  • Need help to understand the oracle plsql design phase.

I am new user oracle plsql for learning. I wanted to know the following points.

    (1) is there any process that we follow before developing procedures for oracle.
    (2) is there any algorithm, flowchart, diagrams that we use for the Oracle procedure development.
    (3) what I should learn in order to begin to develop procedures for the oracle.

    organization charts
    data flow diagrams

There any standard used in industry? comments or pointers would be useful

    user507531 wrote:

Meanwhile, I would also like to know if there are any designs / charts, high level design, low level of design, ER diagrams to create before you start any development of Oracle plsql.

It depends on the environment, work in and value standards. Some expect a case of use (UML) before a single line of code is written. At the time of Cobol, an organizational chart was generally expected.

With some new programming approaches, the test cases are often used to define the program (as in turn, which defines the objectives of the program).

ERDs come with database design - with the design of the PL/SQL program. You can use an ERD for a PL/SQL program, but is not part of the design of a PL/SQL program. It describes the database instead.

  • How to understand the Oracle (as opposed to DB2) tables

I am a beginner and you need to ask a question.

To determine the number of records in dba_jobs is 1.

Can I describe the table and find there are about
    18 columns in the table.

Then I run a SELECT * on the table.

When I select, looks like it is printing on about 8 different records.

With only the MISC ENV field being filled.

    How should I interpret it

Here are the commands I entered:

maybe try to select fewer columns rather than ' *'.
If you use sqlplus, then you can type "set your comments on" and at the end of the results it will tell you how many rows are returned.

  • Need to understand the basics of Oracle RAC and grid technology, for training

I need to understand the infrastructure Oracle RAC and grid, a manager / training perspective.

I see links here and here , so a few questions:

-What is the fundamental difference from the layman's point of view (for example, a Manager)?

-What training options are available for a generic 11g DBA to learn this new technology? I've seen this course from a partner of Oracle ("" courses: Oracle 11 g: RAC and Grid Infrastructure Administration accelerated Release 2 ""), to a boat load of money, during 5 days I think. So we are looking for something a bit more reasonable (and accessible), for example, books, online, etc.

For a very basic definition, ACR is technology that is used by the database and IM is the infrastructure that makes the CAR work. In a response to the forum, this is probably all that can be said about the two. For a very long answer, you should read the links you cited.

    # 2, the course you are looking at is called accelerated because it combines two courses in one week training-RAC (4) and GI (3). So it's a day 7 curriculum that we would do in a 5 day course and who must justify its cost. But let me say, it's a really very good. But on the other side, it can be pretty intimidating to someone who does not already know these technologies. So I suggest that you send your team to each course individually and no doubt after doing some research. They can start to read the following books

  • Update of the oracle.iam.ui.custom - dev-starter pack

    Hello

I created a super-simple library that I added to the oracle.iam.ui.custom - dev-starter pack. However, I'm not sure how to actually deploy such things, and what do you do with regard to get things to work.

    That's what I currently have:

-Simple class called EchoUtils that has a method named 'getPing()' - this thing returns 'PONG', and that's all, nothing else.

-Defined the EchoUtils as a backingBean (I wish really is an applicationScoped-bean, but never min now). The configuration is simple:

    <> managed-bean

    <managed-bean-name>echoUtilsBean< /managed-bean-name>

    < managed bean class >com.vegaasen.play.adf.utils.EchoUtils< /managed bean class>

    <managed-bean-scope>backingBean< /managed-bean-scope>

    < /managed-bean>

I tried to deploy the changes, but I'm just the following error all the time:

    javax.faces.validator.ValidatorException: oracle.adf.controller.ControllerException: ADFC-10001: failed to instantiate the class "com.vegaasen.play.adf.utils.EchoUtils".

It matters little if I restart the entire server WebLogic, only the IOM or just to redeploy the package. The error persists throughout all my trials. So what the hell I am doing wrong? This is supposed to be so easy, so I don't understand how I can manage to screw it up .

What about a frustrated guy named Vegard

As my application doesn't have something special, I never saw this error message:

    .. more than 74

    Caused by: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/vegaasen/game/adf/utils/EchoUtils: version unsupported major.minor 51.0

    at weblogic.utils.classloaders.GenericClassLoader.findClass(GenericClassLoader.java:270)

    ... more than 82

.. Which explains everything. Well, then I know that there was nothing wrong with what I've done, it's just that I've compiled with jdk 1.7 stuff, when we IOM running on jdk 1.6.

    Bah.

This error arose in the GUI when I accidentally saved my changes to the graphical interface, which was not intended. So my new question is this:

When I try the expression builder, where will the exception logging? I can't find them anywhere :-)

    Kind regards

    Vegard

  • Reg: Preloading in the Oracle client.

    Hi Experts,

What exactly is the concept behind the 'prefetch' in the Oracle client.

My understanding - is the number of records retrieves customer data base and throws it to the user.

