To Win7 mSATA

I have some problems with passing Win7 Pro from my HD to my new mSATA.  I have an E520, 1143 FU3 (?), 500 gb hd, Win7 Pro.  I added an mSATA SSD 120 GB.

I first thought I would clone the drive to the new, but had trouble getting small enough space.  Then I thought I would do a factory installation, but can't seem to get that to work either.

First of all, I did the recovery discs when I came to the computer.  But I can't find a way to use the data on the disks.  They are not bootable.  So if I remove my old hard disk so I can install it again one, how do I start?  I did a boot of the Lenovo recovery disk, but it doesn't start at a command prompt, just in the program, which doesn't seem to be able to use my recovery disks, he wants something else.  How can I restore my computer to factory settings?  The recovery system doesn't let me make new disks, it says this can only be done once.

Also, I removed things from the hard drive then it will be good to clone to the new 120 GB drive.  I seem to be unable to get the drive must be less than 130 GB, even if I had removed almost everything except through the windows.  I was checking the size by looking at the properties of the drive in Windows.  Now, I noticed that if I check the properties of each element, the directories and files on the C:\, the total size is only about 60 GB.  Does this mean that I can clone the drive and the properties of the drive reports the space that is used incorrectly, or am I missing something?  Even with the 'q' (Lenovo_Recovery) added on, I would always be under my 111 Go to the new disk.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello

First of all, the recovery media that you made should boot and install the factory image - so something is broken here.

A few suggestions:

(guessing) You will not be able to shrink the partition C: any more because of some system files (perhaps of the hibernation file or page) that can not be moved while the operating system is running.  You could start a Linux Live CD or USB flash drive and a tool like gParted to shrink the partition further for cloning.

You could buy a recovery media factory support.

You can download the OS and do a clean install.  Activae using your existing key and the phone option.  Google «legal windows 7 download noteboot review»  Install ThinkVantage System Update and use it to pull down the drivers Lenovo and apps.

    Hello

It's really old machine any kind of info on the upgrade of the operating system or the HARD drive can be very useful.
So, your old machine can scale up to 2 GB of RAM and modules of compatible RAM that you can use are the following:
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

If possible, after a little on the OS. I want to say you found some drivers and use some tools specific to Toshiba and utilities.

    Bye and good luck

  • I need drivers to install Win7 64 bit on mSATA SSD

    Hello!

    I need drivers to install WIN7 x 64 on THNSNH256GMCT mSATA SSD

Serial number on my product is 23NS10BFTABY

    Thank you!

This serial number does not help much. It will be better if you can display the name of the exact model laptop and the model number.

Anyway, visit Toshiba support and download page for your country and if your laptop model is supported for Win7 64 bit, you should be able to find all of the necessary drivers, tools and utilities.

  • x 220 mSata SSD OCZ Nocti Win7 install fails

    Hello guys,.

Today, I installed a new Nocti of OCZ 60 GB SSD in my x 220 msata location. at the same time, I got a hitachi 320 GB 7200 RPM lenovo stock disc.

the ssd is perfectly recognized by the bios. I use version 1.22.

now, I want to install win7 on my ssd, which has already been installed on my hard drive.

I put my copy of win7 on a USB key, it starts, select windows install.

However, arriving at the screen "Select the driver to install.", I get an error thrown to me:

"A required CD/DVD drive decive driver is missing. If you have a driver disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. »

I have not driver on my hd/ssd and States of Web site of ocz which a) none is needed, and b) that none is provided.

I tried to install without having the hd attached, the same error.

Any of you guys have ideas on how to possibly solve the problem?

    See you soon!

for one, I have not use this ssd in a laptop.
    It's a terrible sandforce laptop.
You must use one of the intel ready models boot much better power profile.
more sandforce tell it different not good for the laptop.

    What is a clone?
you did, or a copy of win 7 with the windows 7 usb tool.

You must use a very important 4 GB model or bios does not have a usb of larger size.
    more little won't hold win7.
You must convert an iso, then make the USB bootable and had not accused the file system on the key.
I use a special wrench just to install win 7 only.

in the bios, you can select the USB as a boot first or 2nd order.
2nd, so you must press the start command menu to select a boot device.
you not on port 0 is your right to Board, you will need to select the first boot to usb in this menu.
Make sure also that in bios flat disk of port 0 is not stopped the ist and the msata is moved to the top online.

some easy ways could be pulling the 2.5 and then he select auto.
You must specify the pc what you're doing.
you don a thing out of use and who does not go to port 0 but a new port for the reader.

If you select usb in the bios the first order when you reboot your system with the installation it will reinstall in a loop that why tyou select not this first, but use the menu screen. F9 or something depoends on the pc manufacturer.
If you fall into a traction of the loop, the main cause of the image is already there so next restart windows by default to the disk image and complete the installation.

