Electrical components sometimes must have all the food sources removed and reintroduced to work properly.  Try to perform a hard reset first, if this does not work then we will move on to the next step.

To perform a hard reset

  • Shut down the computer by going to the menu start and select shut down. (If you have no display, hold the button for 5 seconds); (if the computer don't market, go to the next step)
  • Unplug the adapter from the laptop.
  • Remove the battery from the bottom of the laptop.  There will be a switch/battery eject button.
  • Wait at least 1 minute with all sources of power disconnected.
  • Reinsert the battery and reconnect the power adapter, and then try to turn on the laptop.

    -The power button and the charger are on and the hdd led only flashes once
    -The fan comes on for about 3 seconds
    -No image on the screen, I indicated a light against it, but there is really no image

    I disassembled it and noticed that this laptop has an external video card, so my question is, who's broken the video card or the motherboard.

    Thank you

    To be honest I don't understand this with an external video card. Can you describe how you mean exactly?
    In any case, on this virtual path, it is not easy to offer the exact diagnosis. You can try the little test and remove this external adapter, RAM and HARD disk, and try to start again.

  • Pavilion Slimline s5510f: Desktop turns on but does not start

    No problem whatsoever with the computer.  On the indicated start screen Windows updates have been installed.   I noticed that the update "failed" and was "back" to forecast position or something to that effect.

    This has happened about 4 days after I tried to leave the HP screen download updates from HP.  The download takes forever and I finished downloading.  Don't know if this has nothing to do with the question or not.

    Used the computer all day and then stop it.  Next day morning hitting the power button, fans have started, a yellow light flickered once and nothing happenn-no beeps.  The screen was black and then a box of monitor State said he was not getting a signal and entered into mode 'sleep'.  Key Board not light.

    I closed the computer and tried a reboot.  Same thing happened.

    I looked at a few HP documentation and videos about the lack of seed.  I did find a simular situation to mine because most people get a cursor on a black screen or an error message.  All my computer is turn on, a flicker of yellow light, fans running and there it is.

    I tried to access the BIOS by turning on the computer and press F10, then F1 but nothing happens at all.

    I removed the memory cards and reinstalled them.  Same thing.

    I removed the memory cards and attempted to start the thing same computer.  No beeps.

    I would like to make the backup disks that I made when I bought the computer.   I hesitate to do something with these discs.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.  But, what I read in the documentation, it seems as if with no beep with memory cards removed, it is the motherboard?

    If it is the motherboard, does that mean?  Go buy another computer?

    You're welcome, @EarlD1.  Novice, perhaps, but you did a great job!  It is one of the most difficult and scary for some, processes of diagnostics on a computer.

    I read your first post again.  I think that the next step should be to test memory.  There are several ways to test, but I want to do the most simple.  Remove all the memory when the computer is off and replace them one at a time and start.  If the computer starts, the memory is good.

    If memory proves to be good, I suggest that you try to perform a system recovery complete from the recovery media that you made when you purchased the computer.

  • C720 turns on but does not start.

    I got my chromebook 3 September 2014, so it conveniently broke down less then one week out of warranty.

    When I turn on the laptop, it shows yellow exclamation point screen, saying "Google Chrome os is missing or damaged." I tried several times the recovery image, but he encounters an error every time. I tried to do the factory reset, but also, they do not work. I looked at the reason for the recovery, it says "0x5b no bootable kernel not found on the disk."

    I was wondering if replacing the SSD should solve the problem, I wanted to update my space on the drive anyway. I'm not interested in the data on the drive I have now, or the chrome operating system, really. I would be happy to just install Ubunut 14 on it, if it's a possibility.

    Someone at - it options to offer?

    Some areas may have problems with the seal broken. Fortunately in the United States as long as the device has not been damaged as part of opening the case, normally is not a problem. Worst case, they will receive your unit and if they have questions, they will contact you and go on options before something is done. If you don't want to do either of these options, we will ship it to you.

  • Defender is turned off, but does not give me access to it 2 turn on power

    These days have a lot of problems with my laptop.  Problems with starting.  I need to access windows defender to modify startup programs.  It is said that Defender is turned off, but does not give me access to it 2 turn it on.  In addition, different problems with different users and accounts by the office put in place, it looks like all my users are running different versions of windows, so I don't know where to start with all the problems.  Security sounded like a good place 2 start, so I guess I'll start by Defender problems.  (I have recently downloaded the free security essentials, safety signs so all green lights).

    It is a sign of a lack of food.  Looks like you have a desktop computer?

    Power supplies run about $50.  It is a rectangular box at the corner of the system in which the power supply will from the outside.  It's a pretty standard form in most of the PC and with a little investigation thorough replacements can be found.

    It is usually held in place by 4 screws and can be held in place with a spring clip.

    Most essential, is that you need to buy a replacement with the right number of straight plug forms to adapt to your PC.

    This seems more complicated than it really is and takes about 5 to 10 minutes to do the replacement.

    Look at the power output of the power supply failure and buy a new, more powerful.  New desktop PC usually come usually with a diet under size and what are the causes these failures is too strong a request for devices you have connected.  So, buy one with a higher power rating.  Usually about 500 Watts does the trick.

    If you do not feel upwards to this task, a technician should not charge you much like this.

