Time machine always fails after a day or two

It is so incredibly boring, I can't understand what is happening.

I have an of UDB external HARD drive that I use for time machine. All the time after a day or two of the race, he's going to say "time machine could not backup"Backup"" when I click on the flag for the information, it is said...

"Unable to complete backup, an error occurred when creating the backup folder.

Research online, I found to delete the .inprogress folder, but there is nothing here that named (I looked in fFinder and Terminal)

When I look at the console it gives me this error:

21/07/16 8:00:49.676 AM com.apple.backupd [21664]: error: (22) setxattr(2)) for key:com.apple.backupd.HostUUID path:/volumes/backup/backups.backupdb/jeff'aos MacBook Air size: 37

21/07/16 8:00:49.677 AM com.apple.backupd [21664]: backup failed with error 2:2

When I try to run disk utility it it fails, but the spectacle of newspapers is because he has failed to dismantle, if I try to unmount manually, it can not because it is currently in use.

If I run 'sudo lsof - xf + d/Volumes/Backup /' I see this

COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE SIZE/STOP NŒUD NOM_PERIPHERIQUE

SDM 63 root DIR 21r 1.8 2 510 / Volumes / backup

I've looked everywhere and I can't solve this problem on mine more, I spent hours and hours already

Please take each of the following steps that you have not already tried until the problem is resolved.

1. disconnect, then reconnect the drive.

2. in the menu bar, select

▹ System Preferences Energy Saver power adapter ▹ ▹ 

and uncheck the box marked

Put the hard drives to sleep when possible

If it is checked.

Some external readers ignore setting the energy saver and turn down in any case. In this case, the drive to replace with another type, unless the manufacturer's website has a firmware update to fix the problem.

3. If the player is connected to a hub, connect it to a port built into the computer. If it is already connected to a built-in port, and there is another such port, use.

4. If the player has more than one deck (for example, FireWire and USB), try another.

5. check the Web site of the provider of the car for an update of the firmware.

6 contact the seller to see if there is a firmware setting, you can change.

7. If you have installed the provider for the reader software, uninstall it.

8. triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select this option:

/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist

Right-click or Ctrl-click on the highlighted line and select

Services ▹ reveal in Finder (or just to reveal)

in the context menu. A Finder window should open with a selected file. Copy the file to the desktop. Then he (the original, not the copy) move to the trash. You will be asked for your administrator password. Restart the computer and re-create your settings in the Time Machine preferences window. It will show you that you have no backups. Don't worry; which is expected. Perform a backup to test. The backup can take much longer than usual. If TM now works as expected, delete the file that you copied to the desktop.

9. If none of the steps above resolves the problem, the drive may be defective. Try another. You may be able to save an external drive mechanism by installing it in a different pen.

Yes. The files are still on the computer so that they will always be saved by Time Machine.

  • Time Machine restore failed

    Hi people,

This dragged on for days now so I need your help to repair what is currently a brick that cost a couple of grand.

I had my logic board & battery replaced in my mid 2015 MBP 250 GB.

I'm trying to restore my computer using Time Machine.

I ran into a number of difficulties.

First, I tried to restore from the latest backup.

    Estimated to take 8hours.

    He failed.

    I tried again.

He failed because he now says that the backup has been used by another machine.

    It was mine!

That solved by restarting my computer and restarting the Airport Extreme, Time Capsule.

Down to the low bar show my back upwards.

It failed after only 30 minutes or more.

I read the fantastic troubleshooting guide, which seems to indicate that the new logic board is time machine it's a new computer.

I have a problem with that.

I got my MBP passing an MBA (when I bought it) upward.

    Worked well.

    The work during the night.

Next maybe useless idea was to get any glitches OSX went with a fresh OSX install and do a restore from time machine after that?

So, my next attempt was to do a fresh install of OSX El Capitan.

Until now this process should take 5 days! Seriously!

I'm afraid to look at tomorrow incase it extends to a month or something!

