• During the attempt to re - install the iTunes software, I got the Windows 126 error message. APSDaemon, exe-Unable to locate component. MSVCR.90.dll was not found. Re-installing may fix this problem

  I use Windows XP PRO Sp 3. I tried to open an iTunes download & got this message. "APSDaemon.exe that this application was able to start. Could not locate the component that msvcr.90.dll was not found. Re-installing may fix this problem. "
  All this happened after I tried to install a new update Apple iTunes. He kept saying that he could not install... I tried several different things to solve this problem, including doing a system restore in frustration, for 2 days before today... I tried to update iTunes, not always the case. Help, I'm a no techno, so please do not just refer me to somewhere else, I will never understand what I'm told to do, whenever I am sent somewhere else, I can't solve my problem & give up in frustration. Please can someone take pity on me & guide me through the fix?

  I just tried to recreate that & got again the error messages, the one listed above main & another one that says "iTunes is not installed correctly. Please re - install. Error 7 (Windows error 126).
  Whenever I try to re - install, I get the error again on the component .dll.
  I hope that's enough info to try & help me. I really need this fix to work as I have many meditations downloaded on iTunes, because Windows Media Player could not open the files.   It would take me hours & hours to find where they came, they were downloaded over 4 years!

  If you have not had luck in iTunes (https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_for_windows?view=discussions#/?tagSet=1234) forum, uninstall and reinstall iTunes as described below:

  To perform a "clean" iTunes installation uses this technique proposed, from Support of Apple HT1926 article.  (If you are using Vista, see THIS instead).

  Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs
  Remove these applications in the following order (do not restart your computer if you are prompted during this process):

  1 iTunes
  2. Apple Software Update
  3. Apple Mobile Device Support
  4 Hello
  5 Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

  6. iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, be it, it is not necessary, then we can remove it)

  7. iPod Updater

  8 QuickTime

  Open my computer > C: > Program Files
  Delete these files (if present)
  1 iPod
  2 iTunes
  3 QuickTime

  Follow these steps if the message "cannot delete iPodService.exe: it is used by another person or program" appears when you try to delete the folder of the iPod.

  1. Make sure that you have iTunes and iPod Update utility are not open.
  2. Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
  3. Select Start Task Manager.
  4. Click the processes tab.
  5. Locate the iPodService.exe in the list.
  6. IPodService.exe-click and choose end process.
  7. Quit Task Manager.

  Empty your temp directory:
  Open my computer > C: > Documents & Settings > username > Local Settings and delete the contents of the folder called "Temp".

  If you don't see the local settings, enable hidden files:
  Tools > Folder Options > view tab
  Select Show Hidden Files & folder, and then click OK

  Once this file is empty, restart the computer

  NOTE: If you have trouble uninstalling applications, or if you have a problem, reinstall iTunes because the installer complains that it can not uninstall the current version of iTunes, see the 'Installation issues' section below.

  Installation problems

  There are several tools to deal with problems installing or uninstalling applications.  If you have these problems, the following should help.  Before using one of these tools (including #3), you must create a restore point from the system first (or back up the registry with C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT).  See http://windowsxp.mvps.org/registry.htm a complete disk image would be safer if you have this ability.

  1 Microsoft has a program install and the resolution of the problems of the uninstalling which is supposed to "work better" and be "safer" to use the old Install Cleanup Utility (3 below).

  2. free Revo Uninstaller.  You can also download a trial version of uninstaller Revo's ' Pro', which has a few more aggressive cleaning options, but this should not be necessary.

  3 Microsoft Windows Install Cleanup Utility.  Although this tool has been the preferred tool to deal with the problems of Windows Installer, Microsoft removed from Microsoft download servers because it seems sometimes deleted more than he was supposed to (I believe this was linked to Office uninstall).  You can still get Windows Installer Cleanup here--> http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html utility

  Well, it seems that this has to do with the end of support for Windows XP... will not be device drivers up-to-date.

  I doubt that, unless you're referring to updates of the driver through Windows Update, that you should NEVER accept for XP.  For Windows XP, an update of the driver should only be downloaded since then, either site of the manufacturer of your computer (e.g., Dell, HP, Lenovo) or the website of the manufacturer of the hardware in question, for example, Apple.

  If iTunes recognizes the phone but the phone does not appear in my computer or Windows Explorer (really the same thing), the problem is likely to be something wrong with AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe AppleMobileDeviceService.exe or another part of the iTunes installation package.

  I suggest you uninstall iTunes as follows, then download and install the latest version:

  Disable the LogMeIn driver from Device Manager and check. There are a few reported issues where LogMeIn driver has disabled the aero thus also changed the screen resolution feature.

