TRIM function is available on the SSD for XP?

A TRIM command allows an operating system inform a SOLID-STATE (SSD) drive, the data blocks are no longer considered as being used and can be wiped internally.

Dealer told me that the TRIM is a function of build-in Windows 7, but not Windows XP.

Someone has suggestions how work with TRIM? If I install SSD in Window XP.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

You would probably have no difficulty to run 32-bit applications on a 64-bit Windows 7. 64-bit would be preferable to allow the use of more than 4 GB memory. Before the upgrade, run the Advisor...

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows/downloads/Upgrade-Advisor

.. .he may be material reasons (not associated with a TRIM) or software reasons that would prevent the upgrade.

  • How can I change the player assigned to the SSD for a SATA instead of the SCSI drive?

Original title: SCSI instead of SATA

I built a PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.  My C: drive is a Samsung 840 Pro SSD.  The system never worked properly and I discovered that the SSD which is a SATA 3 drive in Device Manager is configured as a SCSI disk.  Someone knows how to change the driver assigned to the SSD for a SATA instead of the SCSI driver?

    Hello Uriel,

    Thank you for your response.

SATA controllers will normally appear as "SCSI" controllers in windows. It's normal and nothing to worry about. Often the SATA controllers will also be able to run in IDE mode and then they present themselves as IDE controllers, but it is unlikely that they will be able to operate optimally, as the IDE interface is missing some features of SATA. So even if you do not have the ability to set the cache in the Device Manager, a SATA controller is running in mode SATA should work just fine.

The IDE bus is managed by the controller SATA3, and if this control is set in the BIOS to "IDE" somehow it seems related to the operating system as a SCSI device.  By setting this entry in the BIOS to "RAID/IDE" IDE devices get properly detected.

This can also occur if you change the BIOS settings for the SATA ports of 'IDE' to 'AHCI' after installing Windows 7.

    I hope this information helps.

    Thank you

I replaced the HDD Seagate pre-installed with a Crucial SSD (Seagate be used elsewhere).

I have attached the support provided by Crucial 2.5 SSD ", but was surprised to find there is no any size available spare disk Bay, unless I had to remove the DVD drive, I do not want to make.

Does HP, or nobody knows, an adapter that attach the SSD to the HP chassis where was the old HDD?

Basically HARD drive is just screwed to the Bay with no real disk mechanism metal frame at all.

This is a gap in your Crucial 2.5 "to 3.5" support

IF you are a DIY manufacturer, you could remove the SSD and drill / put on the missing holes of the support!

Several 2.5 "to 3.5" media adapters have background discussions - for this type of vertical mounting.

Your case used the background threads of 3.5 "hard drives - just need an adapter that reflects that.

  • Add the SSD for HP Pavilion desktop computer

    Hello

I would like to add an SSD for my HP Pavilion 500-035ed (office). I do not want to replace the existing drive, I would add a second drive.

I have already noticed a free sata connection and a free power cable, but I didn't notice a physical position for the support and the screws etc...

Does anyone know if there is a manual that describes the physical position for a 2nd drive in HP Pavilion 500-035ed (office)?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

Look at the picture below and see if your model is configured for one SSD installation.

  • Replacement of the SSD for HP Envy 15-J160!

Hello! I want to change my hard drive in my HP Envy 15-J160, a new SSD. It will work with any SSD? Anything else I should be thinking? There are no guide for this on my specific model?

    Thank you in advance!

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See page 45. Yes, you can replace the hard drive with an SSD. Don't know what your budget may be, but here is a page showing all sizes of Samsung 850 Evo:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-inch-internal-MZ-75E500B-am/DP/B00OBRE5UE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1444600313&SR=8-1&keywords=Samsung+850+Evo+500

You should get at least one concert 250 and preferably a 500 gig. The old disk can be copied (duplicated) in the new SSD, or you can use the HP recovery discs.

Simply connect the SSD drive exactly like a hard drive. There is nothing you need to do for the BIOS or anything else unusual. Just plug in, install the software and go.

  • No drivers available on the HP for M476dw website

I've implemented a new MFP Laserjet M476dw with OS X. I couldn't access the drivers on the HP (case Ref 3011565220) website.

I'm not loving the new process to the drivers however. This seems to involve putting the CD in the CD drive (assuming you have one - many Macs these days only) and clicking on the link to download the HP software . This takes you on the HP support site, if it is not smart enough to take you to the specific URL for the product you have purchased. Also, after you select the model number of the printer, I get to the page:

    http://WWW8.HP.com/UK/en/support-search.HTML?tab=1#! & qryterm = M476dw & search_searchtype = s-002

It contains a link to the page of the drivers for the printer - but it does not work. Safari reports:

    Could not open page

The service or the information requested is not available at this time.

    Please try again later.

