Touchpad disabled suddenly on dv7

Sometimes when I work on my laptop I'll hear a strange tone and a light box appears on my screen with a picture of my touchpad with a diagonal red line through it.   At that time my touchpad is useless: I can't move my mouse at all, nor can I right or left click. My keyboard still works well. I have to close my computer to get my mouse etc to answer once again, but, in doing so, I may lose unsaved documents.  Why this height and how can I solve this problem in the future?

Hello

First, download the latest installer driver Synaptics, on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp50501-51000/sp50594.exe

Then, open windows control panel, open programs and features, right click on the entry "Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" and choose uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

When windows has completely recharged, open your download folder, click with the right button on the setup of Synaptics and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  When this has completed, restart the computer again.

When windows is loaded, you may need to reconfigure some of the parameters clickpad - a guide on this can be found on the following document.

With the help of & configuration the ClickPad.

  • I have my touchpad disabled, when the present mouse, randomly re touchpad allows

My touchpad disabled randomly re allows, with my hung wireless mouse. usually at the wrong time like in the middle of a battle over a game making me do right or left clicks or other things I won't do. He also re active on a start or restart and works with the installed logitec mouse. opening of the mouse still once, that turns off the touchpad again.  so not a problem serious but embarrassing. If disabled, it should remain disabled.

I made a few changes to my laptop boot order and the 500 GB hd was initially divided into 3 partitions. one for the operating system and two equal, when I arrived at 245? GB of data on my partition it didn 't' t use the other 245 and says the disk is full, in order to use the entire disk, I've merged the two partitions and afraid of possible complications, if I try to do a cleanboot.

I did even with my computer windows 8, which has had problems with the update windows 8.1 do not restart after the update. I fixed it by changing the bios boot order, and now it works fine. and it restarts with all my previously installed programs and files still intact.

So, if after what I did for my laptop I'm a little hesitant to make a cleanboot and possibly make my computer unusable. It shouldn't be a problem, but I don't want to take any chances!

Thanks for your response have a great day!

  • Compaq Presario CQ42: Synaptics Touchpad disabled in advanced settings for other users

    Hello

I have three in my Compaq Presario CQ-42 user profiles, an administrator and others are "user".

When I fisrt lives the synaptics touch settings window buffer through my first profile "User" 1, in the properties of the mouse-> device-> Synaptics LuxPad V7.4-> settings settings, all the options in this window were available for selection and nobody has been disabled. Now when I go to 'Administrator' profile, some of the options in this window settings are disabled, and seem to be partly hidden. As the option 'Enable the Pinch Zoom in the Pinch Zoom section' and 'Activate Pivot spin turn' seems to be hidden/disabled. To check this, I created the other profile of 'Other users' 2, but without success, and I found the same problem here too. I also tried to uninstall the synaptics driver several times of all profiles, but every time I have re-installed and checked to get the same result. The parameters were only available for the 'User' 1 profile every time and disable for profile administrator and "User 2" profile.

I can produce the same shots if necessary.

Please help me to get the solution because I'm very addicted to advanced by synaptics settings.

Hello Dishat, welcome to the Forums of HP.

It seems that you need to activate the advanced settings of your touchpad on your laptop, you are only able to do this in a profile, as in the other some options are grayed out. I will try to help you with this.

To help you more effectively on this issue, could you please provide the following:

The operating system currently installed on your laptop.
Model and product numbers on your laptop.

In the meantime, see if it can help you all: use and configure the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista).

  • Unable to get the touchpad disabled on my Asus laptop

No way to disable the touchpad on my Asus laptop.
My asus is the model #K52F

    Hello

My first thought is that the best place to look is with Asus themselves. Every time when dealing with a piece of built in material on a laptop computer, the manufacturer is the bast place to search for answers.

I think you should update the drivers on the computer. Here's the link to those.
    http://www.ASUS.com/notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K52F/#download

It is likely that the driver for the mouse pad does not work properly. Please download the drivers and display the results.

Also, don't forget that there should be a way to "permanently" to disable the touchpad from the computer's BIOS menu. This will ensure that the touchpad is still disabled, unless you go back into the BIOS and turn it back on.

Normally you get the BIOS to boot the system upward. A message should illuminate saying press F8 Safe Mode F9 for BIOS or something very similar. Again, it is a better thing for ASUS to answer and guide you if you get stuck.

I hope this helps! Please post back with the results!

  • Should keep X 220 TouchPad disabled

    I have a X 220.

    I disabled the TouchPad by

Control Panel > Device Manager > properties of mouse > UltraNav.

    It seems to take effect.

But once I restart my PC, the TouchPad is enabled again.

How can I keep this option disabled?

    Environment:

    Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit

    ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 16.2.19.2

    ThinkPad UltraNav 2.13.0 utility

Don't bother messing around with drivers, that you no longer need, and messing about with all uninstall it, reinstall this kind of things.

If you permanently disabled (as I did), simply disable it in the BIOS.

Press the "Thinkvantage" button for the system to start first.

When you see the list of options, press "F1".

Click on "Config" in the bios.

    Go to "keyboard and mouse".

Select the touchpad off and let the trackpoint activated.

Now, you can use the 'node', the buttons, the touch screen (if you have one) and never worry about that horrible trackpad still. If you decide to use again, simply go into the bios and enable it to come back on. It takes a few seconds to do.

I would however recommend installing drivers ultranav directly from synaptics, so that you can adjust all the settings you want to change for the trackpoint.

    Good luck.

  • Synaptics Touchpad disabled by automatic update of Windows (Dell Inspiron E1505 running Vista)

Some time ago, after Windows has pushed an update, my Synaptics touchpad is not responding.  I didn't know it was the update that was causing the problem in time - only, I discovered that after investing many hours of research on the internet on the topic.  I searched the internet for fixes, without success.  Run support of Dell diagnostics, which indicated that the touchpad is operational, but even in Safe Mode, it is unresponsive in Windows.  Dell has also tried unistalling the drivers and reinstall them later (I presume) drivers for this model, also without success.  Windows restore points is available since a few days, so there is no possibility to restore to a previous update of the State.  Support Dell tells me that now the only solution they can provide is to return to the factory settings.  Missions in various forums around the internet, I know that this isn't an isolated problem, but to get a fix from Microsoft, I have to pay a fortune to support time.  Help!