  • Satellite A300 - rotates but does not start

    Hello

    I have a Satellite A300. I had several probems for the boot since 2 months ago: when I want to turn on my laptop, it turns on but the screen keeps black and it does not load the screen "Toshiba Leading Innovation". 'Satellite' (to the left of the mouse) light is on (it would go only about a second then to start and then turn off) and it will turn off.

    I try again for so many times with all the possibilities: without battery, only with the power adapter, two, but it does not start. I don't know what I can do. I always Hibernate my laptop because I'm afraid of can not start it the next day.

    Could you help me? If she cares: I had to buy a new battery (not original from Toshiba) because I had to change the original. No more changes to my laptop.

    Thank you very much and sorry for my English written: S

    Hey Buddy,

    > I had to buy a new battery (not original from Toshiba) because I had to change the original. No more changes to my laptop.
    Of course, it s always advisable using Toshiba original spare parts only, but if you notice the same problem with AC adapter only it s not related to the new battery.

    Just to make a better diagnosis: If you have connected an external monitor? The internal display is perhaps the problem and doesn't turn on and it would be useful if you are testing the situation and an external monitor.

    But this noise as a hardware problem serious and in this case, you can wait to contact an authorized service provider. Technicians professional diagnostic tools to make an accurate diagnosis and to Exchange defective equipment parts.

  • Recovery partition is there but does not start Recovery

    Hello

    When you try to restore the image (F11 at startup), the laptop seems to be as he tries to start missing Windows installation (Windows Boot Manager error page).

    Partitions 'SYSTEM', 'HP_RECOVERY' and 'HP_TOOLS' have not been affected. Recovery files of ~ 15 GB are still there!

    The Windows (2nd primary) partition was deleted and then recreated as an NTFS partition. Since then, the recovery process does not start.

    How can I restore my intact HP_RECOVERY partition system without using recovery DVD? (I can't access right now.)

    The partition Windows has need of a specific disk label? What is the magic that breaks the recovery when an NTFS partition is all simply deleted and then re-created?

  • Pavilion dv7-6101eo works but does not start.

    My laptop got a cup of black coffee on the keyboard.

    I have cleaned up a bit, disassemble the entire laptop, same cpu, added new money and put the brand new togeather. Started and everything worked. Close the computer laptop domw - dead. Could not start without flashing, nothing. Repeated picking hand everythung once again and began. Works perfekt press start and go. So this time I made a recovery and reinstalled everything.

    The keyboard does not everywhere, a, s, d, f, e, l and Swedish letter o does not work very well. I don't have much contact for helmet properly not work either - you get a bit of his, but a little in the speakers and phones. I forgot to check the sd card reader, but here, it is located in the corner of a speaker.

    Onece I disassembled except mobo and this card reader and then the laptop is not started. I had to do it all again and he began. So now I'm a little confused to what it can be?

    It does not remove batteri, pushing start button. Not 15 seconds - not even 2 minutes. I know that battery, power cord works fine, cd, network, hard drive, memory, fan, cpu - everything works and yesterday the laptop running 24 hours without dysfunction at all. Programs installed and revived over and over again. And after all that I closed the laptop the way you should. And - he won't do it again?

    There is a possibility that some power is left in the drive cd-card or something that stops the laptop to boot? Or is it enough that the keyboard is malfunctioning? I don't understand what it is with the disassembeling process that makes the laptop to start.

    It's not fun to have all take part whenever you want to start your computor ...

    Looks like the coffee did more damage as you thought.

    You should have dismantled it and used contact cleaner everywhere where coffee could go.

    The next step is difficult for most people: allow to dry for at least a day outdoors in a dry place without danger... It is unfortunate that you don't have that.

    Consider looking for a replacement book.  A motherboard and keyboard options, less the cost puts you upside down against the current value of the laptop.

Use a LiveCD of ubuntu, I can access the drive and see the file system. Certainly, you have a SATA hard drive.  The original Windows XP CD does not include a driver for the SATA drives (Ubuntu and the BIOS most recent do).  When you boot from your Windows XP CD, you will probably come to a point where it asks you to press F6 to install additional drivers.  Here's where you need to press F6 and then install a floppy with the SATA drivers on them.  If you do not have a floppy drive, things get complicated, you may need to create a XP CD slipstreamed with the pre-installed drivers.  You can probably find the SATA drivers from the Web site of the manufacturer of your computer or the drive manufacturer's Web site.

    "Limited OEM driver support is available with F6 during installation of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003"
     <>http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314859/ >

    If I were you at this point, I would be your drive Ubuntu allows you to save your data from hard drive on a USB drive or a network drive, and then reinstall Windows.  You can probably press a combination of keys very early in the boot process before the Windows startup that will render your machine on the condition that bought from a recovery hard disk partition.  This is a radical step, but you might find it faster to attempt recovery.  Check the Web site of the manufacturer of your computer for a user manual for your computer that describes how to do this.

  • Computer turns on but does not boot to Windows, startup repair does not work

    When I turn on my laptop, it brings me to a screen titled "Windows Error Recovery" which means the following:

    "Windows did not start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. »

    He asks me if I want to '(recommended) launch Startup Repair' or 'Start Windows normally'.

    When I select repair system, the screen turns off for half a second only and brings back me to the exact page as I was already on.

    When I select "Start Windows normally", he brings me to the loading screen that usually starts with Vista (anyone who says (c) Microsoft Corporation), except that it never stops loading.  I left for hours, and he was still on the same screen.

    I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1525 with a processor Intel Core 2 Duo and Windows Vista Basic.

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
