Transfer TDMS file cRIO 9076 PC locally using Labview code problem

Dear all

I use LabVIEW 2013 with cRIO 9076 for datalogging PDM.

I try to transfer the logging queue (.tdms) cRIO to the computer via the LabVIEW FTP software. The transfer is OK but computer I can't open the file-68007 error.

It's ok when I copy the cRIO on computer file ( ftp://192.168.2.102 and manually copy the file)

How can I fix the ploblem and LabVIEW FTP allows us to trnasfer file.tdms?

Thanks and greetings

    Hi all

I try to call a visual basic executable file with a command line using LABView 2014 argument. What I'm trying to accomplish executes an executable file that communicates with a device via a COM port. So, I would open the .exe with a command line argument to communicate via com 3 using the SYSTEM Exec VI. It seems that the command prompt window flashes and closes and then nothing happens. Not a lot of discussions about this on the forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

With some programs, instead of passing in the string:

    Instead, you can use:

  • Opening of TDMS files larger than 500 MB in LabVIEW

    Hello

We were faced with a problem when opening files TDMS connected using a LabVIEW, PDM Viewer (the vi in palette Advanced TDMS) application, or by creating a new PDM vi player. The recorder app is built using TDMS functions in palette file.

When the TDMS files are everywhere higher than 500 MB or the application hangs or crashes. It can sometimes give full error memory.

I browsed the forum and found the screws to split large TDMS files into smaller files and then open them. The other option is to use NI DIAdem. Currently, we use the option of the tiara. We do not want to modify the application to split the files into smaller sizes.

I'd like to understand why this is happening for files of these formats. I can easily play TDMS of 100 or 200 MB files.

The configuration of the system plays a role in the present? How is it that DIAdem can open the file and cannot LabVIEW?

What I want is to know if upgrade to Win 7 and LV 64-bit will solve this problem, without cut it files each time, or use the TDMS vi Viewer.

More likely since the channel data is placed in a very wide range and fragmentation of memory makes it very hard on 32 bit with LV 32-bit OS. Another thing that could be a problem on your 32 bit LV: display data as it creates a copy of data. So maybe the original data of the channel can hold in memory, but tries to display it sweeps away memory.

Another thing for 32-bit applications is to check the largest block of data you always free. Use tools like VMMap for your request of fragmentation of memory snapshot.

As I wrote already, a generic application 64 bit triggers the limited "insane" values depending on the operating system like Windows 7... still, there are limits.

EDIT: The link of Windows 7 go to the physical memory table on the whole system. This does not reflect the virtual memory available to a single process. Scroll down to the table "and address space limits of memory" a virtual memory figure that can be assigned to a process 64-bit on Win7 x 64. The value is 8 to...

I don't know a lot about ActiveX controls and variant data types.

I have that memory, you must find the correct methods on your own and use programming Excel Help (you will find that the VB editor macro).

I guess that this _Application provides you with a method to open an existing workbook and return the reference _Workbook. There is a for the World Bank SaveCSV method or the App, try it yourself.

  • How can I navigate and play MP3 files from a USB stick using Labview 8.0?

I am a tester to test the USB flash drives connected to the PC.

I want to browse the file system & playback of audio files, files .jpeg etc in the USB. I have Labview 8.0. When I searched for some examples or screws which can detect the flash drive USB, cannot find a. So if you could point me in the right direction, I can find a solution to my problem.

    Thank you.

You will probably find some specific examples for this.  A USB flash drive is mounted by the operating system and appears as a new memory storage device to all software on the PC, including LabVIEW.  You can certainly write a LabVIEW program to open the files on the key and the game/run their but I would create a VI who wrote the files on the stick then proofread and checked to find errors at the level of the ILO.  Don't forget that your operating system could do parity check under the hood that would make your test rather meaningless.

BTW, memory test looking at pictures or listen to the MP3s would be useless of course.  A man cannot see or hear errors at the level of the ILO in a stream broadband.

  • sequential files, playback of a folder in LabVIEW 2012 problem

    Respected Sir/Madam,
I tried to make a program that
can read the files sequentially on a folder and add all the second column in the set
files into a single file (*.csv).
Unfortunately it is the reading of files as (1,10,100,1000, 11, 19,...), but I want to
go read the files in sequential format (1,2,3, 4... 1000).
For your kind references, here I have attached the vi and the example files
("renamefiles folder" - data-sample test, you'll need to read)
    in order).
(using "rename the folder files" will easily understand the sequential)
problem reading) (if you add zero in front of the file name and make those same numbers; will give the good sequential)
    reading)
Please find the attached documents and do what is necessary as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Thanking you.

  • TDMS files viewer used in a dialog box

I would use the viewer of TDMS files within a VI dialog box. The problem occurs if I change the properties of the VI - appearance of window - window modal behavior (it should be modal).

