Time Machine icon?

Just updated to Cape, 10.11.5. I had the time Machine is turned off for the update process, wanted to make sure that everything was OK before Relighting. Well Yes, things seem to be working, then I reactivated TM. Even waited to make a backup... OK, done, now then it's own schedule.

EXCEPT, the drive where I backup to watch HD generic icon, not the time Machine specific one. Always appreciated the Visual how much my TM... did they pipe the icon? Whatever for? Bums me... unless there is a solution to one of you can tell me...

Not to worry.  The icon was a little skittish.  Keep using it as normal and he will return.

If you know of bugs, you can always stick your own icon to the get-info pane to force change. If you need more instructions.

  • Strange/false Machine, Time Capsule, icons in the applications folder on the time

    Hello

A few days ago I discovered, that the application on my time Machine icons - backup are false. (iMac 27;) OS X 10.11.2; Time Capsule 3TO via WiFi).  If I open the backups.backupdb file on my Machine of time with the finder, the initial backup of my iMac shows these icons as seen in my screenshot. 'Restore' Time machine panel shows the same icons, too.

    All other files are ok.

First I thought it's because my WiFi network is slow, so I plugged my Time Capsule via the LAN. Same result as above, wrong icons.

Management of time Machine on a USB HD normal all right...

However, I am able to restore apps, but it's annoying...

Anyone know it what is wrong?

Your Time Machine backup files are not intended to be modified in any way. Please leave them alone or your TM backup may be compromised. You can access the folder of applications through the user interface, as described in using Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support in the restoration of a section of backup Time Machine.

  • To access the template Pages on Time Machine

    Hello

I'm tying to access my template Pages stored on my time from a laptop Machine. I have access to the time machine but can't seem to find the record that I'm looking.

On the laptop that I use, I use the "Go to the Finder folder" option and enter "~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iWork.Pages/Data/Library/Application Support/User Templates. It takes me to the page templates on the laptop that I use.

I am wanting to use this same command inside the time Machine to Access Pages templates that are placed in memory.

I tried 'Shift - command - G' and entering "~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iWork.Pages/Data/Library/Application Support/User Templates", but it just brings back me to the Pages of laptop models, not the machines of the era.

    Your help is appreciated,

    Stophen.

Use the step to go on record to land inside your local user Pages v5 models folder as you have indicated.

Then click the Time Machine icon in your Dock. This will open the same folder of your last Time Machine backup location. You can then select a current model to restore or go back in the history of Time Machine and select a model in a previous backup, Time Machine. When you find the model you're looking for, click on restore.

  • Failures of Time machine

I had failures where time machine has failed to create a backup.  I was able to work around the problem by rebooting my mac.  After I do it, I select the time machine icon on the line top of the machine and do a 'back up now '.  Then it's successful.  Three questions:

    1. What's happening here?

    2. do you have any suggestions?

    3. I don't have not tried "save now" without rebooting.  Would this work?

Please do reset a SCM and reset the PRAM, it is possible your drive external hard is preparing to fail and must be replaced. If you have purchased an external hard drive of product mass as that of WD or Seagate, consider a higher quality (and prices) as an OWC Mercury Elite Pro external hard drive, you can find them at www.macsales.com

If you don't know how to resets of the terms above, please click on iMac Intel SCM and reset the PRAM

  • Once again the value of the Time Machine

I did install clean and fresh for the new OS El Capitan, erasing any ssd drive, where I imported all the data external Yosemite Backup by usb drive.

I used the airport Time Capsule for 2 years in Yosemite and now I want to connect to El capitan, but I wonder if I lost inside TC previous data.

My field of application must Add new backup of El Capitan, keeping the previous Time Capsule content (of course if there is free space!)

This may occur for use transport CANADA data if I forgot import specific data.

How can I join TC El Capitan please? Suggestions?

Your original (from Yosemite) backups for the past two years are still on your time capsule to the sparsebundle disk image.  You have done a clean install of OS X El Capitan and retrieved the data and the settings you wanted from your Time Machine backup.  What you need to do is then open Time Machine preferences and choose "select disk" - and re - select your Time Capsule.  A new backup will start (and it will be a full backup) - but it will not overwrite your original historical backups of Yosemite - they will remain separate within the sparsebundle.  A quick glance-, it may seem like they are gone - but Time Machine will show you only the backups for the latest version of Mac OS X by default.  You can 'Browse other backup disks' hold down the option key when you click the Time Machine icon in the menu bar.  If you need to restore your whole machine to Yosemite or to a point before installing El Capitan - the "Time Machine backup restore" option in the recovery partition will allow you to review and select the old backups of Yosemite.

