Transfer or backup of the mailboxes of OE6 & filters

Windows XP SP3
AMD Athlon
2 GB OF DDRAM
Email: 0E6.00

I had a virus that has erased or changed any critical files on WinXP. I no longer WinXP load correctly and must use SafeMode w/network.

I copied all the music and data files and uploaded to the server.  I want to save & and/or save my Mail OE, the letters and filters 100 boxes.

How can I save and transfer all necessary OE6 files, so I can reformat and install WinXP fresh, but not lose OE6 mail & filters and other necessary data to OE?

Thank you in advance and hope...

You have a G... R. E... A.. T day! :-)

Well, if you have formatted, my DBXpress program (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) has an extract from disk function and if the messages are still on the disk, it will recover them.  When you format a disk, it does not erase the data, unless he crushes it, so there is a good chance that some messages are still there, and DBXpress will ignore the file system and retrieve them from the disk, if they are.

  • Cannot transfer Time Machine backups on the new drive

I store my backup Time Machine on a Seagate 1.5 TB drive when the drive starts giving errors.  I had files on this computer and was able to transfer all except for 2 who were on unreadable sectors.  Fortunately, one of these files was an older archived version that I could afford to give up and the other was a temporary file in the photo library and since all other items were okay, I think I'm good.

The problem came when I tried to transfer my Time Machine backup of 800 GB for a new disk.  When I copy and Exact-paste (cmd-opt-shift-v) the Backups.backupdb to the new drive, it gets the extent of November 23, 2015 and then dies because reports of the Console to the system, it gets an IO error when you try to read:

    /Library/SystemMigration/history/migration-245250B6-4F52-4FBB-BD61-546A8C19CCD5/ QuarantineRoot/private/var/db/dyld/dyld_shared_cache_x86_64

in the relevant backup.  And because it's an IO error it simply abandons the whole process so I have no backup from November 23, included, for now.

Because the disc is unstable, I wasn't able to use disk utility to make repairs on it.  The disc is what is and I have to deal with the mess, that I do not have the disorder, that I would have.

I tried to manually place the missing files in the database, but the operating system will not let me.  I want to just copy my backup / OS X stop abandonment and be more like Windows and give me the options to "try again" or "fail" instead of just quitting!  I mean, why should I lose my backup all hierarchy of 23 November and beyond, simply because you cannot read a file, a file that I could simply replace in the backup of the current version or you can just ignore it.

I tried to copy files on and setting xattr on them to be backup items, but they are wrong.  I tried chflags parameter to make the writable directory, but it does not work.  I can't copy the missing files to fix my archives.  Help.

Please, don't try to transfer backups of a failed drive. Placing the disk aside until you don't know no longer you need the data, then delete and recycle. Start a new backup set on the new drive. For more security, you always have more than one backup.

  • How to transfer Time Machine backup to the new external hard drive

I'm upgrading to a 1 hard external to the Western reader to with 5 TB of Seagate.  This is because Time Machine has used the 1 TB drive.  How can I transfer the files from backup Time Machine from the old to the new drive so that backups continue to have access to the old files.

Although the documentation Apple says you can copy Time Machine backups in the Finder, it is very slow and sometimes does not.

This technique works only if the volume that you copy to the same size or larger that that you are copying to.

First of all, please open the Time Machine preference pane and click the Select Disk... button. You may be able to unlock the settings first, by clicking on the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window. Log in as administrator.

Remove the volume you want to copy in the list of backup destinations. Then turn off Time Machine.

Launch disk utility, open the built-in Help and search for the term 'Double '. Follow the instructions. All existing data on the destination volume will be deleted. That shouldn't be a problem, because you do not want to mix non-sauvegarde and backup data on the same drive anyway.

If the volume you are copying has been encrypted by Time Machine, you must first unlock it. Click the release button in the toolbar of the disk utility window.

Turn Time Machine back on and select the new volume as a backup destination. Alternatively, you can continue to use the old volume, if you wish. Both will be alternated when both are available.

