Toshiba Tecra A2 function keys active to make H = 6 h F = 4f P = space, etc.

I want to disable the function keys on this laptop, but I don't know how. I mean ive tried to delete all toshiba programs off the pc and does not work. Tried to get into the bios but have no idea what key bios is, ive tried all the default, but only brings me a start menu.

Anyway can someone let me know how to activate function keys would be much appreciated.

Hello

To be honest I do not understand why you want to disable FN keys. For me, it is quite handy and makes use of the laptop more comfortable. In all cases solution given by Akuma is good and easy for you.

BIOS has nothing to with it, but to enter the BIOS settings on this notebook Tecra press the ESC key at startup to the top.

    Hello

I think I can help you mate.
If you are using Win XP then you will need to reinstall the common Module.
Common modules are an important and necessary tool for FN keys.

Please go to the page of the European driver Toshiba, download the Module common 6.06.01 for Win Xp and install it again.
Restart the device and check if it helped.

  • Satellite P50 - Hotkeys / - function keys - Toshiba System Settings/keyboard

    I just received a P50 A 144 Satellite with Windows 8.1.

The keypad has typical F keys with Specialfunctions (mute, Volume, WiFi,...). After unpacking and booting the laptop all the function keys (F1 to F12) worked. After you have installed last as drivers Hard - and Software on the Toshiba Site the function keys no longer work. Only the Volume up and down function still works, while pressing the FN key (normally, this works without pressing the FN key).

I checked Toshiba's system settings and the keyboard settings haven't changed. They are always on 'Specialfunctions' (so I don't normally have to press the FN key). Relocation of several drivers and the installation of the 'Value added package' (Windows 7) has not helped. I don't know what to do and hope you can help me. The functions are practical and it would be boring, if they no longer work.

Please excuse my English. I come from Germany and do not write in English, very often.
    Thank you

    > After installing the most recent drivers for Hard - and Software on the Site of Toshiba, the function keys no longer work.
For stone, that I do not understand why you installed anything, if your laptop comes with preinstalled OS 8.1 version and everything worked properly. Don't change anything if there is no reason for this.

My advice to you is: create a media recovery and after having made this original version of the OS install again. You can do this by using the created disc or HARD drive recovery option.

The strangest on East turn on map of wireless network or off with the switch located on the front of the laptop. This has the effect to load a copy of MS Outlook whenever it is switch extra.
I have the latest version of Microsoft IntelliType Pro (version 5.20.412.0)

Any idea on how to solve this problem?

    Hello

Sorry, but you haven't explained do you have this problem now, using laptop or other external keyboard.

If the problem persists with the help of an external one I think that you can not use combinations of keys FN + FX of Toshiba. Each external keyboard is specific and in my opinion, you should see s operating manuals and check also all additional functions. I'm also sure that you are able to set up some special keys on your own.

The problem with the WLAN mixer is very strange. Try to delete the specific Microsoft software and check if the feature is as before.

All drivers and utilities, you'll find the European driver Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

Please note that you will need to install drivers in the correct order.
On the Toshiba driver page, you will find the installation instructions txt file.
Follow this order! This is important.

  • Re: Function keys issue in Toshiba M50DA103 with Linux

    Hi all

I bought this Toshiba M50DA103 to eventually eliminate the pre-installed Windows 8 and install my flavor of Linux on it instead. However, there is a problem annoying with the function keys, a problem that appeared after I installed Ubuntu Linux. The function keys appear to all foires (the key which is supposed to increase the brightness suspends the computer instead, and so on.)

First of all, I thought that this could be a problem with Ubuntu only, but then I tried to boot Fedora, and the problem is always the same. That being said, it could be a matter of core, or a problem of hardware compatibility.

Could you please give me some ideas on what I can do to fix it? In fact, I have discussed this matter with the Ubuntu forums guys, but could not reach a solution.

    Please help, if possible.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I tried to understand the situation of the hotkey and belive it works like this:

The kernel has a certain driver, toshiba_acpi, who handles the events from the keyboard shortcut key.
The driver is for a reason any confused about the layout of shortcut keys.
I think that most of the distros uses the same driver for the kernel, so it won't do much good to exchange for another.

You mention the unit suspended when it is supposed to reduce the brightness.
This is how was the plu layout of Toshiba - FN + F3 = standby, hibernation = FN + F4.

So what is happening is that the driver react the "old way".

I reached out to the maintainer of the pilot to ask questions about how it works.
Don't expect miracles or even any improvement at all.
But if we are lucky, we can find the roommate of changes.

  • Cannot change the brightness on Toshiba Tecra S11 with Win7 using the FN keys

I can't change the brightness on Toshiba Tecra S11 with Win7 using the FN keys (disable audio and other work fine) when logged in as a normal user.

I can change it via power or Administrator Options.

Maybe you didn't install VAP (value added package) for all user accounts.
Please reinstall VAP by using your user account.

You can also check if the user account is the Admin right supported.
You can run simple applications (exe) as an administrator.
For this, he must right click on exe file (value package) and should choose + Run as administrator. +

    Check it!

  • Satellite A350-13 function keys a Windows 7 64 bit does not

    Hello
I upgraded my new laptop Vista Win7 64 bit, however the function keys do not work and the function keys that display at the top when you press FN doesn't show any more. I installed the utility and value added package but without success. Any help is apperciated.