I know a lot of info here but win 7 can be easy to install or hard depending on if you have it down pat.
I did over 100 installs so I know everything inside and out and even I forgot to do something from time to time.

Check again it is a good image on the button who made the right size in the right way and he fully bootable (huge deal - bootable)).
Select the msata as the new boot ist or 2nd as rom is foirst for most.
    the old disk is 2nd.
PROMT you F to select the USB drive as the new boot device.
is nothing another pluged and do not use the combined port but I did lol he worked or sata port 3.

ALSO - it's a big deal make sure that usb get you is a start control device which means power immediately.
normally we lone usb on most laptops.
Some will not be powered until this that completely initialized, this means no power when first restart.
Commen problem on mobile phones when we have the beta version of windows on the USB.
Some phones only maintain a usb on the first step.

look at the light of thumb it will show if cela a port not starting.

  • Impossible to install Win7 on ENVY 15 t-j000

    I recently bought a HP ENVY 15 t QUAD - E4T17AV

It comes with Win8 and I honestly can't stand it. Trying to reinstall with Win7, I am unable to find discs to install to. I searched the devmgr win8 to get information about the SATA controller and chipset. I downloaded the drivers and when you attempt to add during the Win7 it found the drivers that are compatible with my system, but when I try to install I get the error ' no new devices not could be found.

I enabled legacy startup options, disabled secure boot, changed the boot order, all that good stuff.

I tried to install SATA drives both mSATA connected, that only have one or the other and receive the same error each time. I used several different drivers of HP and Intel, and all receive the same error.

I read the other messages from people who say that they install Win7 on their 15 t, it must be possible.

    What Miss me?

    Thank you.

Had the same problem... figured it out... it was not a Sata Contorller driver problem at all.

    1. turn off Secure Boot, active herit.

    2. turn the USB 3.0 BIOS to act as AUTO setting so that the operating system facilities to qualify ports USB 2.0 compatible

3 HD partition scheme had to be reset... don't know what it was.  Hooked to my Mac and under parition, set it to 1 Partition and chose the MBR as the partition table layout scheme.

Hope this helps, but still the problem with the graphics drivers from Nvidia and Intel Chipset drivers

  • B580 mSATA

Hello community, simply subscribe to the Forum.

    A week ago, I bought a laptop B580 with i-5, 1 TB, 4 GB and added 4 GB and a 60 GB mSATA.

It has been configured with Windows 8 and only a large partition to use. The other hidden parttitions belongs to Win8 and LENOVO.

First of all, I had to repartition the disk: using a SW to Win8 installation on an external backup drive (size was approx. 20 GB), with the same tool, I deleted the installation and set up the new partitions as my standards of House (4). Then I restored the Win 8 installation and did an upgrade for Win8 Prof. those were simpler tasks.

I had a lot of problems that I tried to install SW using the mSATA drive for acceleration, I spent almost two days to search for the appropriate drivers on the drivers LENOVO B580 and Win8 site, but none of the available drivers working not (h4iv07ww.exe).

Even the BIOS did not show the mSATA drive.

The function of the mSATA Fund, I removed the hard drive, installled Win8 Pro for the mSATA. He very quickly worked an expected. Setting back the hard drive of the laptop worked only with the 1 GB drive. Sometimes I could boot from the drive mSATA (F12), but this isn't what I love to do - it saves no time at the start!

Is there a LENOVO expert who could help? Lenovo support on phone was not able to help.

    Hello neokenchi,

as announced, I installed Win7 pro. After updating all the drivers all works well. It took appr. four hours, no more problems with eSATA and acceleration.

I also got rid of annoying Apps and more garbage LENOVO Add ons for Windows 8.

I could only give a hint to people having problems with Win8. The best you can do is to downgrade to Win7, but be careful, that Microsoft allows him only to Win8 pro!

  • I'm quite confused on the mSATA to Y480. Please help me, thanks!

I bought the new model to Y480, new model, I mean the one with i7 3630.

    There i7-3630, 8 G RAM, GT650M 2 G and 1 TB HDD 5400r.

I asked the customer service and they told me that the Y480 would be compatible with an mSATA SSD 32 GB.

However, I did a lot of reading of threads and found we're talking about as high as mSATA SSD 128 GB.

I am really confused about this.

I plan to but an mSATA until I received the Y480 and now I don't know that we chose: 32 GB, 64 GB, or even more?

Nobody knows with certainty on the compatible mSATA SSD to Y480?

I'm afraid that 32 GB are not enough for Win7.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi mmulad,

You just bought msata crucial 256 GB late last week and so far no problem. I got to bios or anything. just plug and play. so far, no problem.

    It will be useful.

  • HP Envy 17 t-3000 (CTO) WSSD Msata update

    Currently have a HP Envy 17 t - 3000 CTO.

