Toshiba 1 TB portable HDD USB 3.0 Stor.E questions

Hi all

Bought a Toshiba Stor.E partner 1 TB external HDD USB 3.0 for my wife for the advent of ebay. Use it on an Optiplex GX620 under Windows XP (SP3) via a USB 2.0 port that I bought it and in the future will be able to make use of USB 3.0

I tried to format the HARD disk of 1 TB straight on the box and it took forever to get to the stage 13% (20 min) = when he started just turn off and on, immediately... it's 5 times until I cancelled the format and once I did he remained for about 4-5 minutes before it is rotated to the bottom of his...

So I did a quick format, which went well with no stop downs which took about 1-2 minutes of dishes...

So I put a 1 GB on it .avi file to see how it will play and it went well until what 5 minutes in the video when I noticed a sudden break of the video for a milli second or 2 - enough to be frustrating. Then I heard the car apparently closed (a snoring and a stop of the head... apparently, although the file was still play)-even if I heard the spin in the car down and maybe stop he kept playing the file, but a break of milli seconds every 2-3 seconds of reading file - it would be the nspin upward once again and after 3-4 minutes turning down strong enough... (no sanding, etc. or click, just a loud snoring with a sort of stop the sound)

The file plays fine out of the Office for 30 minutes, so forget the system - the same file plays very well from my Maxtor external drive on the same USB port.

Tried the 1 TB of HDD on my Panasonic TH - L42ET5A LED LCD TV and played previews apparently ok but I could hear a beep from the command every 3-4 seconds... and it didn't sound right and seemed to be all of a sudden stop and restart...

The fact, that it cannot format wihtout shutting down/restarting and can not play a video file without a break every 2-3 seconds means that it wont be good enough for me...

Note: on the same USB 2.0 port I use all my other USB drives work = very well no problem...

Is - this disc a lemon?

I hear that after July 2012, Toshiba has changed the firmware or the Commission on these discs of style and others in this forum have similar problems with stop/stop suddenly the rotation disc = however, this one is set up I think that's not a good set upwards.

I'm not quite sure of the issue described, but strange noises from a HARD m disc would be a sign of failure of the HARD drive
On the other hand, the HARD drive is a HARD drive 3.0 and it must 900mA on the bus power.
The USB 2.0 port allows only to 500mA.

I m not very well if this may be the reason here, but you should try to use the HDD with USB 3.0 or to a hub USB extended in the contrary case, it may be a HARD drive problem.

    Hello

To my knowledge the Toshiba 3.5 "3 TB USB 3 to HARD drive supports the file format NTFS (for the support of the Windows system).

I guess you must re - format the HARD drive to the system of files HFS + for Mac compatibility

    Hello

You have software of Regen with your HARD drive? I don't know if this can help, but check the Toshiba download page and you'll find a version for Windows XP Home edition. Maybe this will help.

  • USB HDD as a data store and storage of VMS and new virtual machines

I have a server Esxi 4.1 with 1 TB RAID 5 storage and 3 virtual machines. The storage is full and no space for another HARD disk, so my question is: would it be possible to use a USB HDD as a data store and could be included as a storage for new virtual machines or the VM? If so, could someone let me know how to do it because I'm not able to detect the HARD disk on the host itself.

No, it is not possible to use a USB drive as a data store.

  • Toshiba STOR. E ALU2 2.5 HDD USB 2.0 not working

    Hello.

I bought a Toshiba external hard drive, and the problem is that when I connect the disk to the PC, it recognizes, but do not open any window in the computer, and do not show the hard drive.

If I go to "Devices and printers" I can see my HDD - '' store' HARD drive, but when I connect him show me anything in "My Computer".

I use WIndows 7, I already check the other cables and is the same.

    Thanks for the attention.

    Hello

Have you tried different USB ports?
Usually a Virtual CD software is available on the HARD disk.
If you connect the portable computer HARD drive, a virtual disk should appear in MY computer.
Click on this disc should open the HARD disk.

You can also try to remove / delete virtual CD / score available on this USB HDD and it could test again.

  • Cannot copy the file 6.89 on Toshiba 250 GB HDD USB external

    Hello

First, you should check the properties of the HARD drive. You can also do in under Computer Management disk management.
Should there have listed everything on the external HARD drive.
You could further format the disk with NTFS and check if it of possible to copy this file again.

  • Toshiba DT01ACA 3 TB HDD - How can I check the status of the HARD drive?

    Mediocre and slow HARD drive.

Maybe there's a proprietary software for Toshiba HDD?
    I have Windows 7 x 64.

I want to test yourself. If the HARD drive is not working properly, then take the warranty service.

    Thank you for your help.

