To connect to other computers on the network

Is it possible to connect to other computers on my network through the slate of 7 (laptop)?

Can take a look at Splashtop2 in the game store.  Worked great in webOS, should be just as good in Android.

  • Vista can connect to other computers on the network, but not to the internet

I have a Vista computer that I just reinstalled and it is connected through a router Thomson to a Win7 machine and internet (or at least it should be).  For some reason any Vista machine refers to the network as a public network that I can change this private and turn on discovery.  If I do that, then the machine Vista can see the Win7 machine through the router, but cannot connect to the internet.

I tried to use the disk driver for the Thomson router on the Vista machine, but at the time wherever he tells me to connect cable internet installation program does not detect that the cable has been connected.

Troubleshooting with software Vista suggests simply reboot the router (that I tried without success).  Needless to say that the Win7 machine connects to the internet fine.

I was wondering whether to try to remove the connection and start again, but unable to do so because when the cable is plugged in tells me you cannot delete an active connection and when I disconnect the cable network connection disappears and so cannot be deleted.

    Hi IanRC,

    Try the following steps.

    Step 1

You can try to disable the antivirus software on your computer and check if it works. Activate antivirus once you check the status.

Note An antivirus program is designed to help protect your computer against viruses. You must not download or open files from sources that you do not have trust, visit Web sites that do not trust, or open attachments when your antivirus program is disabled.

    Step 2

Try the Microsoft Fixit. Open the link below and click it on the Fixit button.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/928233

Check if it works and post back the result.

  • Cannot see other computers on the network

    Am on XP SP3.
When I go to network connections,
    Right-click on local area network
Click Properties under the general tab,
Click on install and click Service
.. all I see is a list for a McAfee driver but nothing for Microsoft. I removed my computer some time ago with McAfee & he must have created problems that I can't see other computers on the network. Is there a Microsoft driver, I need to install and which will help to solve the problem of not seeing other computers on the network.

On the general tab of the properties of your network connection to the LAN card, you should see a box under the heading "this connection uses the following items."  Most Windows XP configurations for home use have 4 entries in this box: Client for Microsoft Networks, QoS Packet Scheduler, file sharing and printers for Microsoft Networks, and Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol.

If you don't have these, you need to install, even if you really need not the Scheduler of QoS packages.

You seem to have got almost to the right place, but be aware that when you click on the button 'Install' in the box, you are given 3 choices: customer, Service and Protocol.  The "Client for Microsoft networks" is obviously a "customer." 'Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol' is a 'Protocol' and the other two are "Services".

Asked this question in the Windows 7 forum also because the problem was between windows 7 and Vista.

    Hello

If it has started, you can try a system restore - an update "might" have caused the problem.

    1. try a system restore back to a point before that happened. And immediately thereafter enter
Control Panel - Windows updates - top left settings and set it to download and informs you instead
Automatic. Leave it until you are sure that everything is OK and then you can add them one at a time
to troubleshoot BUT click right on and HIDE all the driver updates. Also stop at day of drivers like below
and let this value - manually search for drivers when you think you need. (See how and why to)
    stop day of drivers below.)

How to make a Vista system restore
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html

To uninstall an update if you determine that there are problems - Panel - updated Windows - down left-
    Updates installed - uninstall

I had completely forgotten the system restore!  While looking into the system restore, I found that when I moved into my new House and has cable Internet installed, the cable technology installed a program of comcast on my computer.  This caused me to not be able to connect with other computers.  After rolling back to install it before it works!   Thank you.

  • Client VPN prevents internet access from other computers on the network

    Hello.

I run Client ver 4.6.03.0021 from an office on a network of 11 computers via a hub 16-port. Internet access is through an ICS gateway to the cable modem. Once I changed the modem cable to test a backup and then switched back to the original modem. After this, only computers that have the VPN Client (running or not) could access the internet. Computers that have no customer VPN can access only certain sites. Commonly viewed sites would say "site found. Waiting for answer", but the answer would never come and IE 6.1 cling. When I would try ping sites, it would fail. However, some sites such as Google.com would work.

On one of the computers, on a whim of head, I installed the VPN Client but have not set up a connection. Now, this computer will connect to any website I want.

Is there a fix easier to get access to other computers on the network without installing the VPN Client on each of them?

    Thank you

    H. Adams

    Hello

Looks like you are running in MTU problem. The reason I say it is, automatically reduces the MTU value to 1300 VPN client during the installation for the whole system. That is to say all the client computer installed VPN that have MTU from 1300.

Try to cut down the MTU of other systems that have no VPN client installed to 1300. If it's a Windows system, you can use Dr. TCP (free).

I'm terribly sorry for wasting your time.

I realized what the problem was. I've implemented the new computer exactly as the old, same name and everything. Come and find the computer name of the computer being the same as the old conflict and did not again see what was on the network.

So the trick was unplug the old computer from the network.
  • Unable to access server vm from other computers on the network.

I can access the IP address of the server to the virtual machine to the host machine, but unable to hit if other computers on the network.  This is the first time doing this on a machine Windows 7, so please let me know if Miss me something, because I did it on other OS and it worked.

    Thanx

As I posted in your second post...

