  How is formatted the external hard drive? Is the file system on the drive Mac OS extended (journaled) or other system files?  Is the drive directly connected by USB or similar, or is it a SIN?

  This problem may be caused by one of the following:

  (a) your player does not have a drive letter assigned in disk management

  (b) the drive may be disabled or offline

  (c) your USB driver is maybe corrupted

  I can't get a TB Seagate Backup Plus 2 player to mount on my Macbook Pro 2011. When I plug it into the USB port, disk utility detects it. I ran check disk and it said the necessary repair disk.   Most likely your Seagate drivers are not updated.

  NTFS is most likely the culprit here.

  The USB port on the HARD drive may have been damaged and may be causing the PC detect a short power.

  You can try another USB cable? If it is not the cable, then the HARD drive should be sent to a Service Center for repair or replacement.