    What should I do?

When a card is replaced, unless it is flashed with the old serial number, it is a new machine that is where your problem is.

If repair has been to an Apple store, resume and get them fixed.

If this was done at an authorized service center, resume and have them repaired. If they do not, contact Apple.

  • Time Machine backup fails because "there is not enough space on the «DiskStation «»

My backups regular TimeMachine to DiskStation stopped working a few months ago.  I thought it was because I ran out of space but now I installed an extra 1 TB RAID and I always get this error message.

Here is the chronology of events that led to the error message.

    16/01/10 23:09 - Backup started manually (1.47 TB TB 2.45 available):

    16/01/10 23:11 - preparation of backup... (1.47 TB TB 2.45 available)

16/01/10 23:15 - "backup: zero KB of 63.8 MB, calculating time remaining..." »

16/01/10 23:22-2.1 MB saved 63.8 and the first estimate of the remaining time: 'about 4 hrs.

    16/01/10 23:50 - now 2.3 63.8 MB MB, 16 hours left (I'm ready for bed).

16/01/10 23:55-5 minutes later and it backed up 419 MB!

16/01/11 00:55 - an hour later and it is up to 6.72 GB but the gas target increased to 7.39 GB (I went to bed)

16/01/11 06:50 - next day morning and it's up to 23,76 GB and the goal is now to 26.13 GB

16/01/11 18:49 - I go home at night and it failed.

Here is the view viewfinder of the TimeMachine file that I am trying to backup (note, a lot of disk space):

This is the view of the Inspector of it:

    System details:

    -MacBook Pro 2013 with OS X 10.11.2

-LAN WiFi Pace 2Wire998 router with DiskStation connected by Ethernet, MacBook Pro by WiFi

-Synology DiskStation DS411slim with 4 x 2.5 "hard drives installed.

A device third-party network attached storage (NAS) or a router is unsuitable for use with Time Machine, especially if it's your only backup. I know that's not what you want to hear. I know that Time Machine accepts the device as a backup destination. I know that the manufacturer says the device will work with Time Machine, and I also know that it usually seems to work. Except when you are trying to restore and find that you can't.

Apple has published a specification for network devices that works with Time Machine. No third party provider, AFAIK, does meet this specification. They all use the application of Netatalk incomplete, obsolete Apple Filing Protocol.

Apple does not endorse any device third-party network for use with Time Machine. See this support article.

Network backup, use as destination an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or a 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only 802.11ac base stations support time Machine, not older model.

Otherwise, use Time Machine at all. There are other ways to save, although none of them are nowhere near as effective or as well integrated with OS X. I don't have a specific recommendation.

If you are determined to continue to use the device with Time Machine, your only remedy for any resulting problem is the manufacturer (who will blame Apple, neither you nor anyone else but herself.)

  • Time Machine backups fail

I have a Time Capsule 2 TB 4th generation bracket place my 2013 21.5 in iMac running OS 10.11.3. For the two weeks have been a failure my time machine backups. A few nights ago, I was given the opportunity to create a new backup, which I tried to do. However, the new back-up has never been created - says still 'wait to first full backup"status on the menu bar. I am able to access the files on the Time Capsule that aren't in a backup file Time Machine and use Time Capsule as a router. When I enter the Time Machine on the iMac, it appears as if it has never been a comeback upward (which, of course, I guess). I tried to use the repair disk utility - I had to run on the Time Capsule, but it did not help.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Looks like you receive a message that a few nights under what looked like this:

It is probably the most frightening message that you never see when you use Time Machine, because it shows that your backups were corrupt. Time Machine will try to erase, and then create a new backup.  Unfortunately, sometimes Time Machine fails when it tries to do.

The best thing you can do right now is to perform a deletion process of resetting the data on the Time Capsule disk to completely erase the disk for errors and try again another backup.  If you decide to try this, you must copy all other files you might have on the time Capsule to another disk for temporary storage... unless you already have other copies (you should, otherwise, you have no backups for files on the Time Capsule).

