Toolbars missing in windows Explorer

Hello
When I right click on the Start button and select Explorer, I get a window of the Explorer, but there is no toolbar.
I tried to do a right click on the top bar (no it's not really a toolbar) but there is no answer.
Any ideas on how to get back them.
Mike

Hello
I resolved myself.
There is a link to a script in corner http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Kelly put a search in toolbars and you will find it.
I downloaded the script and clicked on it and bingo there was missing toolbars.
Thanks for the views. Mike

The problem: the optical drive [cd/dvd burner] icon is missing in Windows Explorer when no media inserted in the drive. Even if the optical drive icon in Windows Explorer when a disc is inserted in the drive.

However, the optical drive appears in 'Device Manager' and in 'Computer' folder or no media is inserted in the reader as to the latter.  This doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.  It is a Windows 7 problem [or character?], which seems to be set [or omitted] in Windows 8.

Here are the step by step process to solve this problem:

    1. open Windows Explorer [click on "Start" and type "Windows Explorer" in the search box, then click on the first result to the Summit, which is "Windows Explorer"]
    2. in Windows Explorer, click on "Organize" (top left of the window).
    3. in the click from the drop-down list 'folder and search options '.
    4. at the bottom of the window that comes up, under the "Navigation" tick to choose 'show all files '.

  • e250v2 Playlist file missing in Windows Explorer

I didn't exaclty know how it happened. I enjoyed my e250v2 much. I create playlists on WMP 11.0.5721.5260 and sync them with my sansa and everything works fine.

Suddenly, the drive letter has changed, and the small logo of device Sansa is missing when I use Windows Explorer to access files on my Sansa. The file seems / is different. There is no playlist file at all. However, when you use the camera itself, there is a playlist in the playlist file. I have manually all the music files from the sansa itself, but a "playlist" of delelted is always in the "playlist" folder which is always there.

Also, when I sync a new reading list for the sansa now, the music files are present in the folder "music", but there is no "reading list" in the playlist folder (other than the above mentioned empty playlist.

    Help, please!

According to my sansa, I have the V03.01.16A version.

    Thank you.

What USB setting you normally use? If your drive is on Auto Detect, it means he was able to connect in the MTP or MSC mode. If it is passed it could account for the different 'look'.

Try to switch between the 2 modes and see if things return to normal.

Better manually the value to be one or the other and say - considers the parameter "default".

  • Details of music file missing in Windows Explorer

Hi, I had my files of music for a long time, nothing has changed and I have something different in terms of music players.

The details of my music (artist, song etc.) files disappeared in Windows Explorer, but they appear in Winamp.
I am also unable to change file details. They are all for most .mp3 files

When you open windows Explorer, check the option views and assign details so you should be able to see the file name, size, type, artist, Album title, year, track number and duration.
You can open the player windows media, go to the library and check if you can change each file that are listed there.

  • Thumbnails are missing in Windows Explorer

I can't see the thumbnails in Windows Explorer, I could see what had XP, no pictures at all, only when I click to open them, can, in my view, they are.  Also in my graphics software when it is open for photos, don't see them, as the background on all the jpg, different ones for gif etc.  In other words the jpg or gif icons, extended thumbnails etc.  Any ideas how to recover photos?  Thank you in advance.

Sorry, just saw a similar problem, it settled now, who said the following:

Response has been: in the Folder Options: open the view tab and make sure that "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is NOT checked.     This he settled, can now see my photos.

As noted above, found the answer on another question. Sorry for opening this, should look further into before.

  • The search box is missing in Windows Explorer and the search is not available from the Start button on the desktop

I want to search my hard drive for a file.

I open explore and there is no search box, or all the options to search.

I click Start.  There is no box that allows me to type in the name, I'm looking for.

Any suggestions on what setting or service may be disabled or stopped which disables the search options?

Hi jhblzk.  The name of the service is Windows Search, but even if it has been disabled, you should always see the box "search programs and files".  No harm to check though.  Press the Windows key and r on your keyboard and type:

    services.msc

and click OK.  Scroll down the page until you find and make sure that the startup type is set to automatic (delayed start) and the service status is started.  If this is not the case, click on start and OK your change.