Watching the Maint. & Repair and it lists a part for an msata WSSD.

Someone knows if my model Envy or product LW900AV will accept a WSSD msata in car?

If Yes, what is the maximum currently available as it shows 128G, but it is about ~ 2 years in the manual?

It's a cache instead of a player mSata drive?

I would put the OS Win7 on WSSD msata disc?

What is the advantage that I currently have a 750 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive?

I have a slot for additional HARD drive where I can add. a second HARD drive, soon.

I know I can add a SATA drive and then move the original HARD drive in the Bay as 2d storage disk.

So I wonder msata drive for the HP Envy 17 WSSD t-3000 just will act as a cache drive to start the system and function of General conduct faster?

    Thank you!

In fact, I wanted to point 24, pg 19 for mSata Drive.

It looks like she can accept up to 128 GB only.

After market research shows that it is still relatively expensive.

Don't bother buying one for one SSD drive is similar but provides more storage!

    Thank you!

  • 14-b017cl Sleekbook: the 120 GB msata ssd make bootable

Hi guys, I need your expertise!

I installed a m500 crucial SSD 120 GB in my slot msata for use as drive system (NOT in the disk cache!).

Before, I turned off acceleration of hard drive Intel Rapid Storage menu. I can see the SSD in the Explorer as a disk separate and clone my disk with Paragon partition migrate OS 4.0 SSD. However, in the BIOS (F.12) and in the startup options, the drive is not displayed. If I boot without the HARD drive no boot disk is found.

Is this a BIOS problem / a BIOS update can resolve it? If so, since there is only an update of Win8, an update with Win7 would be possible somehow?

I know that sleekbook material supports bootable SSD: I upgraded successfully a Sleekbook 14-b083eg to a 120 GB system msataSSD disk. (see CAT ID:48997789; Service Ticket number: 8066059670)
Thanks a lot for your help!

    SEB

It is specific to all HP laptops with the WSSD mSATA other than a couple of small business model for portable computers that use only hard drives WSSD. If you got the b083eg to boot from the WSSD with a disc present regular SATA just do whatever you did there once again and please post here because many people want to know how to do this.

  • mSATA and SSD problem

    Hey there,

    I use a HP Envy 17 3D 3000 with Win7 x 64 installed.

I have a Samsung 840 Pro SSD in my laptop since almost a year now with a 750 GB standard HARD drive and running Win7 build in HP, when I bought it. It works like charm and is nice and fast!

Yesterday, I bought a new mSATA (Samsung 840EVO mSATA, also 120 GB). But after I installed it, when starting my laptop, only the new SSD will be recognized in the BIOS eighter and later (I installed Win7 on it as well) he didn't show the mSATA and HARD drive, the old SSD.

How is that possible? I have tried both: install with mSATA SSD connected and also mSATA connected, out SSD and SSD in later once again - two results in without success.

    Where can I go wrong?

If I put the mSATA once again, my old SSD boots, so I put the mSATA in again once he starts there as default and SSD is completely ignored as if does not exist.

Thank you very much for your help in advance,

    vinc

.. .Although it seems a little strange! I left the mSATA again in a few days and used as normal and all of a sudden the laptop has recognized the other SSD as well, so now I could for a dual boot of mSATA SSD as I wanted.

Maybe someone can say for others who might encounter the same problem, why it's like this product?

  • mSATA for x 220-questions

I've read many threads on this topic, but given my level of understanding, I'm still not sure what and how to approach adding a mSATA. I have a x 220/i7/8 gb/128 GB SSD WIN7 running. I'm running out of space and I would like to add a second drive in the mSATA slot to be used for the additional data space. I'll keep the VICTORY on the original drive.

I'm looking at this Intel 525 series drive Lincoln Crest SSDMCEAC120B301 mSATA 120 GB SATA III MLC internal Solid State Drive (SSD).  Here are my questions:

    1. is it allowed to install the SATA III on the slot which is only SATA II?

    2. I saw a video on youtube showing how to install such a unit, and it seems at hand. But what do I do once I install it? The system will recognize? If this is not the case, what exactly what I need to do? How to pass the firmware for this new drive?

    3. any other thing I have to do?

Thanks in advance and apologize me for the duplication of certain issues.

Thanks for the detailed response. I think you've covered everything, and I'm more comfortable now with the procedure with the 'project '.  One last question: the particular drive mentioned in my post will fit in the 220 x?

  • Ultrabook 4 t-1200 Win7 x 64 Power Mgmt

    Hello

I have a Ultrabook 4 t-1200 and I downloaded all the drivers available from the site of HP to Win7 x 64.  I've demoted because Win8 keeps wiping my boot partition after a few days give me 3FO error because I can't do ACHI mode.  MY current setup is mSATA Plextor M5M 128 GB as primary and SATA Crucial M4 256 GB as secondary.  However with Win7, I do not run into this problem.

