Thunderbird 31.7.0 s-l-o-w running!

TBird 31.7.0 on Windows 8.1 with Kaspersky AV

Everything was great until a few days ago. TBird still downloading messages quickly, but windows task are slow to open, and very slow start of tasks. 'Delete all marked spam' allows to send 50-100 messages in the trash in a few seconds, now it takes about 3-4 seconds per message! Opening messages is slow, everything slowed down. Any suggestions? Thank you!

OK, I downloaded and ran HitManPro. no malware but some software advertising and other junk that apparently has been piled on that Kaspersky missed. All, deleted TBird seems to work OK for now. I do not understand how it was affected, but apparently it was. I recommend once again.

When Firefox bombs Thunderbird, I re - install Thunderbird and it bombards Firefox. When I say "bombs" I mean that the Thunderbird quick launch icon turns into a generic icon and Thunderbird will not run. The same thing happens when I have Firefox running and I install Thunderbird. I did a scan for malware using Malwarebytes and Norton and my system is clean. I am able to run the Chrome and IE 10 without problem. I am confused and I would appreciate your suggestions. I am running a dual boot Win 7 and 8 system no problem except for this. I have not tried on the partition of Windows 8, I use Windows 7 almost exclusively. The only other thing I can think is that it is a relatively new computer generation and I used MozBackup to transfer my files to messages and contacts from my old computer to Thunderbird and Firefox to new construction. Not sure if this could be the cause of the problem that I am experiencing.

  • Suddenly I can't receive emails from a particular address on one of the three e-mail accounts that I have on Thunderbird.

These emails come from a non-response address, and I get quite a number on a daily basis, so I was wondering if Thunderbird has a sort of virus protection that prevents me to receive. They won't in the junk mail folders or spam folders. I checked with HER on the Web site that sends these emails, and they said that everything was going well at their end. It shows emails through. However, I could not receive even their test sent from their account message no answer. BUT when they sent from another account, it came through fine. So the problem seems to be with my receipt of messages from addresses no answer. This began to happen on December 14.

I thought maybe it's something in my antivirus software, which is something called Symantec Endpoint Protection (provided by my employer), so I tried also the implementation of all the email accounts three on another computer. This serves as my Thunderbird email software but has another antivirus (Avast free) program, but I'm having the same problem.

Finally, I tried bypassing Thunderbird by accessing my three email accounts from the web. Still not received the mails no reply. Would it be to say that Firefox is also involved?

Obviously, * something * on both my think computers these emails 'no response' are spam or virus even. (Yet, I get spam every day a lot of other sites, go figure!) The only thing that the two computers have in common is Thunderbird and Firefox. The computer, I tap on the Windows XP Home with service pack 3 rums. The other computer running Windows7 Home.

My last effort would move to Outlook from M$, and I really don't want to do that! Can anyone of you offer any help? I'm sorry that I'm not a geek and cannot re - program anything, but I will try very hard to understand what you're saying.

    Thank you in advance.

    Susan

It is between the sender and your Inbox. That's all you can say. Your provider should be able to track your account and see if the message comes from their server.

Thunderbird is a software email client. It runs on your computer and helps you manage your e-mail. It can not download messages that do not in your Inbox on your server vendors.

  • When I click to open thunderbird but the e-mail window does not appear until the icon shows the app closed, how to fix this?

To start thunderbird, I click on the quick start on my toolbar icon, it highlights that if beginner, then a few seconds later, returns to the closed state. No e-mail window never appears on the screen. When I check the Task Manager, thunderbird does not appear in the list of running applications, but one or two processes show running on the Details tab (one first process by clicking on the icon, and then another if I right click and try to open one of the windows in option). I am running Windows 8.1. It worked well earlier in the day, so I have no idea what happened past. Restart the PC does not help the issue. How can I get the windows thunderbird appears on the screen again? If I can't, please send the instructions to backup all the associated email and address profile information so I did not lose anything... then uninstall and reinstall thunderbird and restore all the info related to my current profile. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply... still not sure what happened, but I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling bird t. Everything is back to normal after that. So your solution can work, but I don't have the chance to try it. My solution, but is not ideal, was effective and the problem was solved.

  • When I close thunderbird is still running in the background and always using data?

I'm with an internet provider that has limited use of data per month. If I close Thunderbird when done using it it is still running in the background and using the data or is it closed here for not to retrieve messages or using the data?

When you close Thunderbird, it cannot check or retrieve new messages.
Not sure what you mean with "always running in the background.
When you close Thunderbird is closed. Period.

  • Thunderbird, ask administrator password. I give him and he said: no good. How to do this?

I'm trying to download Thunderbird on Windows 7. When I click "Run" it extracted and then a window "run as" appears. My choices are myself and administrator. I tried them both. Neither work. I googled how to find the administrator password. That's what I use and it's giving me a logon failure: unknown username or bad password. When I select myself under the run as a window the window disappears and nothing happens.

It seems that you have put yourself in place with a standard user account that does not have permission to download and install programs.

Set your user account as an administrator or when booting Windows to connect on the admin account.

Here's something I found on google.

  • I downloaded Thunderbird, but when I run the program, nothing happens and it will not be installed.