If the service does not exist, go to programs and features in Control Panel and click on "turn Windows features turn on or off.  Scroll down and check Windows Search.  OK, your changes and restart.  The search box appears when you click Start now?

  • Windows Explorer toolbar is missing

The toolbar of Windows Explorer is missing. It is a problem of blocking for me. I will come back to the computer and request a refund or request XP if it cannot be repaired.

I was able to install a legacy program that serves every day. ITS toolbar is also absent.

I have dozens of legacy programs that are not "compatible". I appreciate these applications much more highly than an interface continuously chinless with transparent borders. It is a blocking problem. . I will come back to the computer and request a refund or request XP if it cannot be repaired.

My eyes are sensitive to light. The first thing I do when I buy a new Windows machine is to set the background to gray File Explorer. I can't do it, even in the "Standard" view

It is a problem of blocking for me. I will come back to the computer and request a refund or request XP if it cannot be repaired.

These things can be fixed? I could live with the 100's of other embarrassment of this UI, but not these elements.

Display the Menu bar in Windows Explorer - very easy to fix 1. Click the Start button, type folder options and click on the link 'Options folders' that appears.

    2. when several tabs 'Folder Options' dialog box is displayed, click the "View" tab

    3. under "Advanced settings", check always 'display menu '.

    4. click 'OK' to close the dialog box.

If you have Windows 7 Professional or ultimate, you can download and run the XP Mode to install your legacy programs.

  • 'Remove' toolbar icon removed from Windows Explorer

    De : Catherine

I see that the deletion icon has been removed from the toolbar of windows Explorer.  Number of questions:

    1. How can I get it back?

    2. why it was deleted?  (what are the requirements user gathered?)

    3. a series of questions asked (see "Icons of the toolbar") on this same issue, but none of them responded by someone from Microsoft MVP (or similar).  Why is this?

    De : Andrew McLaren

Here's the right questions, I can't wait to see the answers.

My 2 cents... the toolbar in the Vista Explorer is not configurable. Soon, this was discovered by developers keen to add buttons for their own applications. You can add a 3rd party application "command bar" to explore; but you cannot change the toolbar provided by Windows.

As to why, I have no idea. I think (and this is only a guess) the Shell team tried for an experience user easier and more orthogonal; where there are fewer controls and a tendency to the only way to get something done. If you want to manipulate an object, such as a file, you select and right click on the object itself, then choose your action from the context menu. While there are more controls toolbar in Vista to manipulate the whole environment (Organization, views), rather than the individual objects in this environment. But then they went and he screwed up by adding the Open, Email, etc. to the toolbar when a file is selected. Why open a file, but not to delete? I do not know. Maybe the pressure during the beta user, diluted the original, clean, pragmatic design often determine theoretical purity in the design of Microsoft (not always a good thing, or the other).

Personally, I think that the new Explorer is messy, and needs a great usability of revision. But despite this, he is reasonably usable, today - better than Nautilus in Gnome!

As for MVP you reply... know that MVPs are quite ordinary people, hanging out in their free time. They have absolutely no formal obligation to Microsoft, or anyone else, to answer the questions at all. And in any case they are official voice for Microsoft (I speak as a MVP myself - but not in the Vista product specialty). They have jobs full-time that is clean, and they are not paid for answering questions in the forums. And microsoft.public.windows.vista.general is a busy group, so it is difficult to follow. The more interesting question is: why are there so few employees of Microsoft and, in particular, program managers, taking part in discussions to explain the design decisions?

Anyway, you can use the Community mechanism to make suggestions to Microsoft, as described here:

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/library/gallery/components/Wn/3/locales/help/help_en-us.htm#GiveMSFeedback

'Suggestions for Microsoft' are enabled in microsoft.public.windows.vista.general, if you are using the web interface:

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx

While it would be nice if the internal Microsoft people are more come with information about design decisions, there are at least a few blogs with dirty laundry has revealed. For the shell, there are:

    http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsexperience/default.aspx

    and

    http://shellrevealed.com/

If you dig deep enough you might find some background info here. There are also a few forums focused on the shell, which may give better answers.

