  Actually, this isn't quite right. To create a new composition with settings that match those of the film element, drag the element of film to the button create a new Compsotion at the bottom of the project Panel. See "Creating a composition".

  If you drag a clip of film in the project Panel for panel mounting to an existing publication, and then you tell After Effects to create a new layer based on this film within the current composition.

  If you drag a clip of film in the render queue Panel, then After Effects creates a new composition of the film element and immediately adds that the composition to the render queue.

  The license key and product type must match (XP Home vs XP Pro;)  (and OEM license vs the retail license).  If it's a Dell computer and you get the product key from a sticker on the case, then there is likely a version of Windows XP OEM this product key.  If you install Windows XP from a retail installation disk, then the types of licenses will not match.  You will need to use the license that accompanies the retail installation disc or you will need to contact Dell for an OEM installation disc to go with the license on your sticker case.