  -Click Start, and then press on and enter type Device Manager.
  -Double click on graphics cards to expand the video drivers.
  -Right-click on the LogMeIn mirror driver and then click on disable.
  -Restart the computer and see if that helps.

  You can try to uninstall the video drivers and then install the driver from the AMD website as given in my first answer.
  Note: it is there no trouble uninstalling the video driver. When the video driver is uninstalled, Windows starts with minimum VGA drivers. The resolution of the screen (icons on the screen) may look bigger, but after installing the latest video drivers, the screen resolution will be back to normal.

  Please try the following steps and answer results.

• VMware Workstation 7 - why my PC freezes when opening a virtual machine?

  I used workstation 7.0 on my laptop Lenovo T400 of windows 7 for a month or two without any problems.

  Then a couple of days Workstation started OK but every time an attempt to open an image vmware of the laptop screen and the keyboard & mouse 'freeze' - no error message. I have to hold the power button / stop down to the laptop.

  The same vmware image works fine on another PC.

  I had some trouble uninstalling workstation initially-, but using the vnware uninstall tool I was able to uninstall and reinstall the post work - but still cannot open one of my images without the laptop freezing vm.

  I tried to install workstation 7.1 and vmware player 3.1 separately and they will appear to install (and uninstall) without problem - just can't open VM images. One thing I noticed is that when you reinstall workstation/vmware player - I can't find the adapter vmnet1 and vmnet8 at all. When you run vmnetcfg.exe, it seems to think vmnet1 & vmnet8 are there but they do not arise with ipconfig/all-command.

  Made a full chkdsk of the hard drive to find errors and a test of the RAM mem - everything was OK.

  Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

  I think it is most likely the result of the HW drivers updated being installed on the laptop.  I had this situation happen to me recently, my Intel Wifi driver has been updated and would crash my PC every time my computer was running and the laptop was trying to go to sleep, then wake up.  I found a new version that seems to have corrected the problem.

  Windows 7 has a great utility called the monitor of reliability for these situations.  If you presents a history of reliablity per day and more important still, tells you what happened day.  For example, on 6/7 you updated your Wifi driver and then for the next week you can see that your reliability rating is down to 5, every day since. :

  It does not load properly, freezes, crashes unexpectedly, don't pull up of PDF files from web sites and has problems with hotmail. I used Firefox for years and have never had this kind of problem. How do I downgrade to an older version? The new version 4 is obviously not ready to run and is riddled with problems.

  I was just made to look a right fool because of Firefox 4. My boss thinks now that I can't access a simple email! He has problems with IE and its home page had been hacked, so I installed Firefox (forget it automatically installed the most recent version) and it was horrible. The stupid browser will not open the Tiscali email in box for a reason, and he did look like I did something wrong, but it works perfectly fine on my computer running the latest Firefox 3.6. I downloaded 4 for a home use, because I thought that it would be even better, but it was horrible and I made a mistake in downloading it to my boss, thinking that it would make its use of the internet, better! Now, I had to uninstall loads of trash of its Internet Explorer browser and reset everything.

  To get back on track with my browser House, I didn't reactivate installing Firefox 3.16.6 (I kept the Setup file fortunately) and he replaced the horrible Firefox 4 and everything was back to normal. All my favorites and quick links were still in place.

  I think it's full of bugs, and my recommendation is to look for Firefox 3 and (without uninstalling Firefox 4) run the installer as usual to return to your old browser (much better and fully functional). It worked for me. If Mozilla Firefox 4 strength on me, I'll switch to Google Chrome or IE. It's HORRIBLE. Mozilla what you thought! Sort your act! Do not fix what is not broken!

  Tools > Modules > Extensions shows which version. If it is old, click "Find updates" at the bottom of the Extensions window.

• Downloads of Firefox "failed." Have reset FF, experienced "download problems" troubled doc and uninstalled/reinstalled FF w/o chance. Safari is able to download.

  Recently, I am unable to download anything in FF. Briefly, it is as if the download, but the file is corrupted and the other to the file in the DL Manager, it just says: "failed."

  I tried resetting FF. No luck.
  Then I tried all steps "download problems" support doc. No luck.
  I tried with all disabled add-ons. No luck.
  In desperation, I searched "Firefox" and moved two folders called Firefox, enforcement and a .plist file in the trash (always here) and redownloaded Firefox and reinstalled. No luck.

  If I click on a .pdf file will be visible, but it will not download. It is not just .pdfs that fail, it is any file I try and download.