Perform the zero... erase data, which will be probably 3-5 hours or so... should improve your chances of a good Time Machine backup when you restart the process... IF... the last problems were the result of software on the Time Capsule disk errors.

IF... the time Capsule hard drive is physically damaged... which is a possibility... you need to replace the disk in the time Capsule hope forward again.

  • Time Machine extremely slow after upgrade to El Cap

Time Machine problem with upgrade to Yosemite to El Cap on a laptop MBPr 15 "mid-2012.

Time Machine backup plan: by wifi or LAN cable for two different hard disks attached to a Mac Mini that is on the local network. Two USB mini drives would serve as a backup for a total of 4 Mac disks at home.

Behavior of Time Machine in Yosemite: dead normal. Backups were fast (10 Mbit/s in wifi, 80 MB/s when I plugged the MBPr on my LAN using a bolt of lightning for the Ethernet card.) Restored backups (I test them sometimes) fine.

I upgraded yesterday to El Capitan. Behavior of the time Machine now: excruciatingly slow. All the steps (preparation, backup, cleanup) takes hours. My laptop was connected to the wired LAN for 9 hours now and is only 1.26 GB thanks to a backup of 3.82 GB. Speed (from MenuMeters) is under 10 KB/sec - Yes, it is * kilogram * bytes/s.

Speed of transfer of files between the two machines via drag & drop is very good, ~80MB/sec both on the LAN, about 12 MB/s in wifi. Laptop computer interacts with the web at normal speeds. It does not appear that Time Machine, which is watered, and only on my laptop of Capitaned newly-El. My other domestic machines (all on Yosemite still) back up normally.

    I tried:

    -power / reboot both machines.

-power / restart the LAN together.

-cycle Time Machine power switch in the Prefs system.

    -Remove the two drives as backup targets TM laptop, then re - specify with preferences TM;

-other things that I found through the search for this problem.

It is a common problem in judging by the many valuation model who met it. I searched a lot and found nothing that helped me.

I can't work without a viable backup. For now, I use Carbon Copy Cloner to duplicate my SSD MBPr for an external hard drive. Not really satisfying.

Did someone solved this problem? Can someone tell me or suggest a solution? Thank you very much!

Please make a copy of test in the Finder of the source for the backup volume. Is it too slow? Delete the files copied from the backup volume after the test.

  • Time Machine backup fails

We have a time Machine that is inadmissible for automatic backups. I use a MacBook Pro (2012, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB SATA drive) with OS X El Capitan v. 10.11.5. The backup of a now-dead Mac is also on the Time Capsule.

I get a: "/ Volumes/data/users of MacBook Pro.sparsebundle ' could not be found (error (null)). "error saving is attempted.

If I look at my computer in the Finder, I can see the backup drive and access it as a "Shared" disc (open the folder Data, look at content, etc.).

So far, I tried to remove the Time Capsule disk, add it again and try to save again according to a previous thread on this site. Now, the only difference is that I get a message that he "expects full first backup", and in Time Machine preferences, it records all the previous backups. She cannot finish the backup, when she goes to the backup with the same error message as described above.

I'm confused that I can connect to the reader through the Finder, but it will not save.

Thank you very much for any help/advice on fixing this!

Suggest that you first run an audit of your backups... to check that they are not corrupt. To do this...

Press and hold the option on your Mac key while you click on the "clock" icon Time machine at the top of the screen

    Then, click check backups

The process can take from 10 to 60 minutes or more depending on the amount of data on the Time Capsule disk. This will inform you when the process is complete.

    Hello

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • Under Windows, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key option key when starting Firefox.
    • Under Linux, you can open Firefox 4.0 + with leaving Firefox then go to your Terminal and running Safe Mode: firefox-safe-mode (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
    • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

  • Smartphones blackBerry reconnecting to jvm always fails

My curve 8520 has been perfectly well for almost 2 years now 3 days ago. He couldn't turn it on. It stuck on loading usually considered white bar when restart the device. I waited almost 5 hours hoping this loading ends and my bb started working, but unfortunately it didn't.

