Try to download itunes for my ipod on Windows Vista Edition home premium and get the error message: windows service install could not be accessed.  This can happen if the installation program is not properly installed.

    Hello tizerinkdom,

    Method 1:

You can also check using provided below steps for windows service installation state. After the reset of the service, you can check if the problem is solved-

    a. go to Start and click on ControlPanel

    b. then all theelements of thePanel control, and then AdministrativeTools .

    c. here, click Services , and double-click the Windows Installerservice.

    d. set the startup type of the service Manual.

    e. now right-click and click Start to start the service. Note the error message, if any.

    f. click Ok.

    Method 2:

    Reregister Windows install

To re-register the Windows Installer, verify the location of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard disk and in the Windows registry, and then re-register Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps.

Determine the location of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard drive. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. click Start, click run, type %windir%\system32and then click OK.

Note This step opens the folder where the Msiexec.exe file is located.

    (b) take note of the location of the Msiexec.exe file. The location of theMsiexec.exe file will be a combination of the value in the text box address and the name of the file Msiexec.exe himself.

For example, if the address text box contains a value of C:\Windows\system32, the location of the Msiexec.exe file is C:\Windows\system32\Msiexec.exe.

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. 322756 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/) how to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Make sure that the location of the Msiexec.exe file in the registry editor is correct. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. click Start, click run, and type regedit in the Open text box, and then click OK.

    b. expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, expand SYSTEM, expand CurrentControlSet, expand Services, and then click MSIServer.

    c. in the pane on the right, right-clickImagePath, and then click change.

    d. inthe value data text box, type the location of the Msiexec.exe file that you determined in step 1, followed by the valueof/v/v, and then clickOK.

For example, if the location of the Msiexec.exe file is C:\Windows\system32\Msiexec.exe, type the following text in the value data text box:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe /V

    e. click OK to close the dialog box change the channels .

    f. click on the file menu and then click Exit to close the registry editor.

Start your computer in safe mode, and then register the Msiexec.exe file. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. clickStartand then click shut down the computer or Shut Down.

    b. Select therestart option, and then click OKor clickrestart.

    c. press F8 before the Windows splash screen appears.

I have everything all except unistall Windows Vista, is there something else I can do?

You could try and uninstall all references to iTunes on your computer.

Use the control panel to uninstall iTunes and software components in the following order:

    1. iTunes
    2. QuickTime
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Hello
    6. Application of Apple Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Then a few solutions that worked is to install and erarlier version of iTunes as there have been some problems with version 10.

If you work with Microsoft supports a call, it would be better to continue with this support.

Otherwise, I would contact Apple for support of iTunes.
