Try reformatting Satellite A100

Hello

I'm trying to reformat my Toshiba Satellite A100 using the disc of recovery of product supplied in the box. In the instruction booklet, he asks place me the disc in the drive of the laptop power up while holding the F12 and release the button once I see the Toshiba screen. I did this with success and went ahead and chose the option of CD/DVD startup under, after this, it says something like loading _ but once he had loaded, just restarting the laptop and starts the operating system later.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thank you.

Hello

In my eyes you have nothing wrong. If you want to install from the recovery CD you can boot from them.

There is also another way to boot from the CD.
Try to insert the CD in the drive and start the laptop computer. Immediately after starting the laptop, then press the C key.
This should allow booting from the CD.

If it is not possible to boot from the recovery CD or the drive can read data from the middle of the recovery or the surface of the CD is damaged.

  • Can't reformat Satellite A100

I had trouble trying to reformat my laptop series Satellite A100 which is / was under Vista.

The problem is once I put the recovery DVDs in. I select from the start menu and it enters the screen "Windows loading files" as it should. However, a little bit after that it starts to load the Setup interface (just after that the mouse will appear), the laptop resets and me not to continue with the installation. I tried to do with even with other Vista install DVD without success.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello!

In your case, I would format the HARD disk with an external tool like Hitachi Drive Fitness Test.
Will be formatted the HARD drive completely and you will have lost all the data on it, but after that, the installation should work.

    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

But don t forget, when you use a no, recovery disk you need SATA drivers before installing Windows.

If you have any problems, let me know it.

  • Question about reformatting Satellite A100 PSAA8Q

    Can someone help me please?

I tried at least 20 times insertion restore DVD and select boot from CD/DVD-rom, but whenever the HARD drive recovery utilities window is not started.
Can anyone tell me why and how to fix this?

Note: what I create Tools & Utilities CD?, but on the Protect & Fix tab, there is no such thing.

    Thank you

At first, I must say that I don't know what you mean with the HARD drive recovery utility. As much as I know this older A100 has no opportunity to drive HARD, just a recovery media recovery. This means that you can only install the recovery using recovery DVD image.

New models of laptops have saved the recovery image on the HARD drive and recovery installation can be started by using the installation disk option.

In any case, to start the process of recovery of Toshiba recovery DVD media you have three options:
-Set the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS settings
-When the laptop start press F12 and choose CD/DVD
-What laptop begins to push C button and keep it down for 10 seconds. This will force the CD/DDVD drive as first boot device

Please try all of them and post the results.

  • Error recovery on Satellite A100

    Hello people!

Well, I've had my Toshiba Satellite A100 for almost 1 year, and I have these non-removable spyware and ad-aware. But besides that, I want to reformat my pc but I can't. When I choose for the boot device cd-rom drive, loading RAMDisk image, it comes up with an instant message and then he disappears, but I noted to see F6 and so I rebooted the DVD again and I spammed F6. And this is what happens:

"Setup could not determine the type of computer you have, or you have chosen to manually specify the type of computer.
Select the type from the following list, or select "other" If you have a device support disk provided by the manufacturer of your computer.

    ACPI Multiprocessor PC
    ACPI Uniprocessor PC
Advanced Configuration and power interface (ACPI) PC
    NPS Uniprocessor PC
    NPS Multiprocessor PC
    Standard PC
    Others. "

I thought, if I use the mechanical system or something else, can I just reformat with that entirely and then I use the toshiba recovery cd and I think I have the windows xp cd. Can I install windows xp from there and then go down all of the toshiba utilities download site and install them? Or does install the drivers to display with the recovery cd or I see nothing and I will stuff my pc up to? Lol usually whenever I have try sumfin to help my pc I usually have the wreck it. So I've always guaranteed, so I might even go back to there. But I would appreciate if you guys can help.

    Thank you

    Hello Adam

Honestly, your ad is so complicated and confusing for me I will just try to explain how you can install OS on your Satellite A100.

