Troubleshoot WRT54GS-> problem connecting WRT54GL.

This is the configuration I had until recently: DSL-> (by wire)-> WRT54GS-> (by wire)-> WRT54GL-> (via radio)-> computer.  Basically, the GL is an access point.  Unfortunately yesterday he stopped working for some reason, so I did a hard reset on the router (30 seconds by holding down the reset button), and I have not been able to restore. I tried to do it via the following steps:

(1) make sure that only my laptop and power are connected to the GL via a LAN port (and the power supply).

(2) uncheck all boxes in the firewall section.

(3) disable the built in firewall.

(4) * apply settings *.

(5) according to the installation program, click on "advanced routing" and change it to "router" mode

(6) * apply settings *.

(7) according to the base configuration, disable DHCP.

(8) assign the router an IP address that is not in the GS range (192.168.0.2) DHCP.

(9) set the time on the GL.

(10) unplug my laptop of the GL.

(11) connect the cable of the GS in the GL via a LAN, not the WAN port port.

(12) to plug my laptop in the GL test via a LAN port.

Here is what I do to test (with laptop (wireless)-> gl (wire)-> gs (wire)-> dsl):

(1) see if I can get DHCP from the SG on the laptop.  So far, I was unable to do so.  However, the DHCP table of the GS (status-> LAN-> Table Clients DHCP) says he cannot see the laptop, but it assigned a DHCP entry.

(2) see if I can ping the GS, GL or another computer on the network to the laptop via a wired connection.  So far, I was unable to do so.

(3) see if I can ping the GL or the laptop to your desktop connected wireless to the GS.  So far, I was unable to do so.

(4) when it does not, swear (it's cathatric at least), do a "hard reset" on the router by holding the button stays down for 30 seconds and start again at the top.

(Please note: at this point the only active wireless is the GS.)  The wireless on the GL is disabled.)

I tried the steps above, three times and it didn't work.  The only other thing I can think of is to configure the GL to work instead of the GS and see if I can get a wired connection to my dsl.  DSL-> (wire) GL-> (wire) laptop.

I don't know what else to try... anyone have suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Well I fixed it.  In short, I deleted Zone Alarm from my laptop, re-flashed the firmware stock and re-set the GL.  Everything works now.  I do not feed cycle nothing except the GL (I have not seen your most recent post which suggests that carrot).  Despite the closure, ZA must have been screwing with the flash or the juuuust configure enough to screw up somehow.

I don't know why I did not mention Zone Alarm earlier because I know it's a terrible program that will continue to block traffic even after stopping, or why I'm not deleting it earlier, but I guess I thought "stopping is good enough."  As I just discovered, no, l ' down is not good enough.

Moral of the story: I don't like Zone Alarm, and he doesn't like me.  If you can't get your router/wap/what is working, and you are running Zone Alarm, remove it and try again the configuration/flashing/whatever.

    Hello
I don't know if my current problem is related to the LENGTH of the questions that I posted earlier today. This morning I logged on a website as usual, but tonight, I have a problem connecting to. When I can I connect, I can not use the services. First of all, I have a new page greeted me that I've never seen before.

Another thing, should I say that I don't have the latest FF browser when I click on help == > Feedback. Today, I downloaded the latest version 19.0.2.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Tools > Options > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox/tools > Options > privacy > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

If clearing cookies doesn't work, then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other files to present as cookie cookies.sqlite - journal in the profile folder of Firefox in the case where the cookies.sqlite file has been corrupted.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • HP Pavilion Notebook-15-p108tx: problem connecting with specific programs

Hi, I had problems connecting with specific programs recently. I'm still able to communicate online through web browsers. Mozilla Firefox works fine, but Google Chrome still has some problems loading of specific pages or they don't load at all. The main programs I am having difficulties with are mainly games platform programs like Steam, Battle.net, and League of Legends, and I'm unable to go online or to connect to their servers.

I never had no problem connecting like these last two years that I've owned my laptop, until recently. I think it was the 6th or 7th of may these problems started.

I updated my drivers and was constantly check to download the most recent. I don't know if it's my internet provider, but I was also constantly check the State of the network to ensure that the services are very good.

If anyone else has this problem and if there are any suggestions that you think could help solve this problem, it would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Jasper

    Hi Jasper,.

Thank you for the update. I think that your computer have a rootkit infection. Most of them were inside of the Chrome Extensions.

Here's what you need to do.

    Open chrome

Click on the Menu bar in the upper right

    Click more tools

    Click Extensions

Please search for suspicious extensions that does not belong to the computer, especially ads. Once you identified, simply click the trash can icon then Chrome close then reopen it again to see if you can connect to your desired game. If this isn't the case, then proceed as follows.

Manual removal of suspicious files (if you are uncomfortable with it. If this is not the case, then run System Restore from safe mode with command prompt)

Manual removal (I miss the old days of MS virus removal )

Go to RUN type %temp% , and then delete all folders by pressing SHIFT + DELETE

Go to Control Panel and then locate all the apps that you think a form of ads

Go to safe mode with network. Run Malwarebytes in that State

Then run Tweaking tool to fix everything that has changed since your computer

    http://www.Tweaking.com/files/setups/Tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio_setup.exe

If your not comfortable with the troubleshooting steps may perform the system restore on the day, it was working fine.

  • Problems connecting to the Wi - Fi network

    * Original title: Internet connectivity

I have a laptop with Windows 7.  I can connect to the internet with the laptop very well everywhere, but home.   I have several other devices on my home network that connect and work correctly.   There is no problem connecting to wifi, it is the internet which is a problem. The problem seems to be associated dns.   Can I get the laptop to connect to certain combinations of the adapter reset, reset dns winsock, ipconfig/release and flush, off the modem.  but none of these steps work every time and when I connect to the internet it works only for awhile (sometimes a few days, sometimes minutes).  I used the services of troubleshooting, restored the system, removed the firewall and checked for malware.  This laptop worked fine on that network until about 6 months ago and I have been struggling since then.   Suggestions gratefully accepted

Two causes of this problem that I've seen recently:

    1. you have TWO wireless networks.  Most modems provided by ISPS have built in wireless and come configured and enabled.  If you use a separate desired wireless router, you must disable that in the modem.  You cannot have two in the same network

    2. among the points of early failure in laptops as they age is the wireless installation.  Buy wireless n USB adapter and try it.  Just today, I bought one for $20.  In general they work better than those built in anyway.  Don't forget to disable the on-board one.  Mine is a TP link which is about an inch long.

A third possibility is that the wifi password stored in your laptop is incorrect.  Remove your wifi network at home, and again, try to enter the password.

  • Irregular problem connecting to the wired network

My Windows 7 PC has an irregular problem, connect to the local network of cable through a provided network of the netgear modem/router.

The connection timeout is the question and sometimes takes a while four two minutes or more.

A reboot of the pc never seems to resolve but (quite often, in fact usually) will be a restart of the modem.

The modem is always on (as the announced network connection is supposed to be).

The network provider has replaced the modem, and the problem persists. This leads me to believe that there is a start up or similar problem with the pc.

I ran the troubleshooter in windows... no chance/results. Is there a "fixit" tool I could try or something similar?

Happy to clarify, to provide more information and appreciate any input.
