  • Looking for products with specific needs: USB dongle to create WiFi + send traffic through SOCKS proxy

    Hello

I need a product for a specific use, and it is not easy to obtain the necessary information with the data I found on the web. So I was wondering if anyone knows a Linksys product that fits the need.

I am looking for a USB dongle to connect to a Windows PC. This USB dongle should * create * a WiFi network and an iPhone would connect to the WiFi LAN. The PC would then play the role of a gateway, that she would share his Internet Ethernet RJ45 connection with the devices connected to created WiFi. In addition, all the WiFi LAN traffic should be sent to a given SOCKS (v5) Proxy (which is actually on localhost).

You know a product + utility that meets these requirements?

    Thank you in advance!
    Kind regards

This is not actually a function of the adapter wireless and more attached to the PC operating system.

If you are running a Windows PC is easy. Given that existed in Windows XP Internet connection sharing. It simply comes down to enable Internet sharing on the LAN adapter and assigning the host adapter wireless network connection. Then, you will need to add a wireless Ad - Hoc for your devices in the customer network to connect too. I guess that the wireless adapter must support wireless Ad - Hoc networks, but I think they all do.

Linux\Mac have similar support sharing Internet.

There is also software available that you can install to create a hotspot Wi - Fi with your PC.

  • USB Dongle Bridge with wireless static IP XP

My computer is connected to the wireless router that is connected to the switch through which I am to access other computers.

Whenever I connect my USB dongle to access internet, my offline wireless network but I am still connected to the router!
Here, I'm limited to use only one network at a time.
I tried the network bridge, always even (no advanced layout need to be changed?)
Tried to ICS (ICS should not use this feature in an existing network with domain controllers Windows 2000 Server, the servers DNS, gateways, DHCP servers, or systems configured for static IP addresses)

I'd be very happy that can help solve this problem.

Your problem is probably the "metric".  I'm doing this from memory because I don't have a machine XP here, so maybe it's a little different but...
Go to your network control panel.  There should be an entry for your USB dongle and the other for the wireless.  For each of them, right-click on it and select "Properties".  In the window, scroll down if necessary, and then double-click TCP/IP.  In the next window, click on "Advanced".  There should be a box here that is usually checked that says "Automatic metric.  What you need to do is to uncheck this check box and enter a number in the field "the Interface metric.  Put a different number for your USB dongle interface and your wireless (for example, 5 and 10) interface.  The smaller of the two numbers will be the adapter that will be used for the internet... so if I read your post correctly, the USB dongle must be the lowest numbers.

As your USB dongle is probably the slowest connection, it probably by default a metric higher and therefore is not selected when you use the default settings.

  • Configure Passthrough in ESXi host for USB Dongle?

    Hello

You have to connect a USB dongle to a virtual machine specific.

On the web, we find that we can plug the dongle to 5 ESXi host.  For this particular virtual machine, add USB controller and then add the USB device.

We wonder if we were to "Configure Passthrough" in "Advanced settings" of the ESXi host?  If so, is there an easy way for us to identify the particular USB port used?

    Thank you

    Hello

If you want to only connect the USB dongle to a virtual machine, add a USB controller to the virtual computer is simpler. Once you have added a USB controller, turn on the virtual machine. Plug the dongle on the ESXi host. Open the page change the setting of this virtual machine, add a USB device and you should be able to find the dongle in the list. Save the settings and your virtual machine can now access the dongle.

  • Is this a safe combination for USB-6212

USB-6212 out by SC-2345. I want to drive relay on a Board of SC-2062. The plan is to run a (probably personal) cable on the SC-2345 and wire digital output straight through inside 2345.

    (1) the USB-6212 will lead the relay without overloading?

    (2) 5 v of the SC-2062 requests are too large for the USB-6212 right? I have to use the power of the SC-2345?

I read the specifications of all these tips, but do not know if I read them correctly. I don't want to do for $$$ scrambled eggs.

    Hello

My only hesitation was with custom cable. It is possible that you can introduce enough impedance via the cable that you could not pilot the relay. However, the 6212 specifications can manage the relay, so as long as you build a cable that does not have a lot of impedance at the wheel, it should work properly. I hope this helps!

  • How to enable the continuation of the Standby Option for a USB mouse: I do not see the "allow this device to wake the system from standby mode' check box__

I use Windows XP Home Edition and I am fully up to date with the latest version of the software.

I would like to activate my mouse USB power out "sleep mode" on my computer.  I found the help topic that describes how to do this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/280108 how to enable the continuation of the Standby Option for a USB mouse

However, when I follow these steps, I don't see the 'allow this device to wake the system from standby mode ' check box on any of the windows as described in the documentation for Ms.
I use a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 (IntelliPoint) USB

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    This gives a test:

    1. click on START
    2. click on 'run '.
3 type "notepad" (without the quotes) and press enter
    4. copy and paste this into Notepad:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb]
    "USBBIOSHACKS" = DWORD: 00000000
    "USBBIOSx" = DWORD: 00000000

    5. click on file > save as
    6. change the dropdown to "all files".
7 type usb.reg as the file name and save the file somewhere easy to access
8 go find the file and double click it. Confirm that you want to add it to the registry
9 restart the computer and see if you can wake the system from standby mode

  • Looking for a USB Compact Flash I, II compatible with 7 Player window Professional 64-bit

I'm looking for a USB Compact Flash I, II compatible Windows 7 Professional 64-bit player.  No idea where I could find one?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any USB device according to the current specifications will work.