Read a few posts on AskTom

    1. https://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:6840389700346552727

    2. https://asktom.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:429660240587

But still I got some doubts-

    1. you want to understand the concept in detail as network round trips, data packets, etc.

    2. a scenraio - say my query will generate 158 K records, and I put my line Prefetch = 3500 to my client. It will be really beneficial? The customer while recovery displays the current state as "go get... records of 2002...". 3003, 4004... etc.

Why get it 1,000 records, while I put the 3500.

    Please notify.

    Thank you and best regards,

    -Nordine

(on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 / SQL client Tools)

Imagine the most stupid possible implementation (in a perspective of network traffic)

The client sends a request to the database (1 trip)

The client then requests the first line

Oracle executes the request well enough to find the first line, which returns to the client (1 trip)

The client then requests the following line

Oracle executes the request well enough to find the first line, which returns to the client (1 trip)

    ---

Repeat 158 000 times, until the last line is read

As a round trip network is, in the best cases, the order of 10 milliseconds, it would mean that 158 000 back and forth network would consume seconds 1580 or about 26 minutes just networking air before adding in time for Oracle to generate results or the customer to do something with the results.

Table extraction generally reduced this problem by allowing the client to fetch more than 1 row with each round trip.  If you pick 100 lines at once, you have need of round-trips of 1580, which would take 15.8 seconds in our environment of hypothetical return of 10ms.  If you get 1000 rows at a time, you have 158 network trips that would take 1.58 seconds.  But, of course, is not really as simple as that.  Network packets are not arbitrarily size so the lines you are great and go look for these lines, the packages more you exchange which makes extraction individual times more.  This means that network fetch load reduction is almost certainly less linear on a reasonable range of fetch sizes - maybe the example of 100 line passes 30 seconds on fetch of network load and the sample line of 1000 passes 10 seconds.  As with anything, you want to compare in your environment with your data to see where your application gets the best performance.

As for what the customer is displayed, it is a question for the customer.  I guess the customer is written to view independent progress of the fetch size.

  • Need to understand the features of LEVEL when printing from 1 to 100

Can someone please explain to me how the following query?

    SELECT LEVEL just_a_column

    OF the double

    CONNECT BY LEVEL < = 365

I tried to understand Oracle generator line Techniques - Oracle FAQ , but I did not understand much.

    Hello

    ORA - aff wrote:

Thanks Frank. I appreciate your response.

Can you please explain more about how "CONNECT LEVEL <=> works in this query?"

I understand when it is "CONNECT BY PRIOR emp_id = mgr_id" - for a current line it's going to go and find a row in the table employees whose Manager id is equal to the employee id for the previous line.

Good!  You already understand the most difficult part.

In this case, CONNECT BY condition is

    Emp_id PRIOR = mgr_id

This condition uses emp_id PREREQUISITE, which means that, when deciding if a line will join the game at the level of results = n, he's looking to see what the emp_ids are on LEVEL =(n-1).

    A line will join the LEVEL = 2 if its mgr_id is identical to a level 1 = emp_id.

    A line will join the LEVEL = 3 if its mgr_id is identical to a level 2 = emp_id

    A line will join the LEVEL = 4 if its mgr_id is identical to a level 3 = emp_id.

    ...

and so on, until you reach a LEVEL where no line do not join.

    But I don't understand "CONNECT LEVEL <=> ?"

In this case, CONNECT BY condition is just

    LEVEL<=>

PRIOR is not used in this condition, which means that, when deciding if a line will join the game at the level of results = n, it is not all knowledge on what is on LEVEL =(n-1).

A line will join the LEVEL = 2 if 2<=>

A line will join the LEVEL = 3 if 3<=>

A line will join the LEVEL = 4 If 4<=>

    ...

and so on, until you reach a LEVEL where no line do not join (which will be LEVEL = 366).

Dear members. I need your help please

    I have a game I'm hosting at www.hiredforoneday.com

I signed the code with Comodo M/s. I wrote the manifest file (and changed so many times) but I still get the Oracle security warning:

"This application will run with unrestricted access, which can put your computer and personal information at risk.

Run this application if you trust the place and the editor above.

I'm must admit am bat / do not understand what I do.

Please I need your help on how to write the code manifest, how correctly put it in the jar and how to reference the html code

The game can be played online from www.hiredforone Day

I need the system clock of the client and also I used getResources() to read images in the jar file

on the site, I have a (Play) button. During a call to the play button, the index page connects to the file play.html which is located in the folder pots.
The file play.html calls the HiredForOneDay.jar file that is located in the folder of the pots. Files such as launch.jnlp, launch.html are all in the jarsfolder.

My game using Cardlayout (CardLayOutClass) in the Applets init() the

    Add (cardLayoutClass.getMainPanel (), BorderLayout.CENTER);
    cardLayoutClass.showCongratulationsPanel ();

    setJMenuBar (helpTopicSelector.getBar ());

    }

    } [/ code]

I didn't send in the manifest code because I did so many versions and now am confused

    Thanks again for your time

    Ruth

I don't think it's possible to prevent the warning message from appearing at least once. There could be an option 'do not show this again' on the dialog box warning that users can check to prevent it from appearing again. Codezone-the only thing I can think is to eliminate the dependency on the system clock client side so that the attribute in the manifest file permissions can be set to 'sandbox' rather than 'all rights '. You don't know if he read images from the same signed jar file still qualified under 'sandbox' - try it and see.

