Hi Tom,

We need help you to better the following information.

What makes you try to start using a recovery disk? He was facing problems with the operating system?

Once you have changed the boot options and place the CD/DVD as first boot priority then there is no need to press F10 again. Just insert the disk and restart your computer and follow the messages on screen. If you press F10, yet once needed to Boot Options.

  • No option to boot from the CD/DVD-ROM in the BIOS

    Hi all

I was pleased to receive my computer H8-1485EA this week!

I entered the BIOS setup by (by pressing F10) to allow booting from a device of type CD. I changed the boot order so that my DVD SATA drive was the head of the list. When I tried to boot from a CD, I got a starting message startup security protection has been activated and prevented me to boot from the CD. I entered the BIOS again and disabled security start-up (by entering a code) and booted from the CD. Unfortunately the I was booting from a disk to answer stopped, so I ejected it.

Some time later, I decided to reactivate security startup in the BIOS. I did it successfully, however, my SATA DVD drive has disappeared from my list of boot device. It is still detected by the BIOS and will appear in the Windows Device Manager. It is also absent from the startup list when I press F9 to start.

All the tips are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This may not apply to your case, but here goes: I about went crazy looking for the (HP Envy Phoenix) option in the UEFI BIOS to boot from my Blueray disc. I tried to put the Blueray disc to start first in the boot order, but I couldn't find that he listed in the BIOS. (My computer is 2 days old, straight from the factory. Reads Blueray disc under the operating system very well). Turns out I had to insert a floppy in the Blueray to energize, then restart the computer, then go into the BIOS and - magically - BIOS now showed my Blueray and I was able to boot from it.  (In the past I have configured all my computer equipment statically in the BIOS and it al showed there and he was.) I had never seen one * new * material option appears in the BIOS that did not previously exist. That is until I met the Phoenix BIOS)

  • How to replace the CD/DVD-Rom on Satellite Pro 2100

    Hello

My laptop's dvd - rom drive is old and broken, now that I have here an other dvd - rom drive, but I don't know how to remove the old dvd - rom without removing all parts of my laptop. Is there some service manuals how to replace the dvd - rom drive?

    Hello

I m not 100% sure on the CD/DVD drive replacement on this laptop, but I assume that the procedure is very similar to other portable players.
For the most part the ODD is secured with the screw at the bottom of the unit.
You will need to remove this screw to get out and to swap the drive.

But be careful and don t there if you have no experience!
Moreover, not all readers are compatible and supported in reason parameters master/slave/c-salt. If you n t know which drives are compatible you should ask the ASP in your country for advice!

  • Satellite 5205-s705: How can I boot from the CD/DVD drive

I can't run Setup from my cd/dvd rom, there is no such option in the BIOS Setup. How can I boot from the cD or DVD?
    Please, help me!

    Hello

You are not able to boot from the CD/DVD drive?
If you are unable to change the boot order in the BIOS, I would advise you by pressing the F12 key immediately after starting the laptop.
A start menu should appear, then you should be able to choose the reader of CD/DVD (ODD).

You can also try clicking on the C instead of the F12 button. The C button the STRANGE start.

    Check this back and forth!

    Good luck

    Hi NoOneSpeciale,

It is very possible that your CD may be damaged.  Is it possible to get another copy to try on your machine? Or try this copy on another machine to see if it works or not.
Also check in control panel--> system--> for you Device Manager make sure that there is no yellow/red icon next to the CD player and it's function correctly.

I am trying to get with Puppy Linux and get password files since I can´t get pass the login screen.

    Hepatica

You do this with the selection of options in the BIOS itself or start?

The F9 options screen, you selected in sources inherited from startup?

Have you thought to put Puppy Linux on a USB key and try it?

Test byputting a known such as the Windows installation disc in the drive bootable DVD. You can back out of it, without any effect on you desktop.

  • Satellite A210 - 128 (PSAELE) turns off when you try to boot from the CD/DVD

Hi all. I have a (serious) problem.

I bought my Toshiba two years ago (it was brand new) with Windows Vista already installed (vista and boot partition). Now I'm trying to boot and install Windows 7 Ultimate, but after I select boot from CD/DVD and start the copy of the system files, my Toshiba * turns *, completely. Overheating is not the problem for sure.

Anyone with a similar experience or everything to know about how to solve my problem? :(((

    Thnx,

    Stipe

    Hello

Why you are sure that your computer laptop isn't overheating? In my view turn is the typical pattern of overheating and you must clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.
    Check this box!

You have this problem when you try to install Windows 7 or make this happen with the Toshiba recovery disc too?

Maybe during the process of copying the files will be written on a bad sector on the HARD drive and so he shuts himself who knows?

Is my windows 7 x 64, updated drivers to update yesterday. Can someone help me?

    Hello

You can find a small hole near the CD/DVD to eject the drive.

Put a small card or PIN in this hole and the CD/DVD drive should eject manually.

In my case, it always helps.

    Good luck