I think you might need to install some sort of 3rd party software.
For example the tool as + CrystalDiskInfo + it s HARD/SSD drive utility software that takes over a part of the connection USB and Intel RAID.

  • Canvio portable HDD driver won't install

    Hello

I hope someone is able to help me.

I try to use a portable hard drive Toshiba (HDTB110AK3BA) on a laptop computer of other manufacturer that has a Windows 7 operating system.

However, I keep just said that the device driver has not been installed properly and that is why the unit will not operate.

I tried searching online for drivers to download for this device, but have had no luck finding anything.

Is someone can you please tell me where I might be able to download the drivers, or a way I can get the drivers installed correctly the unit?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You're talking about on this external HARD drive:
    http://www.Toshiba-multimedia.com/EU/store-external-hard-drives/Canvio/

This external HARD drive is a device to plug ' n play. This means that no special drivers are required.

But the HARD disk supports the USB 3.0 standard. This means that a USB 3.0 provide 900mA. A standard USB 2.0 provide 500mA so if your computer supports only supported USB 2.0, you must connect the drive HARD 2 ports USB 2.0 to ensure that enough power would be provided.

  • Creating a recovery on an external HDD USB disk

So I just bought my new HP pavilion dv6 laptop computer 6023tx and I need to create my partition HP recovery disc.

If theres a whole article here showing how do using a usb flash drive or USB key, I was just wondering if its possible to do using an external usb HARD drive, I have not so why wouldn't... creating a new 16gigs of score big and everything which makes it?

    Article: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01890478

It costs $30 for a 16gig USB that is the size recommended but its only $50 for a portable 2.5 inch 500gig HDD, I just can't justify the purchase of thumb drive at these prices.

    Many thanks for any help.

Well done to the dvd, should be all good.

  • Question of Toshiba AT10-r: charging: mini-usb connector port is broken

My tablet to-10A is plu 1 year bit (expired warranty then). It will no longer charge. I have already answered a few messages in the forum that indicated similar problems. Let me continue on another where I can give you a few other updates.

There is no need to do the "factory reset" procedure because it is a hardware issue. (I have done, but as no change provided).

I opened my Tablet and tested with a multimeter. It seems that the mini-usb port is broken (see the attachment, the 5v PIN is not in good shape), basically I don't have 5 volts there. Precisely the mini-usb port is part of a small circuit hannstar e89382 arc10L_usb_sub. That's what it should be changed. I tried to get him, but I can't find one.

    Toshiba allow this component?

Any other idea of the people in the forum? I saw a new mini-usb port of welding, but it won't be easy, at least not for me.

    Best regards
    Luca

    Luca,

The EU standard warranty is 2 years, but in your case I don't know how the USB port is broken. Toshiba will have to fix if it proves to be a part of the defective material. Give it a try.

  • Problem with Toshiba E.Steel HD 500GB USB 3.0

Hello guys, yesterday I bought a Toshiba HD 500 GB USB 3.0 e.Steel but I have a problem, if I connect the HARD drive to the USB 2.0 to my laptop hard drive works perfectly, but if I connect to the laptop on the USB 3.0 detects the hard drive (sometimes) and it only works for a few minutes , but if I copy files from drive is disconnected almost immediately... you think it's a problem with the HARD drive or the laptop?

    I have a laptop qosmio x 770 with a one month old
USB 3.0 port works perfectly with any other USB 2.0 device
    I have the latest driver
    I have windows 7 64 bit

    > I have the latest driver
    > I have windows 7 64 bit
The latest driver do you mean exactly?
Are you using the original preinstalled Win7 you have with your laptop (factory settings)?

    Hello

I guess this is a feature of Toshiba. I saw something similar on the 500 GB 3.5 HDD.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to remove this software from the external HARD drive.
But I m not 100% sure how it works on the 2.5 HARD disk.
Have you tried to format this HARD drive?

However, check HARD drive manual which comes optionally with this part. There may be additional information

  • 3.5 "HDD USB disk (Stor.e. alu2) does not not on Macbook?

    Hello

I just bought the external hard drive and it doesn't seem to work with my macbook. It recognizes the external hard drive, but I'm not able to put all the files on it. It gives me a message "xx point can be moved because the 'place of target' is not editable.

Someone at - he had an idea of what I can do? Answers appreciated.

    Hello

As far as I know the USB HDD store contains a tool that is compatible with the Windows operating system. Maybe the software can't MacOS.

Maybe you can disable this by using a Windows operating system:
Connect your HARD drive to the Windows (Win XP, VISTA or Win7 PC)
Select the CD drive with your browser (password)
    Run the ONSPCLCK.exe
    Select 'Options '.
    Select "Disable security password"
Enter your password for current or don t set passwords
    Unplug the HARD drive
    Connect the HDD for Mac

    Maybe it would work...
