To upgrade is to buy a newer version, either by download or disc...  To update is to apply a free change of the version used.

A purchase outright a version can sometimes be cheaper than an upgrade.

    It still works on Windows XP and maybe Windows Vista compatibility mode. It will not work on Windows 7 natively.

    I set up a new Mac running Mac OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks and migrated my using Migration Assistant software. Most of the software are fine, but I can't run Director 11.3. I get the following error:

    I rebooted the previous Mac and disabled the software here, but I still get the same error message and Director will not start.

    I used PrintMaster12 for several years without problem.  I don't use it often, the last time I used it may have been as early as last summer.  When I tried to get into it recently I got the "this program has stopped working", Microsoft will notify you if a solution is found, the message.

    Purchased PrintMaster 18 so I thought that it is perhaps a problem with an earlier version and has the same problem.  There is urgency to solve what I need to access the files I have created in the program and printed and distributed in the coming days.

    I tried a clean boot of Windows and turn off Data Execution Prevention, without change to the message that I get.

    I would be very happy to get help to solve this issue.  I installed a variety of small games BigFish downloads in the past year, but again, no other program that I can remember.

I understand that the weather app is is more updated and thus stops working.  You can get an application similar to the following link.  It's just one of the many weather apps out there so maybe do some looking around and see one that meets your needs.
