  Is anyone aware of a black halo around objects of transparent feathers. The halo occurs when the area full of pic feathers to transparency.

  NOTE: The Image looks fine in Photoshop (CS6), but when it is placed as a TIFF RGB in Indesign (CS5) a black halo appears on the page. See Visual explanation below.

  

  This only happens when the image is a RGB Tiff and the layer mask is used to create transparency. If the image is saved as .psd, then it's fine. Also when tiff RGB is converted to CMYK, then it is ok.

  Ideally I might just start using the psd format, but I have to manage a lot of images that are already in tiff RGB and it's tedious to have to open and re-save all these.

  I'm new to scripting InDesign and need to write a JavaScript very complex for InDesign using the Toolbox. My concerns are if CS5/5.5 users will be able to run the script written for CS6. He knows incompatibilities with different versions? If Yes, where can I find a document to compare the differences. I will probably need support the CS5 and CS6 (and anything in between), so a possible solution would be to build for CS5, but if I do, will I'm missing out on all the new key features of CS6?

  There are differences of 1 DOM version to another and they can and will break your script, if you have not designed to handle. For example:

  If you want to use script like me labels (because they are awesome) the following will break if you use CS5 or later:

  app.activeDocument.pageItems.item("myLabel").remove();
  

  So, you have to force the DOM to V6.0. But when you do so be sure to come back to the original version after you're done or you can create more problems. This can be done like this:

  app.scriptPreferences.version = 6.0; // CS4's DOM version
  app.activeDocument.pageItems.item("myLabel").remove();
  app.scriptPreferences.version = 10.2; // Current CC DOM version
  

  It is very annoying (for me at least), so I wrap functions that require DOM changes with a customized version changer to handle this for me. Regarding the list of incompatibilities? Not sure, maybe someone here has one, I know that jongware has a website with all the DOM password 1 version to another. This can be found here:

• inDesign CS5 and CS6 inCopy workflow problem

  I looked further discussions and did not answer the question to our problem.

  We are a small publishing company and we have the license for about 7 inDesign CS5 best we bought a year ago.  We have contracts with external publishers to change content for us using inCopy.  Last year, there is no problem.  But any new Editor under contract we sign today, which in turn buys inCopy, we have problems with our talk with one of the other files.  All new editors under contract are able to purchase inCopy CS6.  This leaves us with the problem of having to inDesign CS5 on about 7 or so of our used machines and 6-8 CS 5.5 InCopy on outside contracted publishers and another 3-4 editors under contracts with inCopy CS6.  When publishers with inCopy CS6 try to open our InDesign CS5 files, either they will not open at all, or they will open, the editor working on the project for a while, their program crashes and they aren't able to recover (reopening) the files again.  Which translates into lost hours at work.

  Has anyone encountered this problem?  Is there a work around or a quick fix.  We hate having to upgrade to CS6 for all our copies in InDesign home and then ask our external publishers have inCopy cs5.5 upgrade to CS6.

  If this is the case, when CS7 comes out and we are hiring more outside editors, we must continually go through the process of upgrading again?  It is too expensive to use and our existing contract publishers.

  All thoughts are a help would be appreciated.

  It is one of the error messages from a Publisher under external contract using inCopy CS6.  The file crashed after several hours of work, when the Publisher went to reopen the case, they have received this error.  Which seems to be a generic error code that does not tell us anything.

  Unfortunately the different versions of InDesign and InCopy work well with each other. More recent versions of the program should be able to open to older files, but they can't save backward. I don't know what the cause of errors with newer versions of InCopy however.

  Just downloaded the trial version of CS5. Still no support for Hindi / epithets (half consonants are simply represented with a character instead of a good half-consonant).

  Wikipedia says there are 442 million speakers of Hindi in India (more when you add other dialects using the Devnagari script as well as people use epithets out of the India). Apparently, a market Adobe is more than happy to ignore. Ugh.

