Pretty simple command:

Any ideas on why I get this error? The Mac address appears to be in the appropriate range.

The specified MAC address 00:50:56:a1:00:00 is not in the range valid 00:50:56:00:00:00 - 00:50:56:3F:FF:FF. In the specified MAC address 'a' should be 0-3.

  • Problems with the MAC address duplicate when creating new jobs virtual

We use the MAC addresses of vWorkspace management. This means that we have the option set as an attachment with the basic MAC address pic01. This has worked well so far. We now extend our VDI environment with the new Virtual Machines in a new group. But now, we got the question if we create a new desktop computers, the broker for connections will distribute double MAC addresses (see the pic02 attachment). And as you know it will end in a messy DHCP and TCP/IP. Even if we put the basic MAC address to a new range, the broker for connections always distributes the old MAC address range. We restart the broker for connections rather than on the time and the problem is still the same!

Does anyone have ideas or solutions to this problem?

    Hello

Address management Mac is for groups of clouds. With groups of clouds, the machines get deleted/re-created very often so we need mac address management to allow the mac address be reused after a certain period of time.

With traditional groups, the machines are kept for long periods of time if you don't use mac addresses that you will get the number you have described management.

    Thank you, Andrew.

  • ESX uses network adapter with the mac address that is different than virtual connect reports

    Hi all

Our ESX environment consists of HP C7000 enclosure, virtual connect 1 gb ethernet with a mixture of BL480c and BL460c. We just bought some new BL460c G7 with NIC NC553i to replace some of the oldest BL480c. We have configured Virtual Connect to assign mac addresses. In vc management consoleI see the addresses assigned to the server, but when I start the server displays a different mac address for nic #2 that vc does. NIC #1 has the same mac address of console management vc and in the server BIOS. When I install ESX also sees the 'wrong' for #2 nic mac address. According to vmware nic #2 has not any network connected to what should be if it was really nic #2 (according to the vc management console).

When I look at the mac addresses in the BIOS none of the network interface card have the mac address assigned by vc. VC firmware is 3.01. I have attached the photos I see information in the management of VC and BIOS console. Someone at - it for clues to what is happening and how can I solve it? Thanks in advance.

Note:   The ESX host uses following addresses starting with 00:50:56 (as opposed to the address embedded in the interface itself).

To determine the MAC address of the interface Board of the ESX host, run the command:
    # ifconfig | grep-i hw
    The output looks like:
    vswif0 Link encap HWaddr 00:50:56:41:5 A: 59
The MAC address is in the first line after HWaddr.  In this example, the MAC address is 00:50:56:41:5 has: 59.

Note:   The ESX host uses following addresses starting with 00:50:56 (as opposed to the address embedded in the interface itself).

  • VMware device with 2 network cards claiming the same IP address with two MAC addresses

    Hello.

I see messages intermittent my gateway network two MAC addresses associated with a virtual machine running on a 5.5 ESXi host for the same IP address.

The virtual machine is a MiTel 3300 controller for a VOIP system. the system is configured with two IP addresses, one on the local network and another with a public IP address in the DMZ. In the network configuration of the 3300, I assigned the address LAN IP at 00: 0C: 29:30:B2:B2 and the DMZ IP at 00: 0C: 29:30:B2:BC (Mac for network devices presented by the ESXi host virtual machine).

On the host, I configured a vSwitch with exclusive access to two physical network adapters on the host machine. The vSwitch is configured with two machine virtual port groups, LAN and DMZ, with access to the physical network interface cards. Tab grouping of groups vSwitch port NIC, I replaced the order of failover of the switch to activate an active NETWORK card only for the Group of LAN ports and the other card NETWORK only for the DMZ port group. (I don't know how the content of the column of networks is determined. Neither is correct for the traffic on the physical switch. If these are configurable, please advise and I'll change the settings). The relevant parameters of vSwitch, groups of ports and VM are distinguished below.

On the virtual machine itself, through the VMWare host, I assigned 00: 0C: 29:30:B2:B2 for the Group of LAN ports and 00: 0C: 29:30:B2:BC to the DMZ group port (best I can tell, anyway, since the MAC address field annoyingly obscures the last two digits of the MAC address - break if I invert the mapping) (, but all seems OK).

The goal here is to make sure that MACs of ports vSwitch the 3300 is listening and sending always correspond to the physical ports that are VLAN Tag by the physical switch to ensure the routing. Generally speaking, it seems that what is happening but, intermittently, we cross one-way calls that suggests a problem of routing between us and our SIP trunk provider; coinciding with these incidents, I get an email along the lines of "the security in the network device has detected a conflict of IP address with two or more devices. The period of INVESTIGATION "DMZ. DMZ. DMZ. DMZ' is claimed by the following clients with MAC addresses: ' 00: 0C: 29:30:B2:B2' ' 00: 0C: 29:30:B2:BC'. »

I did something in the configuration that would lead to this kind of collision intermittent? Have a hacked together a way to do something that could be accomplished in a way that is simpler and more reliable?

Thanks for any idea that you can offer.

    Kind regards

    J.

I probably don't fully understand your configuration, but it seems that you are not interested in using the collection of NETWORK adapters in the virtual switch of the VM MiTel 3300.

If it is correct, why not create two virtual switches, each with a group of port (LAN and DMZ) unique and with a separate connection of (vmnic2 and vmnic1)?

In general, collection of NETWORK adapters may be used to share traffic between uplinks and ensure that if one of the uplinks connect fails, a virtual machine still has access to the network.

  • Analyze the Mac address with the regular expression matching

    Hello world

I have a problem with the function of regular expression matching,

I try to analyse the response both a query arp - a 192.168.0.15 to retrieve the MAC address of the remote IP address, I used the following regular expression: ^ ([0-9a-fA-F]{2}[:-]){5}([0-9a-fA-F]{2})$

I wonder why should I do a subset of the first string to extract only the part of the MAC address. The regular Expression function is not able to recognize the regular expression directly in the middle of a string?

I only works when I extracted the subset of tring right as in the picture below.

    Thanks for your replies.

Get rid of the "^" at the beginning of your regular expression. You are ordering him to find the model at the beginning of the string.

After the coup of controller.conf and the screen of the dialog editor repository that you set, your master repository was not configured this way:

ReposPath has the value "C:\Inetpub\Ftproot\HPDM" in controller.conf (assume C:\Inetpub\Ftproot is the root directory of the FTP server)

In the Master repository Editor dialog box:

Implement FTP path to ftp: / //HPDM - he WS ftp: / /<>/. your screenshot.

This is the reason that all of your linked FTP task failed with the same error code.

    Hello

Yes, the MAC address is present in every system that connects to the Internet and runs any version of Windows.

MAC address stands for Media Access Control (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to the network interfaces for communications on the physical network segment.

To find the MAC address on Windows XP computer try the steps below.

    (a) click the start menu button in the Windows taskbar.

    (b) click 'run... '. "in this menu.

    (c) type "cmd" in the text box that appears. A command prompt window launches on the desktop.

    (d) in the command window, type ' ipconfig/all'. The details are displayed for each of the network adapters on the computer. Computers installed with the software VPN or software emulation will have one or more virtual cards.

    (e) the "IP address" field contains the IP address of the network card.

    (f) the 'physical address' field contains the MAC address of the card.