However, I still have no function 'Sleep' (impossible to activate even in the power settings in Control Panel) and my brightness function keys do not work (even with HP Quicktools installed).

"Is there a special driver I need to download to activate"Sleep"and brightness" currently, my laptop is 100% brightness.

    Thank you!

    -Randy

    I found the solution.

I installed the HP drivers for the graphics card and works perfectly now.

  • X 220 mSATA recovery disc install hangup...

Hey all. First off - I am ZIM Black Crow, this is my first time on the boards of Lenovo, because before tonight, I had never owned a Lenovo. But I must say that this community seems incredibly impressive in every way and you guys have been a MAJOR asset to decide what laptop to buy and how, well, best.

I am the proud mother of a X 220 new-to-me, factory refurbished with an i7 2.7 Ghz, 320 GB 7200 RPM HDD, 6 GB RAM (now 16 GB of RAM, because Yes), IPS, the works display. Even came with an unexpected bonus to the webcam, fingerprint reader AND the dock (no for which Lenovo is mentioned in the list... sweeeeeet). So, being a handyman, I swapped to 16 GB of RAM (started very well, win7 it recognized), made the recovery discs, out the HARD drive, installed an mSATA Nocti OCZ 120 GB drive, started the system. The BIOS recognizes the drive but, since then, it's a new drive, no OS. Dropped the recovery disk bootable in the DVD drive of the oh-so-handy dock, product ThinkVantage recovery starts right. Asked me for the first data disk, which I happily obliged with, and it is now

... sitting. Laugh at me. In silent mode.

Specifically, he seems stuck on "current progress: prepare the hard drive" (caps/nocaps Lenovo, not me). It has been sitting like that for 40 minutes. No flashing lights, no progress on the progress bar, no change at all to tell me if it works (and since it's a SSD without spin player to listen to). The only reason why I haven't restarted and tried again is that the Trackpoint function still works, so I know that he has not yet locked.

But the kuestion (excuse typos typing certain keys are torn on this laptop - where the replacement), it's how long let this sit in this way? I don't know if he does something. It is 4-15 AM and I'm afraid that if I go to bed he will magically move forward and ask for things, like the next disc. If I sit here, it will never do anything, but to make fun of my conscience.

It seems that people are generally in success with X220s and mSATA readers... What am I doing wrong here?

Thank you and you're seriously awesome and I would not even be this far without you.

    ~ MizBlackCrow

.. .then OMFG I am a fool. Not two minutes after the announcement of this kuestion (keyboard problems, no W-but-left-one key), I've solved my own stupid, stupid problem.

What happened - I had put a popup asking for the 1st disk of data. I held. I've heard the spin of DVD player when I put the popup went without me by clicking on the OK"" button. Because, with the sensitive touchpad, I clicked on the largest window of recovery of product. That hide the popup. Who has dropped out of my progress.

I discovered this by "tests to ensure that the trackpoint worked" by moving the window of recovery of product autour, discovering the shortcut menu, and then click OK. The recovery is going smoothly. * HEADDESK *.

This is why I shouldn't be allowed to operate on any computer at 4 in the morning...

  • XPS 8700 - new mSata does not start unless...

I had my 8700 for a little more than a year and from the beginning, I put a 256 gb 2.5 SSD and everything has been good... unfortunately I ran out of room so I'm a 512 GB mSata and installed with the normal hiccups (bios setting, etc.) and for the most part, it works fine... installed win7 - all my programs games, media and all that. Well, now that I have everything there I was trying to format the original 1 TB hdd which served the initial boot (later converted to my games drive) drive and it refuses to format 'windows cannot format the system disk partition' I went into the BIOS and noticed his 1st listed in the order of the boot sequence. OK... so I put the mSata as first on the boot sequence and people with other disabilities 2 boot sequence HARD drives... Unfortunately, after that it does not start, say no boot device available. I tried other settings and the only way I can get my OS to load is if I put it on AHCI - legacy - then set my empty 1 TB (manually remove games) under the 1st boot device and set my msata #2. I want to use the 1 TB in a different computer and I want all my available bays opened for larger storage players when I need... but most of all I want to solve it because he needs to solve... Someone has an idea what I am doing wrong? any help is appreciated.

    XPS 8700

    I7-4770

    BIOS A10

    M550 crucial mSata

OS was initially earn 8.1... I upgraded to win 7 home

The boot sequence is dynamic, so it does not matter if change you it in the bios. Each listed item will be sought for the boot files according to what is currently installed. Because your startup files are not on the ssd, it will never start to this player. Windows must be installed on the ssd from scratch, so you lose everything and have to reinstall everything. If you have now works well, leave it alone and save yourself a lot of trouble. Startup files are still on the original drive.