ATTENTION: If you copy the volume is corrupted, as shown by the ERD or first aid in disk utility, while corruption is copied to the new drive. Do not copy data from a damaged on a faulty disk volume. Put aside the reader and do not use until you don't know that you no longer need the data. Then securely erase it and bring it to a recycling center. Do the same if the restore operation fails with "disk errors."

  • Restore the mailbox of time machine backup

Due to some problems with my MacBook Pro, I recently erased the hard drive and reinstalled the OS X.  All is well except for minor trouble.  One of them is mail folders where I had saved messages in Apple mail.  I would like to get some of these old messages that are no longer available via gmail IMAP, iCloud, etc..  Where are these files located?  I have the last time machine up to before I did the clear operation, so I know I have the files.  Don't know how to access.

Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder.  Select Library/Mail/V2. Enter your backup and restore mailbox store.

  • How can I transfer a file from the operating system to a backup of the production running VM virtual machine?

Problem:  After I do a backup one using ghettoVCB on a local VMFS volume, I have a virtual machine that I can start something happened to that running.  However, sometimes I just need a file from the OS level, which means that I would need to start to get them, but then I have an IP address conflict.  I can't imagine a way to have the NICs turned off and still be able to move the file.  If I change the IP addresses, the software that I need to create the file that I need to transfer no longer works because, although there no need of constant connectivity to the seller, it is locked to the public IP address.http://communities.vmware.com/images/emoticons/sad.gif

Material:  I have two 4 ESXi hosts to work, each with local VMFS volumes.  They share a private vlan common and a vlan common public.  They each ssh, ftp, wput, wget, and rsync available.  I have a Windows 2003 Server VM which also hosts a NFS and the VI client and other VMWare tools.  It also has private and public interfaces as do virtual machines that would be to make and receive the OS files.

Question:  How can I transfer a file from the operating system to a backup of the production running VM virtual machine?

    Thank you!

Yes Mr President, make sure you set the network on this virtual machine to be connected to the 'Internal' vswitch, you set up before turning the power on to the virtual machine.

  • Overview of e-mail list 9.3 cup during the passage of the mailboxes

Since the upgrade to El Capitan and the new Mail (9.3) when I switch between the mailboxes, the preview of the list is cut as shown in the screenshot below. If I resize the preview pane displays the full text of the preview of the list, but this is obviously not optimal. I searched around and don't see reference to it as a known bug. Any ideas?

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • In Apple Mail, I managed to import a box mailbox, but I can't move the mailbox imported to be with the rest of my mail

I accidentally deleted one of my 4 Apple Mail accounts.  Using my backup, I followed the procedures of Apple and successfully imported this box to my backup hard drive letters.

Using Apple Mail, I managed to import the box mailboxes in Apple Mail from my backup, (the mails I wanted are) but I can't MOVE the mailbox imported to be with my other 3 mail accounts.  This folder contains 2 files, incoming messages and sent messages.

I wanted to move the 'Import' folder to the "Mailboxes" section in the sidebar (just below ' boxes ' are my 3 "Inbox". Below are my 3 sent icons. (it looks like a paper airplane).

I even tried to create a new Inbox mailbox, but this new mailbox does not have anything new under the "Inbox" and "Sent" icons.

Try to add the account back and then copy import emails to the mailbox to the appropriate account.

  • There is still a huge problem of compaction of the mailboxes

Once more I heard a person in great distress because Thunderbird removed some critical mail messages. In this case they went to get the mail and gave him a TB ALERT, and told him he had no place in her dressing room IN (there was a huge 20 messages). Thinking that the file was too big (which is a logical deduction of a message "no more room") it compacted his IN box and then there were 4 messages. Other messages have disappeared.

And worse, all the information on the forums are explanations and the defence of TB - as if it was his fault to be compacted, not backup or (my favorite) - an article that says TB is just do what it says to do.

