Time Machine several multiple users HDD

Hello

IM currently using a rmbp15 with two user accounts and time capsule.

I have an external HARD drive I save so.

The other user now has an external HARD drive that also need a backup.

I just connect the two HARD drives when connected to my user account and start the backup TM? Even if I don't have the PW in my keychain?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Can't get my head around it!

Thank you very much!

Unless you exclude the external drives, all will be saved. I guess your backup drive is big enough to back up everything?

  • Need help with a virtual machine between multiple users on iMac even...

So I installed Fusion on my Intel iMac and created a virtual machine that uses Windows Vista. My problem is that I need to have two accounts Admin on Mac can use Vista/Fusion. I read a little about it and tried to put the virtual machine folder in the Documents of the other admin folder. Then I logged in as the admin account and Fusion found the records of the virtual machine and loaded vista fine. But of course now the first admin account cannot open Vista more. My question is can I copy the VM "Bundle" in the documents of the other account, so both users have files? Or with this screw things?

Or should I put the virtual machine 'bundle' in the shared folder to make it work as I need to? I know that the two users can access the same VM at the same time, but as long as a user stop Vista and the merger and disconnects, can another user log in and open Vista/Fusion?

  • Why finder hide Documents and office files in the home directory of the user by activating iCloud drive? What about the behavior of Time Machine backup or third-party applications?

I'm under MacOS Sierra. I am connected to my iCloud account. I activated the option Desktop and Documents, but I did NOT activate the option optimize Mac storage, because I wanted to make sure that all my files would be available locally, just in case, I would need to work without an internet connection.

-J' noticed there now a menu iCloud in my sidebar in the Finder, with links to Documents and desktop.

-J' also noticed that Documents is no longer presented in my favorites in my side bar of the Finder.

-This last suggests that files saved in 'Documents' are not saved more on my HD... but only in iCloud, which isn't what I want.

-Then, sailing in the Finder Macintosh HD/users / 'My account' /, I noticed that my Documents and desktop folders are more visible, as if these files are not saved in my home folder most. Which raises the question: where are My Documents and files on my HD, so they are still?

-Using a shell session in the terminal and again navigate to/Users / 'My account' /, I noticed that my Documents and desktop folders are still there. Which suggest that records and records of office reside actually still in my home folder under users, but Finder actually hide it and present them as being stored in iCloud only disc. It's very confusing.

    This raises several questions:

-In the first place, why Apple hide Documents and office files in the directory? Why not view these folders in iCloud and directory?

-Whence the iCloud folder or drive, reside actually on my hard drive?

-What time Machine. Is it still back up my document files and folders?

-What games third-party app mirroring backup of My Documents files and folders? They still work properly? (I use Livedrive backup and Sugarsync for files mirrored across several macs).

-How can I understand that Apple is doing with my folders and files? Some users might be happy with the iCloud drive concept, without worrying about how it works, but I don't take chances, and I want to keep a good understanding about the functioning of my system.

Could someone explain what is exactly happening?

With office and selected Documents, access to these files are now in the iCloud Drive, not in your home folder.

My guess would be that they do not appear in your file because it would be confusing for many people to make them in two places.

If you want in the Favorites, open iCloud Drive and drag them in the sidebar here.

All about iCloud drive has been saved on your Mac. With the exception of the office and the Documents, they are in ~/Library/Mobile Documents. However, if you choose optimized storage, older documents are removed from your Mac. I don't know what is "old".

~/Documents and ~/desktop have new metadata indicating probably Finder does not display them in a Finder window, only in iCloud drive. They are not hidden in one of the normal methods of unix.

I have not tested Time Machine or any other backup program. The folder still exist in your directory home, and they still have all the files, I don't think that changes anything.

  • If you set time machine to a single account on an iMac, and you have several accounts, he will return for all accounts?

Time machine backup all drives connected locally on your Mac, maintain existing permissions for all users. You can add folders or Volumes it should pass to the blacklist.

It can back up to any local or accessible via the network of road, including the drive Time capsule on a LARGE Airport Extreme Base Station. It can't Backup AND Restore properly from a NAS or disc attached to a 'short' Airport Extreme.

  • How to divide the request to assign a role to multiple users in several.

    Hello

While we are assigning a role to multiple users OIM11g at the same time, demand has cut several queries to get approved by the Manager of beneficiaries. Please let us know ways to apply the composite to divide the application.

Why two separate approval process? Instead of two only have a license deal with assignment of dynamic loop based Manager of beneficiary to the owner of the role, and attach it to the level of the operation and you should be good (with auto level template and request approval).
The child requests are generated only at the level of the operation and NOT to any two previous levels. It is the engine of the application for you.

  • How to remove "Registered user" in time machine

    Hi people,

I'm trying to use Time Machine for the first time (very novice on this), using an external hard drive, my problem is that when I get to the window of Time Machine it automatically inserts my registered user name and then asks for my password.

My password, connect will not connect to it, the only option then is to use the 'comments' that does not give me full access.

