Thunderbird slow download on windows with Norton 8.1

Hello

I used Thunderbird with Linux, Windows XP & 7 (Norton) without any problem.

Now have 8.1 (Norton) the download speed is very slow and boring, I tried to download only the headers but if I want to download the rest of enamel is very "hit and Miss" do not download.

get very fed up

Thank you very much for answering I forgot the question was still open.

The problem has been resolved by the recent update for Thunderbird - download speed is now instant - and still is after upgrade to win 10. I can only assume that it was a problem with the previous version of Thunderbird.

    Hi wagsysmama,

As Amritha K said, you can't download Windows Vista using modem connection, because the connection is very slow. But you can try to download the standalone version of the Package on another computer with an internet connection ADSL and then burn to a DVD and try to install on your computer.

To download the standalone package please click the link below.

  • My new HP Pavilion with windows 7, I bought recently is terribly slow download?

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and bought a new HP Desktop Pavilion. It's terribly slow download.  So slow, the computer falls asleep before the download ends.  Windows 7 sucks. Is there a solution?

58elmer wrote: I tried to download "Speed test" yesterday and there never load.  My computer would go to sleep before downloaded it.  I have "Snipit", but need to learn how to use it.  Thanks for the info. Elmer

Hello 58elmer, you could try go to Control Panel Power Options, Information of Performance tools and select it in the top left of the screen, change when the computer sleeps. Put forever.

Then select choose when turn off the display. Indicate what ever.

Then to close these windows, and on the desktop, right-click on the desktop and a menu will appear which shows a screen saver. Click on the screen saver and select None.

All these parameters will keep your locking system and can allow you to run the speed test and also to use the tool captures Windows 7, which can be accessed at the beginning, all programs, accessories, Snipping Tool.

its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one

  • Windows 7 update - slow download, svchost high CPU usage

I have a problem downloading by using the Windows Update application. This problem started after January 2016.  In the past, the request of update seems to work without the use of the svchost high CPU and with a reasonable download time.  There is usually a delay until the download has started, but then they ended quickly.

I have 4 computers: 3 running Windows 7 Pro (CPU - Intel dual, i5 & i7) and 1 running Windows 7 Home (Intel i3).  If the problem is not related to the CPU hardware as best I can tell.

My update setting is 'check for updates but let me download and install ".

The Windows Update process includes 3 steps:
    1. identify the important and recommended updates for your computer.
    2. the selection and download updates.
    3. the creation of the restore point and of the installation, the selected updates.

My problem is step 2, download the selected updates.  This happens on all 4 systems, and I do not expect a download to be this CPU load.  The download time is too long on all systems 4.

My online search for answers has been frustrating, but several posts said search for viruses, malware and Trojans.  I ran Malwarebytes (free), Windows Defender, Norton Security and ESET (online) on systems and no objects are found.

My most recent experience involved my Lenovo 7847 system (Intel dual core). Monday, May 23, I checked the updates and there were 15 updates important and 3 optional updates listed.

After reviewing the updates, I chose the 15 updates and started the download process.  The svchost.exe that is associated with the update happened to 45-60% CPU usage, update status showed no size or % finished and the task manager - network or explore the process did not show any activity download for a long time.

Finally, after about an hour, the update showed the download size and the % downloaded.  Svchost usage remains high during the time of whole download.  Once the download is complete, the restore point was created and updates have been installed, who also took some time (but it would be I/O CPU & Drive dependent).

The download status has not changed during most of the time that the download process is running.  The Task Manager and process explore both show very little network activity up to that very near the end of the download procedure. There is therefore no real indication that the process is blocked or just turn very slowly.   It almost seems that the Microsoft servers are overloaded, they delay the download for some reason, or the process svchost and sub-process fail to create good handshake with the server for download.

    My Questions:

    1. Why is svchost usage so high when nothing seems to happen?
    2. Why does take an hour or more to download the updates?  These aren't the huge file sizes, and this attempt to update was almost 2 weeks after Patch Tuesday, then Microsoft servers should not be overloaded.
    3. Why is the situation unchanged for so long during the download process?
    4. most important, what can I do to change this situation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My 'update problem' seems to have changed.  Checking updates takes a lot of CPU resources and a lot of time.

We will leave well enough alone for now. [It took 3-4 hours for MU download/install updates of June on my Win7 boxes].

But please bookmark this thread. If the behavior persists in July - and especially in August, respond to this thread instead of starting a new. Good luck!

  • I can't download to work - it does not copy the mp3 files to my location (as defined in tools/options) - it gives me a new window with a player - no dwnlo

I am running windows xp sp2 and I put my site to dowload under (Tools/options), but when I select an MP3 file to download, firefox does NOT copy the file to my location of choice on my HD - instead, it opens a new window with a 'player' of fortune and starts to load the player with the MP3 file. The problem is that I have no idea where on my system, firefox has copied this file, so, I can't leave and come back later and read this MP3 file using winamp. I need to hear right then or lose - if I close this new window (with this puny little ' player'), then I lose the download, there where to put firefox on my PC (I have no idea where it is). It's all under firefox 25.0

I also use FIrefox 12.0 on an older windows 2000 machine and that works perfectly - I can download any MP3 file, I want to, and downloads of firefox 12.0 (on win2k, sp4) to my location (on my HD), and it gives me the download window so I can watch its progress and have some control over break and resume , and, when it's done, the download window offers me the option 'open containing folder' so I can make sure that where I wanted. In other words, Firefox 12.0 on WIn2k, sp4 works better than firefox on winxp sp2 25.0! What gives? I went through and set up my options for XP just like I did with Win2k and everything looks good, but firefox 25.0 don't know just my chosen and always default place to give me fortune player and I am not able to actually copy the mp3 files on my hard drive - it's firerox almost unusable 25.0 since downloading mp3 files is a big part of my use firexfox - please help. I am not able to upgrade windows at this time, and since firefox 12.0 still works fine on win2k, I do not understand what has happened to firefox?

Hello littleberry, you can click on the link that leads to an mp3 file or right click on the drive in firefox and choose to download the file like that...

Original title: Vista SP2 help for download

I just download Vista SP2 on my Compaq Presario PC and it seemed to install correctly.  However, after it restarted my computer, nothing happened.  The computer was on, but he was not making a noise and the screen was black (and eventually appeared in mode 'sleep').  After about 3 hours of this, I restarted my computer manually. When I turned it on the Tower made a lot of noise (sounded like a blowing fan), but the screen remained black and didn't try again to exit mode 'sleep' (even when I moved my mouse and restarted my monitor).  I am unable to do anything on my desk now, then, what can I do to fix this?
