I understand that the Touchpad often stops responding, but the keyboard and mouse work fine.

On some laptop computers, you can enable or disable the TouchPad in double tapping in the upper left corner of the touch pad. Maybe it's happening and you are not aware of it.

Here is a link to use and troubleshoot the TouchPad and ClickPad (Windows 8).

I hope this has helped.

  • Freezing of touchpad HP Pavilion 17-e105sa

Hi I have a problem with the touchpad of my new laptop freezing.  It happens quite often, once whenever I use the laptop.

The pointer freezes while using the touchpad and still have my finger on it.  As soon as I was my finger off the coast and back, it starts working again.

Interestingly, I put the annimated tray icon, and when the pointer is frozen, the animation still detects that I am spending my finger on the touchpad.  It's just the pointer does not move.

In fact, typing this message, it seems I can reproduce it by trying to use the touchpad immediately after (not at the same time) by pressing a button on the keyboard (i.e. to replicate press a letter key and immediately after, try to move the pointer using the touch pad - nothing happens with the pointer!).

I unchecked all the additional features of the Synaptics TouchPad v7.5 other than the "buttons".  The laptop is running Windows 8.1

Everyone knows, or know a fix?

Well, I found the answer myself almost as soon as I had discovered how to reproduce.

Start-> mouse (research)-> device-> settings settings (select Synaptics LuxPad)-> improved ACM Palmcheck-> Palmcheck-> setting the slider to the off position

  • HP Pavilion Dv 7 6110ec: start freezing after AMD graphics driver

    Hello

recently I formatted my hard drive, even the part of recovery ({because suddenly windows 7 wouldn't start, and also the fan error has occurred, which I fixed by taking my laptop apart and dust wiping, NO BOOT UP PROBLEM continued, so I changed the hard drive}.) . So normally, I installed Windows 7 on a completely new hard drive.

Everything is ok except, evrytime I install the graphics driver AMD (tried this at least three times by reinstalling new windows}, after the reboot, it will not start pass the loading screen of windows 7)

Only, it freezes on splash screen.  - and yes I installed the chipset drivers and recommended drivers - FIRST before installing driver AMD - http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv7-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/508...

Impossible to run even in safe mode, which also freezes at startup...

So I start from the principle that there must be something wrong with the AMD driver.

    Advice please?

    Hi @Mike569,

Try not to install the driver AMD after installed Windows 7. Go to your device manager to check if any driver under the graphics card. If there is no driver listed, please use search the hardware changes in the action button on the top. If there is a driver listed, please right click to update the driver.

You can then run the HP Support Assistant to update your drivers.

Also, check if all the Windows installed updates.

    Kind regards

  • Touchpad HP Pavilion 17 works does not after using an external wireless mouse

I have the HP Pavilion 17 laptop.  It is running Windows 8.1.  Everything worked fine until I used an external wireless mouse.  After unplugging the mouse the touchpad does not itself again.  I have therefore no pointer and no touchpad to use unless I have keep the external mouse not connected.  I tried the hard reset with the plug of the battery, unplugging, pressing the power button for 15 seconds and turning everything back on.  Still no work touchpad.  Had this happen last week and called HP because I only had the laptop for 3 days at this time here.  They had me do a system restore to an earlier point.  At this point, everything worked again and I toilet problem has been resolved.  This is why I used the external mouse always thinking that it wouldn't be a problem.  I was wrong.

Also, I've seen other posts on a different notebook that has a toggle power button in the upper left corner of the touchpad to activate/disengage, but this was not one of these.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  My next step is to call HP again tomorrow and see if someone else has another solution.  I would obviously like the ability to use the touch pad or external mouse at any time without having to restart and go through all these other problems.  Otherwise, this phone pretty may be going back to the store this weekend.  :-)

    Thank you!!

This fixed the problem! Thank you very much!! Seriously, 3 different phone calls to HP and not one of them ever talked about this easy solution!

    Hello!