It is worth noting that other publishers Java RIA as the Knowledge Base for the Skillsoft Support are also facing the same issue, and they document simply as a relatively mild warning message.

    Hey Vandana,

Leave was correct, he had some problems with the packages that I downloaded earlier. I downloaded again and this way it is resolved. See below.

The only difference is in the size of RPM. First of all, I downloaded below:

    Name: oracleasmlib relocations: (not transferable)

  • Any idea about this problem on installing the Oracle Client

    Hello

Client computer: Dell notebook, i5, Win 7 SP1 Enterprise 64-bit (8 GB of RAM)

I am trying to install the oracle 11.2.0.3 client 64-bit on this machine, but facing problems. After I'm done specifying ORACLE_BASE and selection of the language and 'Administrative' selected option instead of 'instant customer' or 'Runtime', by clicking on the next button, progress bar is displayed and the time it's done with audit requirements that disappears from the screen moving in together. I ran the installer with the option "Run as Administrator" too and tried to use 11.2.0.2 setup, but in vain.

Quick question... I have a CSI valid, if I get a ticket with Oracle, they would help me on problem installing client that I am facing. In the past I was able to install the client on this machine, I am just clueless despite that I looked at the log generated by the Setup program file.

Unfortunately, there are administrators in Windows, then there are administrators.  Apparently not all administrators are created equal.  Don't ask me to explain, I do not understand myself, I just know that this is a truth.  Still a reason more I learned to avoid Windows I get chances.

  • Citing the Oracle EBS SOA, Webservice, Got ' 500 Internal Server Error"

Hope someone know solution to our problem, thanks in advance.

    Version: Oracle eBusiness Suite R12.1.3

We have a webservice SOA custom in Oracle EBS, test this webservice with SoapUI.

    Found a strange problem,

    If the number of records to return isn't too many (3000 eg.less), then Web service may return records with success;

But if the number of records to return is too many (eg.more than 6000 records), then Web service returns a "500 Internal Server Error".

Thanks Hussein, I understand the problem, to share my solution here

    ---------------------------------

    Cause

The problem is due to a requested webservice SOAP is too large, then cause the timeout of the Apache HTTP server.

    Solution

Increase the timeout setting in the ($INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf) Apache config file

Then restart the HTTP server, check again the issue.

    Thank you

    Paul

  • question related to the Oracle documentation

    Hello

I have a small doubt. Y at - there no standard doc Oracle who discuss about the standard RDBMS concepts like standardization, codd rules etc.

    See you soon,.

    Suri ;-)

In my humble OPINION, include the best way to understand the concepts of data modeling.  I don't know that all of the Oracle documentation covers this area to the extent, but I found some books that give examples of explanations.  These are old classic books, but the theory has not changed.  The first two are good for designing OLTP and the last of them is good for data warehouses.  OLTP books are CASE * method entity relationship modeling by Richard Barker and The Data Model Resource Book by Len Silverston.  Both give a lot of examples with good explanations.  The third is the Data Warehouse Toolkit by Ralph Kimball.  Not everyone will agree with the logic, because there is room for interpretation when it comes to design concepts.

  • The Oracle procedure update

    We have two tables.

    1 EMP_STAGE 2. FM3

Finding the structure for the two tables above.

    EMP_STAGE                                                       EMP

    -----------------                                                       --------

    EMP_ID                                                                 ID

    PAN                                                                       EMP_PAN

    STATUS                                                                STATUS

    LAST_DAY                                                            EMP_FLAG

    END_DATE

one of our table EMP_STAGE requests get data then the EMP_STAGE of the table data will be loaded into the EMP table.

I need to write a procedure, based on the results of the table EMP_STAGE table EMPLOYEE should as update.

    1. If the employee is still with the organization that the STATE is 'Active' in the EMP_STAGE table if he resigns or terminated its status should be 'inactive' and LAST_DAY (date format) of data used has also updated in the EMP_STAG table.

    2. during the loading of data into the EMP table based on the data of EMP_STAGE, in the employee table employee STATUS = "ACTIVE/INACTIVE" and end_date = LAST_DAY (from table EMP_STAGE) based on both the EMP_FLAG column updates as EMP_FLAG = (If employee was then 'YES' else 'NO');

Please give me your opinion on this.

Thanks for posting the sample data, I'm unable to reproduce your problem. As Hoek said, it is because of duplicates in your data. You can check the link above to understand the issue.

However, my illustration here is how to do it.

Suppose that the emp table has only a single folder, if a new employee is in EMP_STAGE table, his information should be added in the transactional table EMP.

    Under scenario

101 is the new employee, then inserted

100 is used existing, as well as its details are updated.