    Note to the Toshiba team:
Why don't you pack all the necessary drivers and software in one package after their test, based on the model of the computer in my case Satellite A350-13, for example you could make a package for another Win7x64 to Win7x32, etc., instead of letting spend US days to understand what to install and where to find them and if it will work or not. Waiting for your comments.

  • S50-B-15N issues satellite keyboard/Trackpad / function key - win 10 improvement

I bought a Satellite S50-B-15N a few months ago, who came with Windows 8.1 and decided to do the upgrade of Windows 10 about two months ago. Initially, the laptop worked well but in recent weeks, he had various issues with the keyboard, trackpad, and function keys.

Keyboard: Sometimes the laptop starts up and the keyboard detects no input. A few reboots solves the problem. If I hold the BACKSPACE key to delete several characters as a single character is deleted on one-click Rollback, I can't keep him down quickly delete several words.

Trackpad: The same for the keyboard sometimes at startup it works everything simply. I have to use the keyboard to access devices Manager where I must get back the driver trackpad for her to start working again at the next reboot.

Function keys: All the keys of the row from the top on the laptop (brightness, volume, stock selection, etc.) do not work. I am able to hold the "FN" key and select an F key, like F5, but other keys are completely insensitive.

I tried reading the forums for solutions and I went to the page of the driver of Toshiba and installed all the drivers for Windows 10 for my laptop, so far, nothing has worked. Is that what I can do to make the laptop works properly with Windows 10?

I have a similar problem. I had the same Toshiba model and bought in August. Not sure when the new driver will be released. If anyone has an idea how to solve this problem?

I have Satellite M30E (brought in Oct 04). Past 3-4 months, my function keys stopped working. I'm not able to increase or decrease the brightness of the display which makes reading difficult. I took the laptop to the Toshiba service center, they ask for the reconstruction of the BONES and they will be responsible.

    Hello

The ASP's right. If you want to use the FN key combinations you need of the V1.27.0.0 of E - Key Utility. This driver, you can find on the CD tool & utilities. If you need the most recent version of this driver, you can visit the official website of Toshiba.
Furthermore if this procedure doesn't work, I suggest you to recover your operating system with the supplied restore CD.

  • S50 satellite - B - 14 M - button and function keys switch F

So, I posted this a few days ago on plateau "Tools & Utilities", but did not answers, then maybe I should be more patient. But, since this forum seems to be a little more active, I thought I would try it here as well. Who knows, maybe some people with a Satellite S have experienced the same thing!

I looked for an answer on google and this forum for days, but were not able to find something useful (especially in combination with 'windows 10', I have no idea if install had no effect in the present).

I installed Windows 10 last week, and I don't know if it's the 'problem' at the start, but since yesterday I've been aware of the fact that the 'modus special function"F - keys (i.e. the function in which you don'thave to store the function key to access the special functions under the (former) F keys) no longer works.

    I have already tried:
    -My system restarts
-Control Panel > keyboard > function key modus (but which has been defined correctly!).
-Tried any combination of Fn with any other possible key.

So I don't know what the problem is. It might have something to do with the $ 10 Windows?

    Details:
    Toshiba Satellite S50 - B - 14 M
Pre-installed with Windows 8.1, upgraded to Windows 10 Home last Tuesday

Thanks to anyone who can help me!

I solved it myself! Turns out I just needed another obvious solution: reinstall the utility function of key driver.

    Well done!

Thanks for sharing the solution with us!

  • Satellite A135-S4527 - drivers needed & function keys do not work

    Hello

I have a Satellite A135-S4527. But when I got this computer it was without a recovery disk / disk to reinstall Vista and the Vista operating system that was installed was a bloated mess - it has been widely used by a person of lesser intelligence. In any case, I decided to get out the hard drive and put it in my SSD with Windows XP Professional SP3.

That's when the problems started to flow. It turns out that Toshiba doesn't support Windows XP operating system - I checked the site and was surprised to see a total lack of support for Windows XP (even though Windows XP is the dominant OS and a fortiori when this laptop has been done).

I managed to get the drivers installed, for everything except the modem. Easier to find drivers were Intel for Chipset / Motherboard and graphic processing of legacy unit. The thing is, I don't know if these are the official drivers and I'm completely lost on the drivers for the modem. Any idea where I can gain more - late and the biggest drivers of all my components?

    There are also some problems,
    -Brightness function keys do nothing
-Laptop computer sometimes comes out no mode 'sleep'

What can I do on the brightness keys? The monitor is sometimes a bit too bright to be comfortable to use. Yet, I'll have a chance to make those keys actually do something.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hello

To my knowledge, this must be a series of Toshiba laptops we.
Therefore, I visited the Toshiba driver page us to check the availability of driver.
And guess what? I found this, but unfortunately there is not a lot of drivers Win XP.

There are Vista and Win 7 but not Win XP drivers.
I guess that's all that's available for Win XP.
    So what to do?

I think you should try to install the missing tools which are released for other series of laptop; for example, A105-Sxxxxxx
Maybe you will get the driver works

Let's hope. Otherwise, you will need to use the laptop without these functions