So I decided to reload the operating system. I used apploader since the last version of the DM. At first I thougt it will be fine coz my PIN is still detected by the charger. Unfortunately, there will be no phase ' reconnect to jvm. I got the message "impossible to connect to the device... try again. I tried to make this charge several times but always failed trying to reconnect to the jvm. Since then, every time I start up my bb, it still stuck on the white screen with "reload software 507" written on it.

I tried a lot of advice I read here and somewhere else looking simillarly for the problem I have. Here's what I've done so far.

    -battery pull (billion times!)

    -fees

-Remove the battery and waited 15 hours + then put it back

-used other batteries and other chargers (received from my friend)

-used another PC (tried on my pc win 7 64 bit and win xp my friend SP3)

    -use another USB cable

-used all the available on the pc USB port

    None of them worked!

-A person give to think I swip first my bb with BBSAK or Jl_cmder, but none of these tools has detected my bb.

-J' have also try to open Device Manager > USB > properties > power management > can I tick "allow these computer turns off to save energy" (read somewhere). But still does not.

-By reloading the os, I tried to connect to the bb from pc when the apploader tries to reconnect to the jvm and plug again immediately (also read somewhere). But in the end, I always massage "unable to connect... try again.

Now I'm here asking tips or maybe a solution to my problem. I live in a town very small in Indonesia and there is no blackberry here service center. That's why I try to understand this problem myself. This bb is the first thing I ever bought with my first salary so it is kinda memorable for me. I don't want to just throw away (I really hope not). Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

In fact, I tried to reload using DM and now I just did again. I followed exactly the same step you said which are: I take the battery out, connect my bb to the pc via a usb cable and what pop up from DM occurred I chose the update... and then it happened again... When the update process enter "reconnecting jvm" phase... error message occur "could not connect..."
I use the latest version of DM (7.x) and I followed the step of url you mention all own OS reload. Of (?) > resources > support tools > reset. But I couldn't understand how to reset because the button to reset not active

    Hi Byakuya0007

It seems your device hit when connecting JVM or by updating the JAVA virtual machine. Please try this and see if it helps your device retrieve the current state:

  • Fusion 2 & Time Machine - best practices

With regard to the use of Time Machine backup virtual machines: my best reading of the various positions is "it works but don't do it."

    (1) unusual can happen to the virtual machine. SCARY

    (2) the backup drive will be consumed quickly. I always check this by looking at the rate at which free space is consumed. A tech rep Apple is said to be "file deltas" are stored - i.e. If the file then change only the changed items are written on the next backup, not the entire file. From there, I concluded that Time Machine is looking at allowance individual disk (blocks) units. This seems to be just what is called for with a file of the machine virtual multi GB. Hmm... not sure that I am continuously on the ground here.

In any case, can someone provide the consensus of the bottom line - I should exclude the virtual machines from Time Machine backups or not?

    Best regards

Either Apple technology does not know what he was talking about or you misunderstood or both.

From there, I concluded that Time Machine is looking at allowance individual disk (blocks) units.

This isn't how Time Machine works.  After the initial backup, which is a backup full, he then made incremental backups at the level of the file system not at the level of the block, and as such, there is more of that potential do not have all of the files that make up the full package of Virtual Machine backed up in its entirety.

In any case, can someone provide the consensus of the bottom line - I should exclude the virtual machines from Time Machine backups or not?

While Time Machine can back up and restore a virtual machine with success there are a number of conditions that can cause this to fail and without warning, and therefore it is not considered reliable for backup of Virtual Machines under normal conditions.

AFAIC backup is valid of a Virtual Machine is when it is done with the Virtual Machine to stop, not suspended and closed merger and the entire Virtual Machine is copied to another location in which one has a little bit duplicate of the complete set of the VM total at this point in time, and nothing less.