When we combine this with all the traffic of other message here and on other sites about the loss of emails the only thing that is clear is that the modules dealing with indexing and compacting of the mailboxes are tragically flawed. Unfortunately and that's the problem with free software #1 - product builders are doing it for ego, no money, so once they decided that their program is fair and users are mistaken - there it sits, cast in concrete.

Thunderbird has been and is still a leader in form and features but lose data user - for ANY reason-EVER - is and will always be the fault of the developer and no - EVER - users shouldn't have to change its behavior in order to avoid a problem that the developer does not know how to fix.

Of course, there are a solutions - each a work-around to avoid a bug.

As an explantion, I can offer this info.
Emails are not stored in individual files.
They are stored in files mbox, an e-mail listed after another in the order they have been downloaded. If all emails in an Inbox folder, as shown in the folders pane are all in one Inbox file.
When you choose to delete a message, this message is "marked as deleted" and your Visual point of view, it is removed from the Inbox folder in the folders pane and reappears in the folder "Deleted".
In reality, it is always in the Inbox just "marked as deleted.
When you compact the file, these emails "marked as deleted" are deleted, thus creating more space and store the file.
If you do not compact the folder on a frequent basis, the file gets more and wider and at some point may be damaged due to lack of maintenance. Then Thunderbird is perhaps not in a position to say where there is a clear end of the deleted section, therefore resulting in losing a good email.

So, as all documents etc. on your computer, you must do a few basic things to reduce the risk of data loss.

Use the information you learned in the link "keep it works."
Use the Inbox folder as a folder, Inbox, and not as a general storage.
Compact records on a regular basis.
Create backups on a regular basis.
"Options of the Archive"allows to reduce the size of the files, including the "Sent" folder.
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/archived-messages?ESAB=a & s = Archive + options & r = 0 & s = ACE
Archived files are always in the profile Thunderbird and always as accessible and also require backup.

Losing emails is a pain and can be troublesome say the least.
But if you follow the guidelines, then, you reduce the risk of experiencing a problem.
I've manually compress my inbox every day that I will probably have a dozen deleted messages.
I save every month and leave emails on the server for a month, then only between the two, anyway to lose, I can probably recover most if not all emails.

If all goes well, this explains what has likely occurred and how to manage things so that in the future, you are less likely to suffer from corrupt files and more likely that you have a loss, there is a backup plan that you can use.

  • Some iPhone apps don't transfer after restoration at the new iPhone SE

I got my iPhone SE today and made a backup of my 5s iPhone and when I restored the new SE from iTunes a lot of my applications didn't transfer via. Another strange thing is that a few apps is not found in the app store now even if I used them on my 5s.

Some of the applications are for labour (US Army) in order to get them back would be great.

iTunes does not transfer apps from your iPhone to your computer as a result of the thinning of the app. This feature, introduced with iOS 9, allows an application to take less space on your phone by downloading only what is needed for a specific model and not the entire application. To restore a new backup of the old phone, you need to have downloaded them to iTunes on your computer or on your new phone already if you want on your new phone. Unfortunately, applications that can be found is no longer on the app store is no longer available.

  • Mail does not display the mailbox

After a few computer problems, I wiped my own PowerMac and started from scratch with a clean install of El Capitan.  I have half a dozen emails, and trying to think ahead, I made a backup of the Mail folder that is located in the library of the 'hidden' user (where it maintains pressed press Option key to access the library under the Go menu folder).

After that cleaning installed, I got my mail folder backup and he PLOPPED in my user library hidden and shot to the top of Mail, hoping that I would find my accounts of half dozen e-mail waiting for me. But no, they were not visible.  I thought that maybe it was related to a preferences file, so I looked through a Time Machine backup recent of my preferences file, but the preference for mail only I saw there was com.apple.mail - shared.plist. I advanced and copied, but still no luck.

How can I get E-mail to acknowledge once more the many mailboxes I have in my e-mail user library folder?

I don't really understand if you're wondering how to view the list of mailboxes or how to recognize (for example, to have all accounts and emails arranged correctly) mailbox store.