To "do" to ensure that your time capsule is not running out of space.  If space is low - there is a risk of Time Machine, remove older backups.

If you believe that there is a lack of disk space on the time capsule - another option would be to create a new folder in the root of the time Capsule and name it "old backups.  Drag the sparsebundle existing in the new folder.  The move operation must be almost instantaneous.  Time Machine will no longer see the sparsebundle and will not attempt to clean or to crush it.  When the next backup run - it will create a new image of sparsebundle containing a full backup to the root of the time Capsule.  You can always restore (if necessary) of the sparsebundle you have hidden in the folder "old backups.

A third option (if disk space is very limited) would be to move the sparsebundle existing in the folder "Old backups" and allow Time Machine to create a new sparsebundle.  At the same time - you can copy the old sparsebundle to another drive somewhere - and then delete it from the time Capsule to free up space.

  • Time machine and Spotlight corruption

My time Maxhine back up not ended. I realized that I got and I canceled the back upward.

I used my second disc for the back and finished. When I went about this Mac it was completely blue. I reindexed my hard drive. While the result is not perfect, it is now. And I saved since.  My concern now is:

    1. are my ups back corrupt and if so it ruins so any chance of

    2. a successful restore, time machine? Because it looks like my hard drive needs to replace.

    Thank you

    1. check if your backups are ok by checking.

Option, click the Time Machine icon in the menu bar. Select check... and let it run. You should have the computer connected by ethernet to it to drive at a reasonable speed.

    2. He will restore successfully as long as you choose the date before your main drive is corrupt... You already have a copy of your TM backup on the second disc, which is good. Check that one too... so do not touch again...

Get the player on the computer has replaced as soon as POSSIBLE... so it is still viable to use as source of files... don't wait to total collapse.

  • Time Machine restore, most of the alias icons are broken?

I recently restored the system of Time Machine, but my alias (for most) have broken images.  If I copy the aliases, they are all fixed, but I can't do it exactly for each alias on the machine!  Restoration of the alias of Time Machine seems to have the same effect.

Is it possible for the shot to solve this problem?

I tried several solutions, compensation resolved cache:

    Deploy sudo rm - rf / *.

    sudo rm - rf ~/Library/Caches/*

    Reset

If I had known what specific cache which is held the icon broken, images that would have been better.  It turns out that only some of the specific sizes were broken, which explains why the icons seem to appear and then disappear again on another page.

I had to restore my end 2013 27 "iMac Time Machine after one of my mac mail application has become corrupted. • Mac OSx Sierra Time Machine WD my cloud

Since upgrading to Mac OSX Sierra my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air are not capable of doing Time Machine back Ups to a WD MyCloud drive that is connected to our router.

We have updated the firmware on the WD My Cloud drive to the latest version and contacted WD on this problem, so far they have not come with a solution to the problem.

If you open Time Machine preferences and then observe what happens, by hitting 'Back Up Now' systems do "Looking to save the disc" then "Preparing backup" then stop and then go back to the status of 'rest' without backup anything to the top at all. It is the same on both machines. You can see here: Time Machine Back Up My Cloud

Notice how the drive icon changes to the point where it stops working and then goes to the other drive which is a USB.

Now, to complicate the issue further... an iMac connected via Ethernet to the router can go back to the My Cloud drive perfectly as before. If Apple changed something with the wireless protocols I think but that?