If you want to install the operating system, you can do on two tracks:
-Sent using recovery DVD set in ODD and turn off. Turn it back on and immediately press the C button. keep it down for a short period and the ODD is obliged first to start device. When the facility starts just follow the on-screen menu.
-You can use the Microsoft facilities (full version) CD. Install the OS and after that you need to install all the drivers, tools and utilities manually. All the stuff you can find on the download page of Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com support & downloads

Before you format drive HARD trying to create own Tools & Utilities CD. This option you will find Toshiba Assist Protect & Fix tab.

All that s! If I misunderstood something please post again.

  • Satellite A100 Recovery CD Wizard Error Code: F3-FFFF-0008

I just bring a Satellite A100 and a problem by performing a full restore using the two supplied with my laptop recovery disks.

The problem came after I deleted all partitions on the hard drive and then reformatted the entire hard drive.

I get on the above error code, stated in the following format:

    ERROR: F3-FFFF-0008
    An error has occurred
Please press [OK] to turn on the power the computer off.

When I try to use the Recovery Wizard.

I will be grateful if someone can help me on this one.

I agree with the previous user. I think it's a matter of formatting of s.
Try to boot from the original Windows XP CD. This would format the HARD drive again.
Then use the Toshiba Recovery CD again!

I noticed these problems installing several times and bad HARD drive format has been mostly a reason for similar problems

  • Reinstall XP on Satellite A100 without CD

    Hello

I bought a Satellite A100 just now, and it came with XP is already installed. Over the years, I've collected (unintentionally) and other virus and now I want to reformat the drive.

Problem is when I try to access the partition as described in the FAQ. I want the 0 button and startup, the laptop will beep but then starts as usual.

Because I'm not the only user, it was possible that the score has been compromised if another user has opened the drive and delete what it thought was unnecessary or malicious software.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    > The problem is, when I try to access the partition as described in the FAQ. I want the 0 button and startup, the laptop will beep but then starts as usual.

I know this procedure only works with some Australian portable Toshiba and only if the laptop was equipped with the recovery of HARD drive partition.
I m not sure if your A100 has such a HARD drive partition, but I think this should be mentioned in your user manual.

If the laptop does not contain this partition of HARD drive, then you will need to use a Setup disk to install the OS on the HARD drive.

  • Satellite A100-207 - \windows\system32\config\system is corrupt

    Hello

Can someone help me with the following problem. With regard to a Toshiba Satellite A100-207 with windows XP media edition

When starting the laptop hangs with error * \windows\system32\config\system is corrupt *.

This article is the closest to the problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545. but the warning in the article on the point is not to use with circumspect OEM on more facilities of he made me.

I have lost the disc of recovery (recently).
But were able to boot the laptop from USB using a cutter (lite) version of windows.

The scene in the article copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config\system fails because the file does not exist (the other files do however).

In this folder there is a system.bak, this would solve the problems like the laptop boots windows logo screen then after 5 minutes restarts and just go around and around a certain extent.

There is also a file system.sav in the folder windows\system32\config using this all goes someway to to solve the problem, the laptop restarts and resumes product set-up with off course fails has so I don't have the recovery disk.

I would be grateful if someone could help with the problem

    Regards Garry

    > but the warning in the article on the point is not to use with circumspect OEM on more facilities of he made me.

You can ignore this warning, you have no other choice than to try to fix this system following the article in the Microsoft Knowledge base.

But to be honest, I doubt that the system would run smoothly after this work around.

I would recommend the new installation of the OS.
If you don t have a Toshiba Recovery disk, you can use a Microsoft Disk to reinstall the system. Essential drivers are available Toshiba driver Web site.

I'm quite surprised that there is no such a model on the official website.

I am a technician COMPUTER called so no stupid answers please.

Drivers for your machine, you can find on Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp but under Archives.
You will find this option when you open the options for the type of product.

Unfortunately your laptop is not supported for Win7, just for Vista.
In any case, you can try to use the drivers or the drivers Vista A200. I hope that it also works on your machine. I have a good experience with A200 and Win7, but not with A100 so I can't provide concrete assistance.

  • Satellite A100 (PSAAR) ID_ERR_NOTINSTALLTVALZ_MESSAGE to the VAP configuration

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite A100 (PSAAR) and the installation of VAP (value added Package) of the site Web of Support from Toshiba, I get error ID_ERR_NOTINSTALLTVALZ_MESSAGE and then the installation ends.