To view the mailboxes, use the Mail menu to display > display the list of mailboxes.

In order to recognize mailboxes, the issue is more complicated, because it is not at all clear to me if "backup of my mail folder" contains enough information to do what you are trying to do.  But you can always try to box the mailbox > rebuild for each of the mailboxes you are showing.

  • has got the biggest hard drive, can I transfer old install to the new drive?

    C: space too small

My Windows XP Professional is installed on a 10 GB hard drive, there is little room left. I added an external drive more and would like to move the system to the largest disk. I don't have a installation disc. Can I transfer the system and applications to the new drive without losing any functionality and maybe use the old drive (C :) to store data.

Its not so easy.  It is best to get rid of some of the files on the old drive and move the data files to the new drive.  Try to go first to start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.  Then you can move locations of various data, such as temporary Internet files (in Internet Explorer go to tools |) Internet Options | Settings and click the folder to move and which will move this place).  If you use OE, first back up your messages (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6) and then put in place a new directory on the new drive to something like D:\OESTORE and then go to tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store the folder and click the button change and set it as the new location.  Then close and reopen OE (DO NOT MOVE MESSAGES yourself! as he will destroy them) and the location must be moved.

For other space saver, try to do a backup on the new disk directory and copy all update backups that were made (the Blues subdirectories in the Windows directory) and the Windows\inf directory that you can completely roll over to the new drive for backup purposes and you may need to browse to it, if you install a new device , but which will save a lot of space. (the above two suggestions require that you go to control panel |) Folder options | View and activate display files and hidden folders, enable showing protected and OS files and disable the option Hide extensions of known file types).  Move also on other data such as images, documents, music to the new drive.

So if you have lots of space on C, defrag it.

But just copy through the old drive to the new and try to start on the new one is unlikely to work.

  • BlackBerry 10 restore backup of the Torch 9800 to Z10

    Hello

Is it possible to restore the data from your backup of your 9800 on the new z10? I understand that there may be some problems of slight compatibility, but in general, contacts, SMS/MMS/Email etc., will be those catering for the Z10 or not?

Bit confused as heard that the Z10 is not compatible with the blackberry software, you get on the CD to put on your PC... I have to go old skool and write all my contacts in a paper directory (please not lol)...

The new z10 using a new program called link BB, download you it from the Blackberry site and install it on your PC. His replacement of Desktop Manager. To answer your question, you cannot restore your data from a backup file with BB Link to your new Z10. But you can transfer a device on the z10 (Contacts, calendar, contacts BBM etc.).

BlackBerry will update the link BB software to allow you to synchronize our contacts with Outlook via USB. Many people are synchronization with outlook.com and other cloud services.

  • Taken to the backup of the windows operating system 8 in a USB key (as a recovery drive) but...

    Hello

I recently bought a Lenovo laptop, Y510p, with operating system Windows 8 unique language. The guy in the store who says his best to take backup of the operating system in a recovery USB disk and said it will take at least 22 GB of space. So, I bought a 32 GB usb 3 pen drive and stored the backup in there, but to my surprise, it took only 13 GB of space. Now, can't do anything with the space remaining on the USB key. My doubt is that, after 6 months or a year, is possible to move the backup content immediately of this 32 GB disk in an another USB 16 GB of space and the boot through it?

    Hi Natasha,.

I understand that you have created a Windows 8 USB recovery disk and you found it took only 13 GB of your USB 32 GB. So, you want to know if you can transfer it to a 16 GB USB key and delete the one that you have created on the 32 GB drive so that you can use the drive for other purposes.

We are not able to transfer the recovery image that you created on your USB stick 32 GB on an another USB. However, if your PC comes with a recovery on the hard drive partition, you simply copy the image recovery of this partition on your USB drive 16 GB and can use it as a recovery in the future.

The recovery image is stored on a recovery partition on the hard drive of your computer. Windows 8 built-in tool lets you copy this partition recovery from the PC to the USB key. Please refer to the article below:

    Create a recovery USB disk

    Hope it will be useful.