  • Photos say too old version after restoring from Time Machine

I tried to update my wife 5 c's iPhone but iTunes (version 12.4.3.1) kept saying unknown error (-50). I read that a possible problem might be something on an xml file in the pictures with a conflict or missing. I thought that this might be a good time to try my first restore with Time Machine. I thought I would restore Photos only a few hours of this day. While I was doing that in the middle of the restore, Time Machine was trying to make it's hourly backup and I got an exclamation point saying that he was unable to save. After the backup is complete, I tried to open the pictures and it says "library old Version, please update your library 'Photos' using iPhoto free library upgrade available at Apple. So I downloaded the file .dmg and still nothing. I don't want even if an earlier version of Photos, I want to what I had and I thought of making a time Machine would be restore was supposed to get back to how I had it. My Time Machine works again but the new backup, he's trying to back up my photo library. I know because I recognize the size of the backups as being the same size as my library of Photos. I went about this Mac and checked the storage. He showed my disk as empty and my regular hard drive on my Macbook Pro (retina 13 "- beginning 2015") showed use of backup almost exactly the same size as my library of Photos. A few moments later my external drive shows correct usage, but big backup on my regular HD space always shows the same backup use suggesting that it stores my library as a backup, or at least that's my guess. One thing that I tried was the Option key pressed when opening pictures to try to select another library that I have an old migrated iPhotos library in my folder of photos I thought that maybe Photos was trying to open. As a side question I was wondering if I could remove the migrated iPhotos library as whenever I click on it, more or less said that he has already been migrated, he discovers in a compatible version of Photos. I hope that I have given all the good news. If I'm missing something I apologize. I'm under El Captain 10.11.6

What did restore exactly the time Machine? You write "Restore Photos", indicating you restored the Photos app, but the error messages seem to apply to the photo library.  You have restored a library of old Photos?  If you restored the photo library, try to open it directly by double clicking it or dragging it to the Photos icon in the Dock.

  • time machine/capsule backup lost

    Hello

When wanting to access the saved data of time capsule via the time machine, time machine shows zero backup history while there would be more than a year with a value of more than 900 GB.  I get this in time machine preferences:

When you click on the available data disk, time capsule/machine displays no backup history and appears empty; the above data disk it is not accessible and cannot be removed.  Yet one of these disks is indicated as an accountant 963 GB of data, and I suspect that it is the only inaccessible.  How the hell could this happen?  Anyone has an idea, and advises?  I do not tinker with the application and airport utility shows no connectivity issues.  Please, let me know as soon as possible - thanks!

    Frank M.

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for Time Machine discovered a corruption of backup... it will then proceed to delete the backup and start over. The sparsebundle is not deleted... He still occupies the space that it used to before deleting the content took place.

The only way to know if that is really what happened is to open the sparsebundle in the finder. See if it's contained in there... If there is... the question is different. TM has lost its connection to its own protection is also not rare. Any change in the network, you have done for this cause. It is possible to reconnect to the existing backups.

    My recommendations...

    1. read some of Pondini howto in order to understand what is happening.

    http://pondini.org/TM/troubleshooting.html

A4 and A5 are the most useful... TM to reset and verify backups.

    2. open the sparsebundle in the Finder and see if there is indeed always glad... If so, check in the TC. To do this through the disk tab in the airport utility. Plug in a USB key in the TC...

Once you check the disk...... delete it and start a new backup.

You can still access the old backup by plugging the USB directly to the computer... Right-click on the icon of TM in the dock. And select Browse... According to the screenshot below.

The TM and TC combo turns out to be less reliable over time (pun intended).

  • Backups Time Machine missing after model clean install

For a Mac using Time Machine to back up, is there a way to clean install OS X for a new internal SSD and keeps backups Time Machine historical which have been made using the previous internal SSD?  While as I use it to back up the new internal SSD TM, TM will show the backup history of both the previous internal SSD and the new (up to the capacity of the disc from the TimeCapsule).

MacBookPro8, 2 I used Time Machine on a time Capsule TB 3 towards the rear for 2 years. No problems and shows 2.24 available 3 TB.

Last night I did a clean model 10.11.5 install a new SSD, and a transfer application, the user accounts Migration Wizard, etc. Since the previous flash SSD disk internal (format / installed the new SSD, attached to the internal SSD previous via USB flash disk, then started in Recovery Mode to clean the installation model to the new internal SSD and when prompted did the previous internal SSD Migration Assistant).

Everything no problem above went very well. But now when I "TimeMachine enter", I see that the most recent backup made (before the clean install).  The right navigation (which goes in reverse chronological order of the lower part of the screen to the top) seems to show the date on which the previous backups have been identified.  But if I click on a date, TM Finder main window does not scroll from that date. The top / arrow down buttons to the right of the main window of Finder TM also do not respond to clicks.

So far as I can tell, I've lost all TM backups except the most recent. I have all saved data elsewhere outside time Capsule, so between that and the 1 backup, I can see in TM I have not lost anything.

If I had done the Migration Wizard from the TimeCapsule rather than the previous internal SSD flash drive, would that have kept all historical TM backups?

    Thanks for any idea

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.