Having a problem with my Pavilion dv 6809us laptop.  It freezes everything trying to get from one page to another. I can't stop or close pages.  It just happens.  I trided chkdsk and it gets to Chapter 4 of the 5, checks some files and then stops. I have a message "analysis of the reliability metric calculation executable has stopped working".  I don't know where to go from here.  The hard drive is faulty? a Trojan horse? any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello anndel18,

I see that you get an error message with the new hard drive in the computer. I would say making sure the connection to the new hard drive is secure.

First, you must use the recovery discs to format the new hard drive. Here is a link that explains what to do a restore of system with recovery disks.

  • HP Pavilion dm4-3055dx Entertainment PC freezes on the right side of the screen after logging in. Help, please.

    Hello people,

I have a very frustrating problem with my HP Pavilion dm4 - 3.55dx Entertainment PC running Windows 7. I bought it 3 months back and it worked very well at the speed I expected to until yesterday when I restarted.

I was watching videos on youtube when my google chrome crashed. And then every time I restarted chrome, it would start but will not let me type. As a result, I started using Firefox and that worked very well. But I had all my bookmarks and stuff on Firefox so I decided to restart my laptop, hoping that would solve the problem of chrome.

When it restarted, everything went well, I connected and my office has appeared, but it froze. I couldn't do anything and he would not recognize the clicks. Nothing seemed to work so I used the power button on for close and tried again. The same problem. Then I opened a session in Safe Mode and checked the event viewer and there was an error on the Microsoft .NET Framework v4 period.

I also had DCOM 1084 errors but I'm assuming this is because I was in safe mode in time. The other persistent mistake was my WLAN won't start not in Normal mode (I can access the internet fine with safe mode). I read on some forums that a virus could be the problem so I uninstalled Avast, but which did not help. Nothing seemed to help, so I restored my system to July 31. It is while I had the latest update of Windows. Yet once again, the problem still exists.

This morning the only mistake in the case where the viewer was the Search Service Windows does not but the laptop still frozen every time so I disabled the search service, but that did not help either. The system still freezes whenever I starts in Normal mode, but it records all errors in the system event viewer folder. There is one in the application log on the description for event ID 1003 from source that ISCT Agent cannot be found.

I don't know what the problem with my laptop. Everything worked as it should until reboot. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

Ok. The HARD drive is faulty. Please use your warranty and get in touch with HP. They will send you for free the new HARD drive.

After a recent update, I can no longer use the square in the upper left corner of the touchpad to turn it off.  How can I re-enable this feature?

    Hello

Try to reinstall the Synaptics driver as follows.

Download the installer from Synaptics of the page on the link below and save this to your downloads folder.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp52501-53000/sp52661.exe

Then, open windows control panel, open programs and features, make a right click the entry for the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and choose uninstall.  Once done, restart the laptop.

When windows has completely recharged, open your download folder, click with the right button on the setup of Synaptics and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Yet once, once done, reboot the laptop.

  • My HP Pavilion laptop 1001sa g6 keeps freezing (windows 7)

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me.

About 2 months I bought this new laptop, it was fine until recently.

Whenever I go on the internet, try to download something, try opening a new tab, my phone freezes, and generally it won't let me open Task Manager when I press CTRL + ALT + DELETE. I don't know why it does this, I ran virus scans with Norton (I'm still in my free trial of 90 days) and no threats were found, I did Disk Defragmenter, I scanned the computer to find errors, I have done disk clean ups and I have no idea why it freezes again. I also changed my Internet browser from Microsoft Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox and I always seem to have the same problems.

Any help would be appreciated as to why he keeps freezing or if anyone has had the same kind of problems with their laptops?

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes, you will need to make a backup of all your personal files to some form of external media (external hard drive, DVD, etc.).  As a general rule, HP will send you the new hard drive - it will be completely empty, then you will need to reinstall the operating system on the new drive using your recovery disks, then load back your personal files from your external backup source.  If you have not created your set of recovery disks, you will need to order a set of replacement of these at the same time.

The procedure of replacing the HARD drive is detailed from Page 45 of your & Maintenance Guide.