You need to configure port forwarding if you want to access the guest from outside the host. You must change the VMWare NAT configuration for this file (see you second post).

The host can access the guest without the redirect because it shares the same (virtual) network (VMnet8) with comments. Do not externel systems. They must go through the physical host NIC first. This is where redirection comes in the game.

  • Machine of Windows 7 cannot see itself or other computers on the network.

I work with a volunteer organization, is attempting to add a new computer to their network. Add the new computer is a laptop running Windows 7 Professional (32-bit, 6.1 build 7601).

It is one of the three computers that connect via a wireless network, with the remaining three computers connected by Ethernet.
One of the laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 - bit, 6.1 build 7601) and the laptop rest and three desktop computers running XP Professional (5.1, build 2600).
The laptop running Home Premium has no problem with connectivity. He can see himself and all the computers on the network (with the exception of the new Windows 7 Professional machine). The XP machines can all be seen and also the machine Windows 7 Home Premium.
The Windows 7 Professional machine, however, cannot see itself, or one of the machines running on XP. It may, for some reason, see the Windows 7 Home Premium machine.
I can ping each computer on the network from him and he can ping other computers. I can even connect using his IP address and access the folders and files shared like this, but nothing I have seems to change him will appear.
I tried to disable the Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials, neither of which has an effect any. The computers are all in the same workgroup and network machines Win 7 is set to work on both.
I can't understand why this new computer should have these problems, I'm not a professional so there is probably something basic, I missed, but if anyone has any ideas I would be much obliged.
    Thank you very much.

You should check with the technical support of the mystery about its requirements for network program. Client/server different programs have different requirements. Certainly, you must assign your portable computer a static IP address. If the laptop is not always in the office or available, it is not really the choice the most suitable to host the game server a program. But presumably you know the better your situation and feel that the laptop will work. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Do not remember the WPA key. Other computers on the network

I don't remember my WPA key and reset isn't exactly an option since I have other computers already configured for the existing key. I don't mind reset other computers as well if I knew for sure that it works. However, there is a discrepancy between the length of the WPA key on my Linksys (indicated as asterisks-33) and the length of the WPA key shown on the laptop of my wife (indicated as asterisks-63).

I am trying to add a Wii to my network. Our router is currently not broadcasting the SSID, but I typed the name of the router in the Wii in any case. (She even will be able to find a network that is not broadcasting its SSID?).

I also added the Wii MAC address to the list of trusted computers.

Regarding the password, I considered to change but I'm worried I might spoil my wife configuration.

When I go into my wireless settings, I see that I use a WPA TKIP encryption which is 33 characters long. However, when I go into the configuration of the network on my wife's computer, she says that his encryption key is 63 characters (WPA - PSK TKIP). Why the keys of different length?

Is it possible to change the encryption key on the router to something I'd remember? If so, that will enter my wife's computer? Wouldn't make sense that what I typed in the settings wireless of Linksys (33 characters) would be the same as mine rather than 63 characters?

    I'm so confused.

    Any help?

First, the County of asterisk is meaningless.  Even the number of characters in your password is a secret, so all good programmer who wrote your wireless network card driver shouldn't have a number of astrerisk which corresponds to your password.

Set your "broadcast SSID" "enabled."  Do you really think someone will lose hundreds (or thousands) of hours of time to break your password, just enter a router WPA?  As long as you use WPA or WPA2 and a password, you shouldn't worry about your SSID broadcast.

You can use any key (sometimes called password or password) you want, but all the keys (in router and all computers) will be the same.  Ideally you should use a strong password.

Choose passwords (keys): you should never use a Word from the dictionary as a password. If you use a Word from the dictionary as a password, or WPA2 can be cracked in a few minutes. When you take your login password and key encryption (password or password), you must use a random combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters and numbers letters, but no spaces. A connection password, must be 12 characters or more. WPA and WPA2 passwords must be less than 24 characters. Note: Your key, password or password should not be a space in it.

Most individuals should have their routers defined so that "remote management" of the router is disabled. If you must have this option enabled, then your password needs to be increased to a minimum of 24 random characters.

An additional problem is that Windows XP requires SP3 run WPA2 (WPA with AES =).

  • Published the network Variables not accessible by other computers on the network

I am trying to create a system where a computer will display network variables that can see any computer on the network, this includes a person bringing in a laptop computer and the connection for a short period.  So I was looking through a large number of forums to find an answer and tried many solutions and nothing has worked.

This is where I am.  On a single computer if I update a variable network it appears on the DSM NOR (Distributed System Manager) under which the name of the computer and I use this variable and it is updated.  Any other computer connected to the network also appears on the DSM.  On the other computer, he sees the first computer in the DSM, but cannot see any one of the variables.  I also register the IP address of the computer, but it does not help.  If anyone has had this problem and know how to fix?  I had the same problem using my code for the project and the example code in the shared Variable Comms between Executables.Ivproj.

    Thank you for your time

    Mitchell

I had some problems lately with the network stream. I know that this isn't nearly the same as shared variables, but it uses the same underlying process in windows. In my case, it's the windows firewall in Windows 7 that has the problem.
