  To answer your question on the data, you can certainly take a backup of data you mentioned that the problem is with the power supply. If the computer's hard drive is fine, then I'm sure that your data must be intact.

  I assume that the computer is not turn now, so I recommend to remove the hard drive from the computer and connect it to a working computer and see if it detects is.

  If the hard drive is fine he should get detected without any problem and you can back up all your data.