    It will be useful,

  • Where is the "log" in the toolbar of the burner? Also when I follow the directions to close the disk - where is 'windows explorer' I can't?

When I click Start then computer and burner - where is windows Explorer, and where can I find her close a session on the toolbar?

    Hello geehosafat,

Thank you for your response. The relay please if you are able to open Windows Media Player by clicking Start, and then by typing in the search box to start Windows Media Player. Then click on Windows Media Player based on the results of the search.

In addition, when burning files to disc, if the disk has been formatted using the Format mastered, the option to close a session will not appear as disks formatted with the mastered Format do not need to be closed and automatically compatible with other computers. If the disk has been formatted with the live file system, you can close a session to be able to use the disc in another computer or player. By default, Windows does automatically when you eject the disc.

Steps to burn files using Windows Explorer by using the live file system and mastered Format includes also, for reference, the link provided above burn a CD or DVD in Windows Explorer .

  • Missing vertical lines in Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer is missing vertical lines in the folder tree. These lines are to distinguish records expanded on the other. We currently hold a sheet of paper to the screen to see where the files line up. Vista and XP have this site but we can't seem to find where to activate in 7. In addition, during the not overview not the navigation panel arrows indicating which files are extensible disappear. This is much more tedious and prone to error when searching for records that contain additional folders. Since we are developers (and even non-developers) but works with files consistently, it is a huge annoyance and decrease our productivity so that we need to downgrade to XP or find an alternative.

XP is perhaps what best suits you. If the Explorer is your tool of choice for managing data, 7 won't (do the lines of navigation for folders). If I were still in development, I would like to use a my SQL Server query to define data sets, but if the Explorer is your tool of choice, there is nothing wrong with the help of XP. If you have hardware for virtualization, you can install 'XP Mode' and stay with the very easy to use 7 for everything else.

  • Missing Windows Explorer icon

I have been happily using Windows 7 on this laptop for a couple of years.  I now rely on the study of the records and files (several years of IP gold accumulated in thar files) using Windows Explorer.  I also use the taskbar to pin program icons and quick start or switch windows.  About three weeks ago, I lost the browser icon in the taskbar if went to programes, accessories for re pin icon.  No entry program to explore in the folder! Weird.  So I click with the right button on the icon start and gave the "start Windows Explorer" option under the option "Properties".  Clicked on it.  Everything started off very well.  More strange!  The program works well, but there is no mention of the program on the computer and no icon.  When the program runs a degenerated icon Explorer appears and when I right click on it, it announces itself as "network photo capture centre" is not Windows Explorer.   If I pin it to the taskbar it opens a window of the Explorer, but the path of the file in the open window is ftp://BRW0022585483D2/.  I tried to restore using a restore point to solve the problem and that did not work.

Any ideas how I can recover the missing icon?  Please notify.  The laptop is a Dell Latitude e4310 with an i 7 processor 64gig of RAM and an SSD hard drive.  Installing Windows 7 OEM supplied with the laptop is Windows 7 Professional installed SP1.

  • Windows explore collapsers/expanders missing directory, elements faded

    Hello

When I recently rebuilt my computer Windows XP,

Windows Explorer displays the directories differently in partitions nonsystem remaining versions compared to the new system partition.

    the spirit,
    (1) expanders/collapsers lacked elements of directory in the right panel, and
    (2) all items have disappeared in the right panel.

Apart from that, Windows Explorer accesses these items in same directory.

by comparing directories security settings in a non system partition of directories in the system partition, I don't see anything that would cause this behavior.

    configuration:
    Windows XP Professional sp3
    Pentium Dual-Core e5400 2.70 GHz
    3.24 GB of ram

I discovered that faded are items that the value of the hidden attribute and directories without collapsers/expanders are the value of the hidden attribute.