    (Error: system-applsrv_unavail)

He is incredibly no way to report it on the site itself, so I called the Office to report a broken link. It took about 20 minutes to navigate in the reception, where they denied that the printer has been saved (then admitted that it was), then said it was out of warranty (purchased from HP Store 2 weeks). Wanted me to a copy of the invoice by e-mail. Finally agreed to put me through to support. Got a very shady tech who wearily told me that 'the site was' and had been all day. Noticed that I tried to access the drivers repeatedly for about a week, so I asked if the site was as such (it was clearly not down - maybe he meant were parts of it), maybe it was indeed a broken link. Would not admit this as a possibility and said that the problem would be solved by end of today (16 January 2015). Was very sullen.

Moral of the story? Put the * ing drivers on the * ing CD! Or run the risk of site malfunctions serioulsy boring people who did a job to do and do not have the time to deal with this epic level of inefficiency.

  • How to install the SSD for Inspiron 14 3452?

Hello - I think I'm over my head here. I just bought the laptop 3452 Inspiron 14 model with 32GB of HDD MEM. I opened the back of the box, thinking it would be relatively easy to install a SOLID-STATE drive. However, I see is an empty slot for the HARD disk with no pins for the SSD to enter. Don't know if there is anything else I need to open? I could not find instructional videos and am afraid to do great thing with this. Please help, of course I am a novice when it comes to these things. I already used a SSD drive as external storage solution, but wanted to install this time around within the laptop.

    Thank you in advance!

I am amazed how little information there is on the web about this: I bought this machine for the use of the lamp from my laptop main goes through a process of repair.

I saw this on the black that deals Friday for 160 taxes included and made the big jump... I thought: I will modernize the HARD drive with a 250 GB drive I have lying around and I bump the ram to 4 GB.

    To my surprise:

There are 1... Yes a SINGLE SLOT of RAM. and there is an opening for the HARD drive but no cable. After further review, I came to the conclusion that it is indeed not possible or viable to improve the storage on this machine. Yes, I stripped the computer down to his mother, and it's like they took the entrails of a 10 windows Tablet and put them on a laptop cover.

So, I had a few spare parts lying around and I got a 8 GB SO DIMM that I decided to try:

Worse: the bios bump the RAM up to 4 GB as his as he goes.

Best screenplay: the bios will recognize 8 gb.

To my surprise it worked with the set of 8 gb... it is a great improvement, but not stellar.

Here is something that you can do to make this laptop can be used:

1 - get a 4 GB or 8 GB SO DIMM, (go with 8 If you don't care guarantee, those who are for losers anyway)

    2. - are subject to the creator of windows media (internet) and install a windows own 10. too much bloatware installed on this humble machine.

3 - buy a card SD 64 and install apps in there.

and there you go here! a laptop USD 160 with an upgrade of the 30 dollar DIMMs and one card 64 GB sd to work its magic.

    Hope this helps

    Best regards!

  • Passage to the SSD for late 2008 MacBook for editing video: Samsung 850EVO or Pro?

    Hello

There are a lot of things out there on the upgrade the bowels of SSD and I narrowed my choice to Samsung 850 Evo or Pro, but there are some details that I found not covered elsewhere. The idea is to give to my MacBook Pro a few years in addition to be able to edit HD video (currently, it slows to a halt). I'm also upgrading to 8 GB of RAM.

My questions are: both the EVO 850 and 850 Pro actually work in my model, old as it is?

I would notice the difference between the two while editing video, taking into account the difference and compatibility issues/limitations of price? (Limits of SATA would effectively slow the levels of the EVO Pro?)

If/when I get ahead, it is advisable to keep my entire modification on a with the main files external HARD drive, or should I keep makes it / cache on the SSD drive?

    Here are my specs:

MacBook Pro (15 inch, late 2008)

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor

    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory

    Macintosh HD boot disk

NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB graphics card

Running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5.

Please keep in mind, I am a techno-idiot and 90% of the above words I learned again in the last two days!

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Graeme.

    Yes.

Probably not.  You willing MBP of SATA2 connectivity and the full potential of each SSD not happen.

It's your choice.  If the capacity of SSDS is quite large, personally, I like to keep all data on a single disc, but maybe it's not convenient.

  • A few questions on the SSD for my W520

    (1) an mSATA reader, can serve as a boot media? I guess that it will reveal in the BIOS boot configuration?

    (2) I've seen conflicting information on this: is the first Bay SATA II or SATA III?

    Hello

    (1) Yes, mSATA can be used as boot drive in the W520, in this laptop the mSATA is located under the keyboard (on the T series is at the bottom of the machine next to the second RAM slot).

    (2) the main Bay on W520 is certainly SATA III and the mSATA on this system is also still certain to be SATA II. I hope this helps.
