you are a guy who uses the middle button to scroll. Can you if you please fix this...

    Thank you!!!

I've updated to Firefox 4.01 today and the Center knob on my Lenovo T400 does more. I downloaded the updated Ultranav utility and the Ultranav driver for my T400 by http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-72858.html , then uninstalled the 'Thinkpad Ultranav Driver' to add/remove programs, rebooted and then installed the update utility and driver (another reboot) and now it works perfectly.

So happy to get it working again.
