Try to download itunes.

Try to download itunes for my ipod on Windows Vista Edition home premium and get the error message: windows service install could not be accessed.  This can happen if the installation program is not properly installed.

Method 1:

You can also check using provided below steps for windows service installation state. After the reset of the service, you can check if the problem is solved-

a. go to Start and click on ControlPanel

b. then all theelements of thePanel control, and then AdministrativeTools .

c. here, click Services , and double-click the Windows Installerservice.

d. set the startup type of the service Manual.

e. now right-click and click Start to start the service. Note the error message, if any.

f. click Ok.

Method 2:

Reregister Windows install

To re-register the Windows Installer, verify the location of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard disk and in the Windows registry, and then re-register Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps.

Determine the location of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard drive. To do this, follow these steps:

a. click Start, click run, type %windir%\system32and then click OK.

Note This step opens the folder where the Msiexec.exe file is located.

(b) take note of the location of the Msiexec.exe file. The location of theMsiexec.exe file will be a combination of the value in the text box address and the name of the file Msiexec.exe himself.

For example, if the address text box contains a value of C:\Windows\system32, the location of the Msiexec.exe file is C:\Windows\system32\Msiexec.exe.

Make sure that the location of the Msiexec.exe file in the registry editor is correct. To do this, follow these steps:

a. click Start, click run, and type regedit in the Open text box, and then click OK.

b. expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, expand SYSTEM, expand CurrentControlSet, expand Services, and then click MSIServer.

c. in the pane on the right, right-clickImagePath, and then click change.

d. inthe value data text box, type the location of the Msiexec.exe file that you determined in step 1, followed by the valueof/v/v, and then clickOK.

For example, if the location of the Msiexec.exe file is C:\Windows\system32\Msiexec.exe, type the following text in the value data text box:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe /V

e. click OK to close the dialog box change the channels .

f. click on the file menu and then click Exit to close the registry editor.

Start your computer in safe mode, and then register the Msiexec.exe file. To do this, follow these steps:

a. clickStartand then click shut down the computer or Shut Down.

b. Select therestart option, and then click OKor clickrestart.

c. press F8 before the Windows splash screen appears.

d. in Windows Advanced Option menu, use the arrow keys to select theSafe Mode option and then press ENTER.

e. If you use a un ordinateur computer dual-boot or multiboot, select the operating system in the list that appears and press ENTER.

f. connect to the computer.

g. click Start, click run, type msiexec/regserver in theOpen text box and then clickOK.

Note For 64-bit operating systems, you must also register the 64-bit MSI installer again. To do this, click Start, click run, type %windir%\Syswow64\Msiexec/regserver in theOpen text box, and then clickOK.

On 64-bit Windows operating system editions, the binary 32 bits are located in the %systemroot%\SysWow64 folder. Files 64-bit binaries are located in the %systemroot%\System32 folder.

h. clickStartand then click shut down the computer or Shut Down.

i. Select therestart option, and then click OKor clickrestart.

Method 3: Reinstall Windows install

To reinstall Windows Installer, rename the damaged Windows Installer files, and then reinstall the Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. click on Start, click run, type cmd in the Open text box, and then clickOK.

2. type cd %windir%\system32and then press ENTER.

3. type attrib-r-s-h dllcacheand then press ENTER.

4 type ren msi.dll msi.old, and then press ENTER.

5. type ren msiexec.exe msiexec.oldand then press ENTER.

6 type ren msihnd.dll msihnd.old, and then press ENTER.

7. type exitand press ENTER.

8. at the command prompt, typeexitand press ENTER.

9. click on Startand then click shut down the computer orShut Down.

10 select the restart option, and then click OKor click restart.

11 log in the computer.

13. click on Startand then click shut down the computer or Shut Down.