Could someone please advise how I can reset the login screen, any help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you very much

  • Cannot switch between multiple Time Machine backups

I generally save my 2010 Macbook Pro to a 2012 Time Capsule, which is attached to my router via an ethernet cable (most recent) wireless. On a trip, I make the additional backups on an external hard drive. However, when I go home and try to return to the TC, my internal HD is now on the time Machine "Exclude" list and cannot be removed (greyed out). When I try to save, I get a message saying "no disks are available to back up."

What has happened a few times, and the only solution I could find was to delete my original Time Machine backup and put a new (which took forever).

Any ideas why my HD internal is added to the exclusion list after using Time Machine with an external hard drive?

Time Machine backups on a network drive or a disc attached locally stored in different formats. Switching between them was not in the overall theme of the design of this service of OS X.

I suggest that you set up Time Machine to use multiple disks.

FWIW, in my case, I backup destinations, Time Machine on a Time Capsule and an external hard drive of 2 bolt of lightning. When both are available, the time goes 'take turns' Machine backup on each drive.

If a disk is not available, it backs up to that which is, and which ignores the backup of the other. When the two are connected again, backups continue on both.

  • Time Machine backs up with different users

    Hello

I have 4 users put in place on my iMac and regularly run a time machine backup.  Having never had to use the backup, I wanted to check.  The backup TM covers all 4 users, or is it just back up the files for the user who is logged?

    Thank you

The best way for you to get an answer to this question is for use you to try actually TM to restore a deleted file.

I am amazed at the number of people assumed that their backups are working properly, but the first time they check is when they try to get back it after a HARD drive failure...

Anyway, unless you deliberately excluded them for a reason, you should find that all the user files are included in backups of TM. Default TM backup almost everything, apart from a few temporary files and caches.

  • Time machine access after a clean installation with different user name

    Hello

I did a clean install upgrade to El Capitan in Yosemite. I chose a user name. How can I connect my new account to the old Time Machine?

    thx for your help

    Rainer

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

  • How can I remove multiple backups of my Time Machine drive

My time machine drive has reached the point where you have to delete an old backup before it completes a new backup.  Is it possible to delete several backups (e.g. all 2014 and 2015 ups 25%) since the Time Machine disk at the same time?  I know how to delete a backup but want to delete several at once.

By removing the old back ups, remove the first one made or that it has the basic material on which TM all backups are built?

    MacBook Pro 2011

    El Capitan

    16 G RAM

    1 TB SSD drive.

Time Machine drive is 2 TB.

    Thank you

I came across exactly the same problem earlier this year. The best answer I found was here: thegreyblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/shrink-your-time-machine-backups-and.html in short, Time Machine, always create a full backup, not an incremental backup. So, no, you don't cause damage by removing one. I did it without adverse consequences. Second, use the tmutil command to delete old backups. sudo tumtil gives you the full list. I wrote a bash command line script, as the author points out. I deleted everything I had since last year, from the first backup performed in October, with:

    $ sudo tmutil listbackups

    Password:

    / Volumes/Seagate backup more Drive/Backups.backupdb/mkauffmanmbp/2016-01-01-003303

    / Volumes/Seagate backup more Drive/Backups.backupdb/mkauffmanmbp/2016-01-02-005714

There was a lot more lines, what we are after here is the location to be used in the next line. In my case it has/Volumes/Seagate Backup more Drive/Backups.backupdb/mkauffmanmbp/ you need do the same thing, use it-before all the spaces in the path as shown below. Below, I've used 2015-1 * because the mine began in October 2015. I have therefore of 2015-10, 11 and 12. If you want to get rid of all 2015 you can use 2015-*. If you want to get rid of everything before October, you can use 2015-0 * which would remove 01,02,03,... 09 to 2015.

    $ sudo tmutil disable local

    (Here a line.)

    $ for i in/Volumes/Seagate\ Plus\ Backup\ Drive/Backups.backupdb/mkauffmanmbp/2015-1*; tmutil delete "$i"; fact

    $ sudo tmutil activate local

    I hope this helps!

    Happy new year!

  • Time Machine exclude user folder repeatedly

    Hello

My time machine continues to ignore my user folder. ~ is listed in the exclusions and if I delete it it's just go ~ after that I saved and closed the file of the option (see screenshot)

I'm tempted to remove the relevant com.apple.TimeMachine.plist no success outside the delivery of other time machine preferences.

    Any other suggestions.

Found the solution to reset correctly a plist after deleting, you must reboot until the system tries to establish a new preference setting. Erased all settings and kept cleared, will be useful for other problems as well I think.

  • Parameters for the single instance of DCOM for multiple users on the same machine

I have a DCOM on a Windows 2008 R2, Enterprise Edition machine. I would like to be able to open an instance of the DCOM and have it accessible by multiple users on the same machine, i.e. users connected to Windows accounts.

What settings will do? In the tab 'identity' in dcomconfg for my DCOM object settings, I tried "interactive user", 'the user running' and 'this user', all three lead to the same result: start a new instance DCOM on easch Windows of the connected customer accounts, despite the existence of bodies being already running on other accounts. This baffles me, especially with the third alternative, 'this user', which should certainly lead to all proceedings being started by this specific account? This is not the case. Any help would be appreciated!