Sometimes there are bugs minor firmware. Much more often, there is something wrong with the host system USB drivers.

You will find little or nothing about the Compatibility Center because most of these devices are generic devices with just a practical applied brand name. Makes them is unknown, unless you are in the trade and the manufacturer may change anyway if the owner of the brand chooses a different provider.

    Hello

I'm faced with the same question. I went to settings of your laptop and ran the recovery, but it did not help. I went to Device Manager and I noticed an error: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor has failed. Tried to fix that with an alternative of Microsoft Community (http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/?wa=wsignin1.0), but the issue could not be resolved. I don't know if they are related, but I think so. Spent so much time trying to solve this problem and would be really grateful for the help. Have had the computer for less than 3 weeks...

    Ewa

    Hi Ewa,

    Thanks for the reply.

I suggest you to update the drivers for the chipset of your computer and check if it helps. You can use the link below. Select the appropriate component and the operating system from the list. The link given below is for Lenovo 11 2 yoga, if you have any other device then please provide us with the exact model number or select the correct model number.

As you mentioned that the other two USB ports work correctly, according to me is not a problem with the driver. It seems to be a hardware problem.

    Let us know the status.

  • support for USB dongle

It is my understanding that ESX 4 supports the usb of the virtual machine. I also understand that VMotion does not support virtual machines that use the usb dongles. I plugged a USB stick in the host ESX 4, but I don't see where I need to configure the virtual machine to use the usb dongle. Can you please point in the direction of the documentation or tell me what configurations changes needed to make the visible usb dongle (s) to the virtual machine?

    Graceful,.

    Nelson

ESX does not support USB transfer, as in VMware Workstation etc. If you need to access USB dongles and also need to vMotion, you can watch the solution USB Anywhere of Digi (http://www.digi.com/products/usb/anywhereusb.jsp). It allows you to access USB devices over TCP/IP network. Works with most Windows systems.

We have good experiences with this and just love it

  • USB dongles wireless works only on Windows 7.

I would like to make this as brief as possible. I have Windows 7 Ultimate x 86, core i7 cpu, 2 GB of ddr3 memory, card mother p55.

I followed all procedures driver: install the drivers then device, the device drivers, install device then go to Device Manager and have disc etc. No matter what I do, device drivers say that they work, but I can never turn on the device. When I click Activate, it says 'activation... enabled' but it never does!

When I get out of the unit, he said now activated for 1 second, then disappears. I tried two different USB dongles, GW-MicroN and a Buffalo WLI-UC-GN (both using the ralink chip).

I used Windows 7 drivers, nothing is done and have used new devices even more recent drivers and others. This sounds like a glitch in Windows 7 with USB dongles, I even tried it on my friends W7 X 64, same exact problem. Other times it gives me a blue screen. Please help, thanks.

I don't have the security protocols listed in the properties of my adapter.

In fact, now I bought ANOTHER dongle, and it has the same exact problems as the other two, which seems to be a problem of Windows 7 I have read many people having this problem. The news that I bought is a GW-USMicroN-G.

Strange how only I can make it work is if I plug my iphone with tethering, then the dongle works AFTER this procedure. Care to explain this? And also, how can I use my dongle without possibly killing my iphone with an overload?

    Thank you.

P.S., the site says it is compatible with Windows 7, the box says Windows 7 top, drivers are Windows 7 ETC and I made all forms of driver installation.

  • USB dongle Wifi taking supported 802. 1 X

I need a Wifi Dongle USB that supports the Protocol from 802. 1 X.

The specific problem I am solving is that I am in a place of dead wifi in the office.  10 ft away the signal is very good.  I want to plug a dongle wifi at the end of a 10-foot USB cable to receive good reception.

Wifi office using 802 Protocol. 1 X so not all USB Dongles work.  I bought an Edimax EW-7822UAC, but it does not support the Protocol from 802. 1 X on OSX.  The source of this information is the Edimax support person I spoke on the phone.  He said that nothing the Edimax wifi dongles support 802. 1 X on mac (support on Windows).

Assuming you mean 802.11 x wifi is a standard. A dongle 802.11 x wifi isn't different protocol-wise of your bed in your computer wifi card.

The difference is required to push the dongle usb drivers. Some dongle manufacturers only create drivers for Windows. If you choose a dongle manufacturer that provides Mac drivers to enable the dongle work with your MacBook Pro.

  • Satellite P10 and Netgear USB dongle use

    Hello

NETGEAR insist it is a Toshiba system problem...

Whenever I try to inslall wg111v2 cherif I get... Failed to install... "RegDBCreateKeyEx failed", and/or... "cannot read the control on the Netgear server file.

I don't have this problem with my other non-Toshiba Office.

HM, looks like some related software question, but it s easy for netgear say you it s a problem with toshiba. It is like moving around customers as on a chessboard. :(

But okay, now you´re here and we all will try to help you. You say you don t get the problem on your machines 'NON-TOSHIBA.

So, I would say that you should first try to recover your machine with the recovery media, and then try to install the USB dongle. If it really works then it was just a problem of software and it s resolved but if not then come back and we'll see the next today.