I tried to download and clicking on "run" in IE 11 and I tried using the current Firefox browser. Nothing works. I also tried recording and execution of the download itself. I click on "Thunderbird Setup 31.4.0" but nothing don't be going (waited 5 minutes). However, when I go to the Windows Task Manager, it shows "Thunderbird (32 bit)" in "background processes". I run on Windows 8.1 (64-bit). I've never used Thunderbird before, but I wanted to give it a try because the program e-mail, I use since nearly 20 years seems to be dead, and their society seems no more to support it. I saw good reviews for Thunderbird so what am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

    Restart your computer.
When he is back yet once run the installer with administrator permissions.

Help! I use Thunderbird for my work email. He started running so slow it can take me 20 minutes just to send 1 email. He maintains the gel and guard download archived old emails of my files.
The slow & freezing mainly happens when it starts to download old messages.
I deleted all the old emails except all sent and received from 2014.
Unfortunately, I didn't know that I had to be compacted messages & never did until I started having problems about 1 month ago. I now compact daily. I also installed Mozbackup and saved my info because I uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird. Unfortunately, this did not fix the issue.

  • After upgrade to 38.3 cannot send outgoing messages

I made a mistake and accidentally updated to Thunderbird 38.3 on my MacBook El Captain running. Now, when I try to send emails from Thunderbird, I get a could not connect to the server leaving a message of unknown reason. All the outgoing server settings are correct, evidenced by our it staff of the University. Is exactly the same thing on my PC before and no help from anyone was never able to remedy. I can open, connect and download messages very well. I just ache to send messages and the connection to the outgoing server. It started with TB worm. 38.2 on my PC and now 38.3 on my Mac. Very irritating. Had to switch to Outlook as my email on my PC client and now will have to find a new client for my Mac. Older versions of Thunderbird always worked fine. I do not know what so new and improved who have them do that with our company Exchange system, but we all must abandon Thunderbird now. Does anyone else have this problem? Any thoughts on how to fix? I posted this problem before, but none of the suggestions have been on this problem or helped.

  • No emails arrived today, the server is down?

I'm not a COMPUTER guru so when to stop my emails, I don't know how to check that everything is ok.
I get regular e-mails through accounts not on Thunderbird but our business email come via Thunderbird ([email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]).

    Grateful for the help.

    What SERVER would that be?
Thunderbird is the client software of e-mail running on YOUR computer.
You can contact your provider of mail on their servers.

  • When I get a new email in my Inbox, my whole computer crashed.

I always let Thunderbird open when I'm on my computer so that I can catch emails coming. There was a lot of windows updates to download this morning and an update to Thunderbird, also. I started downloading Windows updates and I continued with my company.

I don't remember if all updates had installed when this happened since I was in another program, but I noticed a message alert popped up in the system tray. At that time, I couldn't do a thing. My computer just locked up. I let it sit for about 5 minutes, thinking it was just slow, but it never unlocked so I had to start my computer hot.

When the computer is back upward, I noticed all the windows updates were installed. I grew up in Thunderbird to check my email. I went ahead and updated to Thunderbird (since it had caught my attention when he started, the update is ready) and continued with my business.

As soon as I received another email, the system will lock up again. I rebooted again. I then entered Thunderbird and it was the ONLY program that runs and open on my desktop. I received a warning in my system tray and all the computer locked again. I'm afraid to open Thunderbird more, but need to my emails. Can I disable the system tray alerts?

  • I got the mail to set the user name and password

I have the new version of Thunderbird and can not get signed in. I asked for new passwords and the new username, but have not received the e-mail.

Thunderbird is the client software of e-mail running on your computer. Thunderbird has nothing to do with the administration of the details of your email account. 'S done it with your email provider. If you use the form to reset password on this support forum to try to reset the password for your e-mail account, you're wasting your time.
This forum and your email account with your email provider are two different things. Most e-mail providers have a password reset link on their page for help by e-mail.

  • After upgrade today all the body of the email are empty in all folders

I've just updated Thunderbird today and as a result of the upgrade, I can't read all the emails. All messages from all folders have a body of the email blank.

I can see the text in the messages as they arrive in the popup of the taskbar and also if I send a message.

    Can anyone help?

Well, my experience is that Outlook comes with its share of quirks, but I get completely where you come from and why you would want to.

I'm glad you do. I'm sick of hearing people who give nothing, which suggests that they will do better when they give Microsoft $150 for Outlook. They get all the quirks of perspective and a Bill.

I personally think is it's the people who think that they will get the best service if they threaten to go to the competitor who really said that. Just as we regularly get people fighting all the way to the support Forum to ask for a phone number where they can talk to a real person of their personal question. I don't know where they think the money to pay the salary of this fictitious person comes. Everything I am is from his pocket and abused.
Perhaps they do not realize that in a commercial sense competitive Thunderbird is simply not there at all.

For the original, poster of this picture, it seems that you are using the add-on for Thunderbird Conversations. Maybe if you have disabled it Thunderbird would work properly like this add-on has a problem with the current version. You can find all you need to do is to restart Thunderbird for the update can fill.

Looking at the site of the add-on I see this

        • Version compatibility *.

Thunderbird 38: Please make sure that you are running the most recent version (2.9.1) of the addon and restart Thunderbird - Thunderbird will allow you to spend 38 without updating the Conversations, giving you a broken configuration
31 of Thunderbird: go to 'Versions' down to install 2.8.X

Two analyzers antivirus running in parallel is a stupid idea and ultimately will cause problems.
If I were you I would get rid of McAfee. It has caused problems for many users of Thunderbird endless.