The proposed solution is to do a BIOS update, and it did not work for me, as I said in the topic (I've updated with bios-20071126124517, which is the package recommended for my laptop model). I use Vista 64 bit in the way, and I try to install VAP to eliminate the unknown hit-and-run driver (TOS1901 if I'm not mistaken) in Device Manager. I worked on this problem for a few days now and I'm really tired, so I need your help as soon as possible.

    Thanks in advance...

    > I'm using 64-bit Vista by the way
Have you tried to install the VAP 32 bit on 64 bit Vista?

If Yes, then I m afraid it won't work, and I guess this is the reason why this error message appears during the installation procedure

  • Re: Satellite A100 - product key does not work on Vista installation

    Hey,.

I'm paid to reinstall Windows Vista and all the drivers on a Toshiba Satellite A100 and it doesn't have a Vista disc, but I used guggle 1.6 to get the product key. That I reinstalled Vista Home Premium Grand with my copy of what I bought.

But now when I try to enter the product key, it says its already in service and I get an error message.

    What should I do?

    Hello!

The product key on the underside of the laptop is an OEM key and belongs to the preinstalled OEM version. This means that you can t use this key with a normal Vista installation disc that you can buy on the internet or in a store of the computer.

If you want to install Vista you should a disk recovery Toshiba or a disc of Microsoft with the corresponding product key.

You can order a Toshiba Toshiba recovery disc directly:

  • Satellite A100 - wireless/network not working not

Hi all I'm new here and even though I think I know a little about PC I seem to forget that I have learned.

I have a lappy Satellite A100, which was connected to a home network wireless and worked very well. After travel further using another wireless USB device, I would return home put on wireless and connection obtained immediately.

On a recent trip to Bali, I discovered that there are free hot spots wireless everywhere, however I had problems with the connection on trying to connect and could hang, past my expertise so went to a guy who has tinkered with Lappy I wss then you connect wherever I went, great, until the return to the House.

Put on wireless and cannot connect, I tried everything and had to resort to a cable connection.

I noticed when you use Toshiba cordless tool it is to see the connection to the router, but stops to Lappy with!

It has been considered a clean install, but this seems drastic.

    * Help please *.

    Using XP or Vista?

    Try this:

    (1) what a reception/interference problem? Try moving the laptop or a Wifi access Point

    (2) download and install the latest wireless drivers from the Web from Toshiba site

    (3) try to disable the Windows Firewall or your 3rd party firewall

    (4) use static IP addresses, instead of using the DHCP (dynamic IP address)

    (5) update the Firmware of your Wifi access Point. (download from the manufacturer's website)

  • Satellite A100 - defective speakers, gives the crackling

I have the Toshiba Satellite A100 model.
My speakers do not sound right.
    Left speaker does not work.
    They give a crackling.
    Audio, video, doesn't sound right.
Whenever I play a song it gives a feeling of speakers are blasted.
When I turn the volume down they sound a little ok.

    Advice needed.
I need to replace speakers or should I update the drivers?
    Thank you...

After reading your ad, I think the speakers are defective and must be replaced.
You can try to change some sound settings to see if something will change.

In any case, I think driver has nothing to do with it and you need new speakers.

Have you tested with headset or headphones? How does it work?

  • Satellite A100-991 - cannot boot from USB device

My Satellite A100-991 (MS Windows XP MCE, SP3) does not start from a USB key or USB hard drive. The same USB devices are bootable if they are connected to a desktop computer or a laptop from other manufacturers. I put the USB as the first boot device and use an image "Bart PE" on my USB device.

In fact, I have installed 2.10 Phoenix Bios version and I wonder if I could update the BIOS by using the 'sa105v21.exe' program and that this would resolve the startup problem.

    Hello

Have you tested different USB keys? I think that your current USB key is not compatible
Also test the USB to different USB ports. A port may be defective for the computer to start t with him.

Theoretically, you can try upgrading the BIOS but don t forget s a bit more risky and it should be the last step.
Prior to this, load default settings in the BIOS and check if you can boot from USB.
