Through white icon on the desktop and Windows Explorer.

Hello

A lot of my icons on the desktop and Windows Explorer is more appear a normal icon, instead, they show a white square.

Here is a screenshot of my 3 hard disks with shortcuts on the desktop.

http://i293.Photobucket.com/albums/m...blankicons.jpg

I tried to solve the problem by doing a rebuild of the cache icon but that did not work.

Anyone would be able to help me solve this problem?

Thank you.

Hello

Have you used the utility changes or registry to remove the shortcut arrow overlay?

First make sure the utility is uninstalled and the registry change is removed.

Try this and check if that helps:

1. right click on a box empty desktop and select Customize.

2. click on adjust the resolution of the screen.

3. in the drop-down color menu, select medium (16 bit).

4. click on apply.

5. when Windows you asked if you want to keep these settings, click No to restore your 32-bit color depth.

6. restart your computer.

See also the mentioned thread link below for workaround for this problem:

  • White white icons on the desktop, bar of tasks & files

So as the title says, most of my shortcut icons is turned to 'record' white icons by default. This happened after a certain program called Registry Booster crashed Mid-process. Uniblue support recommended to restore the backup of the registry of the RB itself or a system restore. I tried both and it does not solve the issue. (OS: Windows 7 Ultimate)

Since then, I scoured the web for a solution and have tried the fixes suggested elsewhere. Among those who are the parameters manually, shortened reconstruction iconcache.db and using an integrated Windows spell bug (the name escapes me now), nothing is. I also tried an installation (well, 'upgrade' as they say now) repair of the BONE, which did nothing.

To be more specific about the problem, all shortcuts pointing to files of application or files turn to 'white sheets', as seen here: http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/4510/screenztx.png trash icon is normal for any reason whatsoever, and all shortcuts pointing to a file (for example, .pdf or .mp3) also look good. To be clear, all of the shortcuts function , it's just the appearance which is buggy.

It seems that the fault must lie somewhere in the registry, but I'm not familiar enough with it to know where exactly. So if someone could suggest one alternative other than wiping the drive clean (I don't have a handy external HD, so I'm not looking forward to burning 20 DVDs for all of my files...), it would be greatly appreciated :)

Reconstruction IconCache.db worked for me, if I stop the first Explorer (it did not for me if I don't): http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/d5efec0c-e967-4127-b217-15da34d7fb00/icon-problem-in-windows-7?forum=w7itproui

    • DEL /a IconCache.db
    • Shutdown /r

    The evening

The icons on my desktop constantly changing arrangement. This seems to be a flaw in Windows 7 I saw several other posts on various forums all relate to the same question...

My first thought was to contact MS and ask about this, but this idea was quickly put end when I discovered that they would charge me for this match (Yes, even it was involving an operating system 'fault' instead of asking me generic technical support!)
