  I also replaced my DVD drive on an older Toshiba laptop and I can tell that you need to install a DVD player that is listed in the user manual.
  If you can ensure that the new drive works because the reader has the same pinout.

  After a year since I bought my laptop, the optical drive started having problems reading most of my DVD discs, even those written with her self.
  I want to replace the unit, I did this operation with my previous laptop too but then I used a maintenance manual.

  Hello

  The replacement is not complicated and you don t need textbooks. The reader is fixed with a screw. You can find it in the bottom corner near the memory module cover. Remove it and turn off the player.

  Have a desktop P6650z, and the dvd drive needs to be replaced. I have deliberately not a Dell b/c I thought that I'd get better equipment.

  Based on this link, your machine uses standard berries which means that any standard optical drive must adapt. You plan to add Blue Ray player on your machine? If SO, you can go for BD Player now, no doubt you have to pay about $10 more.

• SATEGO P100-490 replace DVD player

  The optical drive on my SATEGO P100-490 is becoming worse and worse.
  It started with delay, while that to watch DVD movies, now, sometimes same CD cannot be read.
  So I guess it's a problem with the hardware with the player, a Panasonic UJ-850.

  I was looking for alternative and in general I found a lot of UJ - 850.
  But often the seller indicates that an update of the "master set" firmaware is necessary to operate in systems Tosiba.

  So my questions:

  Can wher I get this firmware update?
  What model of car I can use?
  SATEGO is the same satellite?

  PS: I am running WIN - XP on this machine.

  Hi all, I recently bought a used Elitebook 8570p - big machine. To my surprise, when I went to burn it to a CD, I discovered the installed DVD ROM is a reader, not a writer. I didn't even know that those who exist more... Model is HP DVD ROM DT80N.

  I've never replaced a DVD player, but I feel comfortable doing the swap. However, I can't determine what player will agree and match the look of the laptop.

  I'm looking to replace the HD-DVD drive in my Toshiba X 200 (PSPBUA-00N007) with a Blu - Ray player (or burner). They are on the market yet and available at Toshiba (or, say, eBay)? What should I look for?

  The HD-DVD player is a cool historical anachronism, but Blu - Ray will probably be a little more useful for me in the future.

  As far as I know, there are some Blueray drives on the market that can be used in the notebook. But the fact is that not all readers are compatible because different master/slave/c-salt settings.

  I didn t find information on compatible BR readers. I guess you will have to test it yourself.

  I would like to replace it with a Sony Optiarc, but I noticed it says Vista OS and I have XP Home Edition.

  I put t know if the other drive you want to say will work in your Satellite M70 but I would recommend consulted the user manual of your laptop. There you can find a list of compatible readers, they are pre-tested. You can find this information on the first pages, I think.

  My Portege DVD drive makes horrible rattling noises and seems to be endangered. I read in a thread here that universal readers could not work as of the Portege BIOS has assigned the DVD drive as slave and the new drive should be a slave to work. Is this correct? I really don't want to do the fix welding!

  I have another laptop that has a TSST drive and I plugged it and the portgege showed an ide error. It of just a matter of having good firmware or is the problem with the above mentioned ide settings.

  I selected a Toshiba PA3162E dvd player - 2 CD 2, but he said with the Portege 4000, 4010 compatitble, M100 and Tecra 9000 it's does not list the compatible A100. Does anyone know if this drive works on my machine?

  If you check s manuals for Portege A100 is there a list of compatible ratings? Problem is that all Toshiba laptops do not have the same hardware platform and any waiting won't work on each laptop model. As far as I know the pin assignment is different. Because of this, you need compatible ODD for your laptop model.

  As I said at the beginning usually all compatible sides are included in manuals s user document. Please check. If this isn't the case, please let us know.

  CD/DVD drive not unawares... may not open the drawer with a needle but the computer no longer seems to recognize that I have a CD/DVD player... did some checking online and after having checked that the driver was updated (it was), most popular tips seem to be remove the driver, reboot and it needs to be reinstalled , but it did not... There is now no inscription on the device for DVD/CD Manager.