  If anyone knows of a decent way to use epithets in CS5 (Photoshop being the other main) applications, please go in.

  I thought that you could not access the ready composer world except via a plug-in. Thanks for the suggestion - I will write these guys here and ask

  There are several different ways that a plugin is certainly easier than writing a script or by using a template. I use in-tools Tools of the world ; I do too much work RTL but expose these settings saved me so much time I tell myself that the plugin paid for itself four hours into my first job using it.

  Should work if you fillow the directions to save your preferences here: replace your preferences

  Instead of replace you in CS5, paste the files / folders in the same places in CS6.

  I have a ton of user final documents in QuarkXpress 8.0 I need to import in InDesign CS5.  (Here is the manuals installation and operation for data modems and telephony with many illustrations and diagrams in them).  I just downloaded the trial version of InDesign CS5 and could use some help.

  The procedure of import (for the old software) seemed to be quite heavy.  I hope that InDesign CS5 is more capable and efficient import of QuarkXpress files.  I also read on of Markzware Q2ID.  This product does work with InDesign CS5, or is it still necessary with InDesign CS5?

  A customer that I support is having messages "Import failed" after trying to place a TIF image in inDesign CS5 when it was first edited in Photoshop CS5.  The images that have been previously published in CS3, can for example be placed fines.

  Test: created a new inDesign document, but still get the error import failed.

  I have a problem with a script InDesign that works this way in ID CS4 and CS5 ID, but stops working in ID CS5.5.

  What the script must do, is to change the preferences to import to a table saved in an Excel file so that I can place a table not formatted in a new textFrame in my InDesign document. The Excel document is a .xlsx file.

  What the script (or at least seems to do) is: nothing. The table that is placed in the textFrame by the script is always formatted, as seems to be the standard InDesign CS5.5 preference to import tables from excel files.

  As it works on my machine (!), a reason may be that just the spelling should be: TableFormattingOptions.EXCEL_UNFORMATTED_TABLE

• TIFF images that I used in trial version are now blurred in the full version of InDesign CS5.5

  I placed two images in tiff format (Visual poems, I did) in a file (a manuscript) using a trial version of InDesign CS5.5, and they seemed crisp and clear. Then I bought the full version of InDesign (the product of education as part of Adobe Creative Suite), has opened the file, and the images two tiff are completely blurry!

  When I open the TIFF in photoshop and consider "actual pixels", they are crisp and clear. The resolution is 300. For images, I tried making a lower resolution, and that did not help.

  First of all, if you do not see 'reply' on the web page it means that you are not connected.

  Version should have nothing to do with it, and if you actually use the same file for the link, on the same scale, the preview should be the same, assuming the same display quality setting. If you straightened the picture, however, which can cause a difference of display.

  for continuous-tone images 300 DPI should be fine. the line drawings, it is low.

  I do InDesign CS2 to InDesign CS5.5 update.

  I have the indt file. It was designed by using the CS2 and now converted this file using InDesign CS5.5 CS5.5 indt.

  But I am facing a problem while making the export as pdf in version CS5.5.

  I'm following steps below:

  (1) indt open the file.

  2) menu file-> import XML... [This XML file contains < a href = "Web site link" > html tag]

  (3) [no change-defalut option selected] XML import options

  (4) ideally, it should merge XML data with the indt file but this is ask me for feedback and show me "search:" dialogue [below instant check]

  

  I did some research and know I get this dialog search because of the < a > tag XML. When I removed the < a > tag XML, then it gives no dialog and XML imported without any problems.

  I get this XML system and I can't manually delete the < a > tag of xml.

  However I was getting any error while making import XML in the CS2 version.

  Please can someone help with this?

  When there is "http://" in the anchor tag, it will jump to the top of this entry window manual indd/indt export to PDF and it will be failed in export by the action script.

  I contacted Adobe software and it was bug. Adobe has confirmed that they would be realease the patch for even some time later, but I have not heard anything. I got the job by removing "http://" using java.