When I click the button and run the viewer of TDMS files become two modal windows (my Viewer file VI and PDM) and 'lock' to the other: I can't control any of them.

Is it possible to use the viewer of TDMS files as a dialog box?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ljubo.

We remember, made you changes to a copy of the TDMS files viewer and not on that of VI.lib. With a upgrade/reinstall of LabVIEW, you will forget this small change, and you're back to square one.

  • How to transfer files from PC to PC via a serial port using labview

I need to transfer files (.txt, .doc, .xls) from PC to PC via a serial port using LabVIEW. Is it possible to transfer files, if so how to transfer?

Yes, it is possible to transfer files with the serial port using LabVIEW.  The files are just collections of bytes and the serial port is good enough in the expedition of the bytes from one PC to another.  You must connect the ports series with a null modem cable.

First, take a look at the example of serial communication.   In LabVIEW, go to the Help menu and select «Find examples...» ».  From there, you can search for "serial" or navigate to hardware input and output > series.  Select «Write series base» and Read.vi  Try this example to gain confidence on the serial communication methods.

Then it's time to learn how to read and write files.  For this, the examples might be somewhat confusing as they deal with files that are presumed to have data of a specific type in them.  I would recommend just familiarize yourself with the functions in the file e/s palette.  Specifically, familiarize yourself with the following functions.

    1. Open/create/replace file - on the side of your destination, you will need to create the copy of the file you are trying to transfer
    2. Close the file - when you're done reading or writing to a file, you must close it.  It cleans the memory used and finalizes write operations that are still floating in the write buffer.
    3. Read a binary file - is the best way to play a file when you don't really like what type of file it.  In your case, you just want to get these read bytes and sent so they can be written down instead of destination.
    4. Write to a binary file - next to the destination, is what will store the bytes in the file that you created with the number 1.
    5. Size of the file get (under the range of the advanced features of file) - you need to know how big the file is, so you know when you are finished.

OK, so once you are able to create files byte write and read bytes from existing files, you can move forward.

I suggest the basic method is to have the user specify a source file on the source PC, and a folder on the destination computer.  Then find the size of the source file using the number 5.  Divide this number of size by the number of bytes that you want to transfer to the times.  The series pads are usually around 32 k (if I remember correctly) in order not to exceed that.  Now start to send data by reading a number of bytes and this string output wiring to the feature of writing VISAS.  On the side of destination, you will want to monitor the serial port for bytes and read when they arrive.  This string of yarn to the writing of the function of binary file to add them to your destination file.

This is the basic outline of how to do it.  He needs to not to overload him write and read buffers on the serial ports.  Initially, you can use delays on the side sending to make sure that the side reading has enough time to digest.  To make things faster, you can bring in a control of flow.

If all that sounds a little intimidating, there are there Alliance member companies (such as the automation of PrimeTest) who can write this code for you and even provides a turnkey for you solution.

  • Why the TDMS file is bigger that we should

    Hello

I write data rate simultaneously two analog channels to TDMS file to sample 10 kHz using the capture of data OR PCI card - 6111 12-bit.

    Simply calculate:

    10000 samples per second x 12 bit x 2 channels is 240000 bits per second = 30 kbytes/s = 1.8 MB per minute.

I have 766 seconds takes long recording, so it should be: 30 kbytes/s x 766 second = about 23 MB.

But my TDMS file takes 123 MB! and I have problem with these large treatment TDMS files, for example I have no memory of enogh for analysis of FOIA. Where is the problem?

    Best regards

    Kacper

    DFGray,

You're right, I wrote the values of voltage in volts as waveform (DBL) of DAQmx, but number DBL is 64-bit, that's why my files was so great.

Now, I write not adjusted data represented as I16 (16-bit integer), and everything is ok.

It is possible to further reduce the size of the file using property DAQmx Channel node - http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3697#toc1

  • (Huge and abnormal) TDMS files problem

    Hi all

The TDMS file created by my prog of labview. size of 300 MB and takes a long time to open in tiara and sometimes even system crashes. After that, I managed to open the file and simply delete the last line, tiara functions normally without interruption (scroll operation works normally). How you guys think might be the problem?

    Best regards

First thing I would try is the defragmentation of the file (use the TDMS Defrag feature in LabVIEW).  I know there are other tricks to make it load faster, but I don't know where my links are at the moment.

There is no syntax to move several files at once. You move each file individually and have a loop that goes through the files that you want to move.

If you do not know the contents of the source directory, which complicates life. The package UTL_FILE does not tell you which files exist in a directory. I prefer a Java stored procedure to list the contents of a directory-Tom has a [example of Java stored procedure | http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:439619916584]. You can also call a DBMS_SCHEDULER shell script to get a list of directories.

I'd be a little curious as to why you use PL/SQL to move files from a directory on a database server to another directory on the same server where you also don't know the names of the files that you are moving. This seems like something a little strange to PL/SQL.
